You can't do a capital sign in computer braille. You add dot 7 to the
letter to capitalize it.

necessarily JAWS specific.

I wonder if anyone on the list is using Text Cloner Pro? It sells for $100.

If you already have JAWS, you don't really need a self voicing program
like Kurzweil or OpenBook.

I would really be interested to know if anyone is using this.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-19 Thread Tim Bennett
You need to do a cntrol shift d before you modify the sound scheme. This
wil put you in the default settings which covers most programs.

Microsoft Word has it's own sound scheme so you will have to modify that
as well to work in Word.

Re: [JAWS-Users] how do you turn on the PC cursor on a laptop

2013-03-30 Thread Tim Bennett
JAWS key plus P will turn on the JAWS cursor and JAWS key plus left
bracket (to the right of P) will route JAWS cursor to PC cursor.

JAWS key plus semi colon will turn on the PC cursor and JAWS key plus
apostrophe will route the PC cursor to the JAWS cursor.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Regarding vocalizer voices

2013-02-15 Thread Tim Bennett
You can modify the sound scheme to play a .wav file for capital letters.
 I use click4.

This is the second option on the miscellaneous tab when you are editing
the sound scheme.

You will need to change this in the default settings ( control shift D).
For this to take affect in Microsoft Word you will need to open
settings while running Word and change it there also.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Windows 8 And JAWS

2012-11-24 Thread Tim Bennett

It really works well with a screen reader.

Pressing the windows key will bring up the start screen, if you start
typing you are placed in a search box for apps / programs. Windows plus
W puts you in a search box for settings. Windows plus F puts you in a
search box for files.

Windows plus I gives you the settings by category and windows plus X
gives you additional settings.

Windows plus C brings up the charm bar which I do not use at all.

I have an ultrabook with a solid state drive and it boots in 8 seconds.

The price is in euros. It depends on wether you get a single machine
key or a three machine key. They also have more US english voices. I
think you can buy a five voice package but it's kind of expensive.

I think I paid a little over $100 for two voices on three machines. The
voices are extremely high quality. They don't go as fast as eloquence
but they can go much faster than the RealSpeak voices.

[JAWS-Users] Windows 8 / JAWS 14 Installation Problem

2012-10-31 Thread Tim Bennett

Hey Everyone,

I have a new ultrabook running Windows 8. I am connecting to the
internet with Verizon using a USB modem. I am browsing using Internet
Explorer 10 and Firefox 16. I am getting my email using Thunderbird. I
am running NVDA which can check for and install updates without any problem.

I downloaded JAWS 14 64 bit using another machine and installed it on my
Windows 8 machine. It said there was a problem with the internet
connection and some components were not installed. I have removed and
reinstalled JAWS several times with the same error. The internet
connection is fine. When I try to update authorization it says there is
a problem with the internet connection. If I do a check for updates on
the help menu it says there is a problem with the internet connection.

The internet connection is working with no problems. Only JAWS can't
find it. I don't think it's trying to use the connection because it
comes back instantly and says there is a problem with the connection.

I have successfully installed JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 laptop using the
USB modem and the Verizon software. (VZAccess Manager.)

Not sure what to check or why JAWS doesn't recognize the connection.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
