I could be mistaken, but I believe he was referring to OpenBook & Kurzweil
1000, both
of which are outrageously expensive, though I've worked with Open Book & really
like
it.

Hey all,

From the description on the website, it looks like Calendar Magic is
serious overkill. Frankly, I don't need to know what day it is under the
Tibetan calendar I also wonder how well it works with JAWS,
considering that there are numerous options for changing colors, etc.
within the software.

I have used the crude but effective Talking Toolbox from
http://www.braillesuperstore.com for months. It features numerous
reminder functions, alarm clocks and the like. No, it's not free, and I
seldom use any of the other tools in the box (basic word processor,
e-mail), but as a calendar I have not found anything easier to use. Just
my opinion.

Subject: Focus Issues with Jaws 9

I'm trying to help my boyfriend Steve configure his Vista OS to work as well as
it
can with the new Jaws. There were some problems when he was running 8.0 with
Vista,
but it seems we are having quite a few more focus issues with 9.0. The techs at
FS,
we have talked with 2 different ones now, are doing what they call an
"escalation" on
the problem because they can't answer why we are having so many problems. They
say it
is a Vista problem, not a Jaws problem, for instance, when trying to use
Contacts
where addresses are stored. Contacts will open, but then give a message that the
program is not responding, & Jaws will not focus at all on any of the items in
the
list view, or speak. I can see why that might lead them to believe that it is OS
related.

But now when we are trying to do certain operations, such as open the What's
New in
Jaws menu, the computer opens nothing, only makes the clicking sound as though
it has
opened the folder. Also, there are times when we enter on a menu to open it, &
we are
simply booted out of the menus altogether, they close, & we are booted to the
desktop.

Can anyone tell me if there are certain things in Vista we need to configure a
certain way to get max performance & better focus with Jaws 9? Apologies if this
question has already been addressed.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: [JAWS-Users] Address Program Compatible with Vista

2007-12-10 Thread Rhonda Selby
Thanks for the tip on Anytime Kerryann. I would have to buy a different version
of
Office 2007 because the version I have is the student edition & doesn't have MS
Outlook. I also have an old version of Anytime, but perhaps it won't cost much
to
upgrade, will have to check it out.

Thanks again,
Rhonda

Dear Rhonda,

You can use Microsoft outlook quite successfully for that purpose. There is
also the programme "anytime" which I have found very useful.

Unless it is a Jaws 8 issue, I haven't been able to use contacts at all. I open
it up
& it simply doesn't talk & when I go to close the program, it takes it a while
to
respond & close. We are waiting on a good Jaws 9 CD to arrive.

Hello everyone,
When I'm in my Outlook Express inbox arrowing through some of my unread
messages jaws
will say collapsed on some of them. It doesn't say this on all of them just a
few of
them. How can I get jaws to stop saying collapsed? I went to the jaws users

Express stuff, but I didn't see anything pertaining to this particular problem.
 Your
help fixing this problem will be most appreciated!
