Re: [JAWS-Users] reading headers and footers in MSWord
Hi Afu, While I don't know absolutely for sure, I don't think there is a way to read headers & footers except as you have done. I have to both read and create them routinely, and the only way I can do it is to go through the view menu. Maybe someone else will have another suggestion. [JAWS-Users] Word 2003 question resolved
For anyone who has followed the thread on my Word 2003 problem, I wanted to say how it got resolved. The problem was that despite verbocity settings to announce various formatting changes, Jaws suddnely stopped responding to the settings. Thanks to questions and observations from Annette, I opened a document in Jaws 8 and found that the verbocity settings caused the appropriate Jaws info to be spoken. Opening the same document in Jaws 9 didn't. As best I could remember, I had only made one settings change in Jaws 9 recently. To stop the speaking of superscript, I unchecked enhanced edit in text processing in the configuration manager. That did the trick for ending the announcement of superscript, but it also overrode verbocity settings such as style and indent announcements. So, enhanced edit is now checked again, and I'll try one of the other suggestions for stopping the announcement of superscript. Thank you. Re: [JAWS-Users] Word 2003 question
Thanks, Annette, I have tried both normal and print views, but neither setting has made a difference. It's one of those crazy, quirky things that seems to come out of nowhere. Sometimes when one of my sighted coworkers uses my computer settings get changed a bit, but no one has used Word on my computer for weeks, and this problem only started a couple days ago. A coworker was using my computer recently to help reconfigure a presentation, but that was in Powerpoint. I can't imagine that caused a change in Word, but I'm trying to think of everything. If I hit insert f in Word, Jaws still gives me the font, formatting, etc., so at least I can check stuff that way. I don't understand, though, why Jaws is ignoring some of the verbocity settings. Please pass along any other ideas.
