[JAWS-Users] JAWS 17 Upload TechAssist
Hello, I just got a new copy of JAWS 17 and got somewhat of a surprise, as the 20 character authorisation code, had No Number signs or spaces for Letters; so, I had to contact the local Veteran Blind Orientation Specialist, who issued that copy, to get that correct Authorisation code. Once the Authorisation code was received; I had to Dymo label that code, on the JAWS 17 CD package, as what I had received from Freedom Scientific, was so poorly Braille labelled. Now, the next predicament that was encountered. I have a Gateway desktop CPU, with Windows7, with JAWS 14; and I inserted the JAWS 17 Program disc, yet I had forgot that a Comcast rep had changed the POP 3 setting to IMAP, without changing the advanced numeric settings; consequently, I can't access the Internet, to get Authorisation for the JAWS 17 program. Question 1; at the start menu; how do I gain access to where the POP 3 / IMAP Email/Internet setting are located on the Gateway CPU; so I can put the POP 3 setting back; so I can upload the new JAWS 17 version. Question 2; Should I consider using the IMAP setting; and if so; what are the correct numeric settings? The reason I had a Comcast rep come out; was that Emails I was receiving from Comcast, concerning their X-infinity new Talking TV Remote; and when I would download emails from them; to a Humanware Apex, I was receiving unreadable/unaudible Emails, as if it was in nothing but, characters and foreign lingo garbage. Topic 2. I am trying to locate a audio text format copy of David Pogue's book, titled; Windows10 The Missing Manual. I got the NLS / Talking Books Library's, audio book; yet I am after a E-text format copy of this book. I won't try listening to the audio book, and transcribing into a Braille format; nor will I get a text copy of the book to scan it, to get the wanted CPU text version, for easy access. Any and All assistance, would be Valuably Appreciated. Sincerely, DJ Meyrick 100% Blind USN Vet Portland, Oregon For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] new recording on one drive
Sunday, August 30, 2015 Hello Carolyn, I was unsuccessful, as was Mike, trying to get the below information. Would you Please outline the steps you took to reach the final goal and download? You stated there were things you did; yet you did not clearly provide any useful information, (Step by Step) to get to the actual download location. If you would share those steps to me and probably a few others, would be quite greatful. Keep up your perseverance, as you are passing a vast amount of useful technical tidbits, to many inn the Support Group. What I'm loving about Outlook that I did not have in OE is that when there is a link in an e-mail, I just hit Enter, and big as life, there I am smack dab on the net. I had to go down through a few things, but did get the storm, and it was a good one, enjoyed by a woman raised on the Gulf coast. I do not find it, I clicked on the link in the email, then pressed Insert + F 7, but theere was no link to download any audio file. I then went back to the original One Drive page, and again found no audio file to download. I did click on the Windows 10 Stuff thing, and it did open another page, but no results. Hello Mike, Quick question. I am dissatisfied with Classic View. Would you Please provide a method to follow to turn Classic View off? Thanks for any all assistance. To check see if you're using the classic desktop theme do the following: 1. While on the desktop press the F5 key to make sure that nothing is selected. 2. Press the applications key, arrow down to Personalize press enter. Listen to Jaws it will report which theme is running. If it's not Windows Classic then continue with the rest of the steps. 3. You will now be in the Themes Gallery. here the different themes are in columns. To find the Windows Classic Theme, arrow down to Windows7 Basic, right arrow 1 time to Windows Classic press enter. Wait a little while for the system to make the changes. You might hear a sound when it's done. Also, changing themes will probably change your Sound Schemes as well. So, you might have to alter your sound schemes to get the sounds you want. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Tapin
Hello Bob, Might you Please provide the TapIn Radio's address or link? Thanks, -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Bob W Sent: Sunday, February 16, 2014 22:08 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Tapin Hi Becky. I've been using tapin radio for years and love it. However, you are right about there being no documentation available. I think I saw somewhere that the creator is visually impaired, though you'd think this would encourage him to provide better documentation. In my settings there is a setting for dark mode [gag] that I think will, in some way, make it work better with a screen reader. You can press f1, and get a quick listing of shortcut keys; but you'd better pay attention because it reads them out in one big list. When tapin comes up you are in an edit box. Type something in it, say 80s rock and tab to the search button and press enter. You are presented with a list of stations that have 80s rock in their description somewhere. Hit enter on one of them and you'll be rocking the night away. There's a lot more to it than that. So, if you are interested, send me a private message at rwile...@satx.rr.com and I'll see if I can help. Thanks.
