Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws not reading messages automatically

I am using Outlook Express as my mail server.

When I access my mail after a reboot or turning the computer on and go to
my mail and open a message Jaws will not read automatically. To have Jaws
read the message I must use the insert and v to access the verbosity
settings and choose the read messages automatically on. I then close and
I get the message settings have been saved. This choice will only last
until I reboot or turn the computer off and find Jaws has reverted to the
off selection rather than maintaining the choice I made.

My question is there someplace else that I must make a choice to make it
permanent? I am using the latest update of Jaws.

Any help would be appreciated

Regards,
   Joe

Have you tried google.com/ie? it returns a cleaner page than just plain
old Google. But it doesn't show as many results. When I look for a phone
number, for example, plain old google will give me name and address
information if it's available, but google/ie won't. Nonetheless, it's
lots and lots easier to read the results with google/ie.

Good evening David,

I'm not sure that there are any features of JAWS 10 that will assist you
with form fields on employment applications.

Can you provide us with an example of a site that isn't working correctly
for you so that we can try to figure out what the problem may be?

Thanks,

Hiya

I have had something similar to what Chrissie is describing. I'm also
100% positive I don't have any viruses.

what I've done is to save the message by hitting ctrl S. close the email
completely then reopen it from the drafts folder.

When jaws does this trick, it will read the to, from, subject lines but
not read the body of the email. it doesn't even say blank, it's like jaws
isn't there.

very weird. but with me, this problem doesn't happen all the time. it's
totally random.

Thanks

Going to what I told you before, I forgot I did delete the file that
carried the virus before I ran the restore. Alternately, you can try to
repair your Jaws in case it is the program. You can do that by hitting
the installation, and you'll get to the selection where it'll ask you, if
you want to modify, repair, or I think reinstall. Just hit the repair.
I still think it is a virus.

whenever i am writing a mail or replying to one and use any reading
keystroke combinations it seems like it is just jumping betweeen words
because all i hear is jaws saying 'space' instead of what should be the
text or word read out load. maybe that will help someone to figure out

Hi Mike,
Notice the "no" in the code, it turns off all balloon notifications.
You can reverse the process and re-enable them by substituting "Yes" for
"NO" keeping the quotes intact and reimport it into your registry.

Hi,
You can paste the below registry code into notepad, save it with a .reg

whether to add it to your registry.

Hi.
I've always hated the balloons so I got rid of all of them. That might not
be what you want but if you know how to work the registry edit there is a
simple hack for it. (For XP in any case.) I don't remember it at the

and I'll dig up the how to on it for you.

I installed IE8. I had IE7 and I don't think it's that much better than IE7
so far. I might change that opinion as I use it more. We shall see.
However, in your case it would be a real improvement over IE6 I think.

Good evening,

Have you tried lookng these concepts up in the JAWS Help Topics? There
should be an overview of each in the help system.

You can access Help Topics by:

1. JAWSKey + J to open the JAWS menu

2. Select the Help menu item

3. Select the JAWS Help Topics menu item.

Good morning,

To adjust the amount of punctuation that JAWS speaks:

1. Open the JAWS menu

2. Select the Options sub menu

3. Select the Voices sub menu

4. Select Global Adjustment...

5. Tab until you hear Voice Punctuation and choose between the options of
None, Some, Most and All

[JAWS-Users] Word 2007

2009-03-30 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
I wanted to know if anybody knows the keys to hit when reading alignment. For
example, on a line of typed text you go over three words and it is underlined.
You want to know how far it is from the left margin and it also tells you that
it is underlined. It has been a couple of years since I used my old Office XP.
Ins+f just reads the fonts, line spacing etc.. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi list,
I did a system restore on my Desktop. Afterwards, I found that Jaws 10 had
stopped loading automatically at start up.
I found the Jaws 10 icon on my desktop and pressed enter. I then went
into options and then basics. I checked the "run Jaws automatically" check
box. However, when I reboot my computer, I find Jaws 9 came up. Am I
following the correct steps to get Jaws 10 to start automatically?

