2018-05-04 Thread Don Raikes
I installed firefox 60 on windows 7 64-bit and it works fairly well with JAWS
2018.

However, firefox seems a bit sluggish especially when adding bookmarks, and
sometimes I have problems with opening links I will press enter on the link and
nothing happens.

[JAWS-Users] jaws 18 and firefox 53 developer tools

2018-01-28 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I need to use firefox to edit the html of a webpage on the fly. According to
the firefox support site I should use the page inspector to do this.

My challenge is to add a new option into a combobox. I can locate the combobox
in the html by searching for the word option.

If I right-click on the first option node and select duplicate from the context
menu, I get a new entry in the lis (good so far).

My problem comes in when I want to edit the value of the option. I select edit
as html friom the context menu, and am placed in presumably an edit field, but
I cannot see anything in the edit box. I have explored with the pc and jaws
cursors but can't find the html tags to edit.

Does anyone have any experience with this tool or know how to get it to work
with jaws?

Any help would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] jaws 18 and outlook 2017

2017-09-27 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I am just migrating from outlook 2007 to outlook 2017 due to company
requirements.

I am using a focus 40 blue display with jaws 18.

When I am in the message list, the braille display does not show anything even
though I have gone to the outlook settings (jaws key +f2 / customize outlook
list) and made sure that the from, subject and message items are all set to be
brailled.

Any suggestions on how to make this work better would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] jaws and outlook 2016

2017-09-13 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I am running jaws 16.0.4474 on a windows 7 laptop. I had to upgrade from
outlook 2007 to outlook 2016 for corporate policy reasons.

Now my focus blue does not display anything in the message list in outlook. I
never had a problem in outlook 2007, but in 2016, the braille display just
isn't displaying anything in the message list. All other areas of the
application seem to work with the display.

Just tested and jaws 18.0.4104 also has the same issues.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don

BTW: I am sticking with jaws 16 because it has scripts for the cisco jabber
voip client whereas jaws 18 does not have the same scripts.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Java and Access Bridge

2016-04-29 Thread Don Raikes
Beverly,

Yes the accessbridge still exists. Since jdk 7, the accessbridge has been a
part of the regular jdk/jre installation.

On windows after installation, you need to go into ease of access center -> use
the computer without a display, and check the accessbridge checkbox.

Click ok to exit the dialog and restart jaws.

Now as long as the particular java application is using the jdk associated with
the accessbridge or any other jdk from 7.0 or later, things should work.

I have tried google apps and they have proven to be a disaster for

[JAWS-Users] Enabling MSAA mode

2014-04-01 Thread Don Raikes
Hi All,

It has been a very long time since I have tried to do any kind of scripting for
JAWS, and I have forgotten most of what I knew back then (JAWS 7 days).

I have an application which windig says uses mostly MSAA controls. I need a
quick and dirty way to get started using this application.

I vaguely remember that there is or was a way to turn MSAA recognition on
without using scripts, but I just can't remember the keystrokes to do it.

BTW: I am running jaws 14.0.9002 (no I haven't upgraded to jaws 15 due to java
instabilities I observed).

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] Adding notes to a powerpoint in powerpoint 2007

2014-03-18 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I am working on a ppt slideshow for a class, and I would like ot add some notes
for myself in the notes pane, but when I switch over to the notes pane, I can't
figure out how to actually add the notes. I can't just type into the pane, and
I can't seem to drop a text object onto the pane to allow me to enter text
there.

Is there a trick to this?

[JAWS-Users] jaws and visual studio 2012

2013-03-14 Thread Don Raikes
Hi all,

Does anyone know if visual studio express 2012 is accessible using jaws 14?

I am going to need to do some c++ development on windows soon, and if I can get
the VS express 2012 suite of tools to work for me that would be great.

Any help would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] creating webcasts with JAWS

2012-08-16 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I need to create some webcasts where I record what is happening on the screen
and also capture what jaws is saying.

I have tried camtasia studio, but have had no success with that.

Does anyone know of another program which works well with jaws?

Need this for generating work training videos.

[JAWS-Users] using camtasiastudio 6 with jaws 13

2012-08-02 Thread Don Raikes
Hi all,

Has anyone tried to use camtasia studio 6.0 with jaws 13?

I need to create some training videos for my job, and we have a license for
camtasiastudio 6.0.

I have spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out how to get this to
work with no success.

So if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate knowing.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question For All Who Use Jaws 11

2010-09-15 Thread Don Raikes
I have had this happen before as well. I believe it is something to do with
the audio driver just freaking out. I don't know if there is a memory leak
somewhere which is causing the problem, but it only seems to happen on my
laptop not on my desktop system.

[JAWS-Users] windows 7 network setup

2010-01-19 Thread Don Raikes
Hi all,

I migrated to windows 7 on my laptop this weekend. I am struggling to find
everything in the new interface.

I especially have issues trying to find my network setup information. Is there
a quick way to get to the network configuration page?
