Netbooks are to small to feature a CD drive, there is no room for that hardware.

The speakers are not state of the art of course. So I would
recommend listening to music you might want to put on your
netbook over earphones or something. But it is ok for jaws
and audiobooks and so forth. My netbook has two usb outputs
but you can get small usb hubs, which is what I use
sometimes when I need to hook up more stuff. For on the go,
the two usb ports are, for me usually, enough. Regards

  how is the sound
quality on one of these gizmos? And how many USB ports does
  it have for
connecting all your peripherals - printer, scanner, external
  drive,etc.?

[JAWS-Users] .mov DVD burner?

window eyes, thunder, NVDA, hal, and system access.
am not compare among them and JAWS, but am actually decided to compare
between it'sadvantages and features in some situations!.
such as navigation of the internet, dealing in websites which contain
difficult stuff while accessing images, etc.
actually, am looking for mailing list which discuss the screen
reading software as such general issue!!, not focus on certain one.
  anybody could help?
i know quitely that is JAWS mailing list, but my question is so
similar, so i would want to demonstrate it here.

  Hi Folks,

I keep getting the information balloon that keeps telling me that messenger
is going to sit nicely in my system tray so I can be notified of various things
I probably don't really care about.

It also says click here to stop popping up this annoying message.

Well, how the heck do I do that?

I have checked the system tray for this information, but no dice.

I've tried to look through Jaws' help topics and have done a search through
the help indexes and all I've found is how to access them using a Braille
display, but nothing using a keyboard.

Can anyone help me with this annoying task?

Thank you all for letting me rant, and for, hopefully, giving me a solution
to this dilemma. Grins.

  Hi Listers,
I installed IE8 after I understood it was out of Beta, but the
microsoft Web site still refers to the Beta release as the most
current download. While in IE8 I experienced some sound
distortion. The only way I could remove the sound distortion was
to unload jaws and hot-key it back. I am running the latest
version of jaws 10 and XP Pro. I have been using IE7 without any
problems I would appreciate any help on this topic.

If you want JFW to start with control+alt+j, just put j into the shortcut
box, not all of the keys pressed together.

 Hi All,

We created a hot key for Jaws 10.x through the properties shortcut page
on a friends computer. When she unloads Jaws with the Insert + F4 key
stroke, then tries to restart with control, alt, + J keystroke nothing
happens. She then has to reboot the computer to get Jaws running again.
What are we doing wrong. She is running XP Pro Jaws 10.x. All advice
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] [JAWS-USERS] [jaws users] jaws 10 and heading levels

2009-01-25 Thread chase crispin
You don't need to use Jaws key f 6, you can just press h for heading.
On Sun, 25 Jan 2009 15:04:56 -0500, Kate wrote:

In jaws 9 I used to be able to go to websites and hit the number 3 to
get to various heading levels associated with the number 3, such as
google results. Now as I am using jaws 10, I cannot go straight to the
first level 3 heading on the page if there are other level one or level
two headings before the level 3 heading. Why is this? It's not as much
a hastle on google as I only have to hit the number 1, then the number
two then the number three to get to the first search result, but it's
still less efficient. It's even more complicated on other websites such
as on my blog website. Just to get to my blog, which is at a level 2
heading, I have to hit a 1 and then a 2 just to get past some other
preliminary stuff on my page, and then because there's another level
one heading that appears before my blog begins, I have to hit the
number one again and then number two again before arriving at the area
of my blog. With Jaws 9 I only ever had to hit the number 2 twice and
then I was at the blog.

On another frequently visited website, there's about six level one
headings before I come to the only heading level 2 is on the page. I
cannot simply start at the top of the page and press the number to to
find my place easily and quickly. I have to either use the insert f6
key and scroll through everything or i have to hit the number one six
times before it will even acknowledge that the level two heading even
exists.

As I continue around the web, this problem keeps slowing me down every
time. I've tried repairing jaws and nothing is helping the problem. Has
Freedom scientific just stopped supporting their former ease of heading
navigation now or something? Anyone else noticed this at all? Any work
around or setting I could try changing so this isn't happening to me?

Thanks for any feedback you might have.

Kate
