Re: [JAWS-Users] if you are not ready for windows 10 beware of windows update
Hi. You have to goto the Windows Update, Installed updates, and remove the kb2952664, kb3035583, and kb3112343. Don't restart the computer between each removal, but remove all 3 updates before restart. When the computer is Restarted, goto the Windows Update, and search for updates, but don't install the updates, but goto the Recommended updates link, and see, that the just removed updates again is ready for install. Uncheck the checkbox by each of these updates, and use the contextmenu button to get acces to the "Hide update". When these 3 updates are unchecked and hided, Win10 should no longer be able to install automatically. I Can't garanty, that Microsoft not later comes with a new update, that will try to get all Windows Users to upgrade to Win10, but let's see. Merry Christmas to all! Please pardon the lengthy post, by the way. I am using JAWS 16.0.1925 on a Fujitsu laptop, Windows 7 64-bit. I have 8 mb of RAM and a 2.1 processor. When I read through a document line by line, using the down arrow, JAWS often rereads the line, even though I have pressed DownArrow. In addition, I am a fast typer, and sometimes I notice that JAWS messes up email addresses and subject lines in emails I send through Outlook 2010. I could blame this on my typing, but I have been a JAWS user since JFW 2.00 and did not see this issue until I installed JAWS 16. I contacted FS Technical Support and, upon their recommendation, did a repair of the install. As that made no difference, I uninstalled JAWS and all shared components and reinstalled from the DVD. Still no success! I contacted technical support again, and not only uninstalled JAWS and all shared components, but removed all JAWS references from the registry. As soon as I reinstalled JAWS, it worked correctly! However, the very next morning, we were back to having the issue. FS seems to think it is not a JAWS problem, but no one seems to be able to tell me what setting on my machine to check or change. All other versions of JAWS work beautifully. Does anyone have any idea at all of something I might try? I find it frustrating to pay for an SMA and then not be able to use the program to achieve normal productivity on my job.