P.S Jaws 10 was starting automatically before the system restore.

thanks Jason

work. You should roll back To Firefox 3.1 to get Webvisum to work.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Firefox 3.5 B4/Webvisum

2009-06-08 Thread ROGELIO TERRAZAS
What it was for some reason after installing it and re-installing it, also
using the System Restore. I had 3.0 working well before I tried 3.5 B4.
What I ended up doing was totally deleteing out everything and re-installing
even then it seemed funny. Webvisum still didn't want to work. For some
reason or another when I would re-install Webvisum my registration would
show up in the registration under Webvisum options in the Tools/add ons.
But what I had to do was disable it in the Tools menu. Hit the restart
button. Then I enabled it all over again in the same menu.. And it worked
fine. If you have any further questions feel free too ask me. I am using
Jaws 10.0/ Vista 64 Bit.

I did that by going on their web page. I first tried it by using a .exe

and then look for a file that says Install.exe which isn't in the folder.
With the .exe file I got off the web page, it starts the installation then
it says it has been interrupted and it did not complete the installation.

[JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer

2009-06-10 Thread ROGELIO TERRAZAS
I wanted to ask. I noticed that I had two different Internet Explorer in my
All Programs. One said 64 Bit and the other didn't. I opened both of them and
I noticed that the one I was using had some add-ons I installed and the other
didn't. I am using Vista 64 Bit with Jaws 10.0. I deleted the one that didn't
say 64. The thing is I deleted it with the application key. Internet does not
show up in the control panel. How can I make sure I deleted it correctly? I
am figuring that it was probably 32 Bit. Is that possible? Thanks any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook express problems, replying or writing a mail

2009-03-08 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
Going to what I told you before, I forgot I did delete the file that carried
the virus before I ran the restore. Alternately, you can try to repair your
Jaws in case it is the program. You can do that by hitting the
installation, and you'll get to the selection where it'll ask you, if you
want to modify, repair, or I think reinstall. Just hit the repair. I still
think it is a virus.

   Chrissy,
Is your message pane turned on? If Jaws is saying space like that, it
probably means that it isn't focused on where the cursor is currently
located.
- Try going into your View section and making sure that the Message
Pane is turned off.

That gives Jaws real fits if it's on.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook express problems, replying or writing a mail

2009-03-08 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
Maybe you can try to totally reinstall Jaws. It only takes a few minutes.
I have dealt with similar problems in the past. I truly think that will
work. You might have one of those very secretive virus's. Believe me I
know all about those. I have been a Jaws user for 14 years and I am a
college graduate. When I lived in the dorm, a lot of those students used to
like to make those.

yes I did but still has not changed. Tonite I have a sighted friend coming
to visit and will ask her exactly to describe what is going on on the
screen. she does not know anything about jaws but maybe then I will do
better describing what exactly is going on while jaws does this 'space'
reading thing.

ok for whatever it's worth,...like I was sure no virus or anything. it was

working fine now, i compared all the settings for verbosity on both the pc

I have my Windows set up regularly. I just hit Ctrl Esc and I the start
menu I press C for Control Panel then I just hit A till its on Accessibility
Option. I think I know the way you got it set up. When you get to Control
Panel Tab and look for Classic View. After you hit that then you can just
the letters in their to get what you want. I remember when I didn't have
the Control Panel in Classic View and I used to run into the same problem.
I hope this helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Weird Outlook Express problem

Hi, all,

For some reason, when I type a message into Outlook Express which has
multiple paragraphs, using the control key in conjunction with the up and
down arrows will not read the previous and next paragraphs. It just
jumps me to either the top or bottom of the message. Curiously, this is
only happening in Outlook Express. I looked in the keyboard manager, and
it indicates that control-up-arrow and control-down-arrow are supposed to
say the previous and next paragraphs, but they don't.

I did not notice this problem until a few days ago when I installed JAWS
Script Exchange. I'm wondering if that would have modified my Outlook
Express script files? It is the only thing I can think of. If anyone has
any suggestions on how to fix this problem, please let me know.

BTW: I am using JAWS 9.0, Windows XP, and Outlook Express 2003.

Thanks,
Erin
