Re: [JAWS-Users] How to turn on/off speech quickly?

2009-08-02 Thread Ibby Karbhari
Hi, Once you are in the default keyboard manager, press the tab key to
hear a pull down list of items and it is here that you can type MU to
get to the mute synthesiser.
It worked for me and I have set control+shift+1 as my hot key.

Hope this helps.

I tried your instructions, but when I typed mu into the default
Keyboard Manager, I got no match. I browsed through all the entries
that start with the letter M, but I could not find anything that
sounded like Mute Synthesizer. I'm running JAWS 9. Am I doing
something wrong?

 Hi Donnie;

 1. Get into the keyboard manager with JAWSKey+8.

 2. Press ctrl-shift-d to get into the Default keyboard manager.

 3. Now type mu to get to mute synthesizer.

 4. Press ctrl+a to Add a keystroke to this script.

 5. Press your keystroke (which could be, say, ctrl+shift+m).

 6. Tab through and observe the dialogue.

 7. OK your change. Save. Exit.

 8. note that pressing your assigned keystroke once again will
unmute
 the synthesizer.

Yes, there is an option for Mute Synthesizer in the Default.JKM.
You
there add a keystroke to enable it.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Notetab help please

2009-06-20 Thread Ibby Karbhari
Hi Folks,
Please can anyone help with this one?
When using Notetab JAWS speech is fine. However the Braille display
the cursor always starts off in colomn 29 where as I would like it to
start in colomn 1.
This is the same for all versions of JAWS from 4-10.

Is there a change I can make, or is it a case of someone needing to
write some new scripts.

Look forward to any help you can offer.

 Good morning everyone.

Before I switched from verizons dsl service to that of time warners
roadrunner service, after I made the switch, I noticed that when I
press the control key m combination which is supposed too be the one
that checks for any incomingmail, after I press it, their's no message
that says, checking for messages on acut...@nyc.rr.com. I have my
email set too check for messages every minute. But when I had service
through verizon, that didn't matter, as it would check for messages
anyway. Could this have anything to do with roadrunner service? or is
there a setting that Needs too be changed under tools options.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS speaking all open windows?

Hi Folks,
A friend of mine is using Jaws 10.
No matter what application he opens, and then goes down to the bottom of say

Just for example, JAWS will say:
Skype, JAWS, Outlook express, Microsoft Word, My computer and so on...

use the JAWS key +2 on the qwerty Rowe. this is a toggle, so when you press
this combination, it will say:
Characters and pressing the combination again will say Words, and then both
characters and words and then JAWS will say none.
You can then choose which you prefer.
