[JAWS-Users] spotify blind use with windows 8

2013-01-09 Thread christopher.reagan
Hi there all:

I'm having some issues reading playlists and searching with spotify blind
and windows 8. Any suggestions as to how to fix this issue? For instance I
go to search for a list of songs from a group and can't get the list using
the pc curser.

Take care all

Chris Reagan

Hi Rich,
I changed the subject line to better reflect the topic,
and you can give this a try:

http://www.blind-computing.com/personal/pages/passkeeper.html

A password manager or vault, is simply a program to store your passwords
safely on your computer.
I use the above referenced program to store mine.

Several strategies for dealing with passwords are:

Use the same password everywhere but add the name of the site to the end
 of the password.

Use a password vault. That way you only have to remember one password,
then you can grab the password out of the vault, and you don't have to
remember each individual password, or username for that fact. And, you
can make the passwords extremely complex since you don't have to remember
 them.

You could do the whole spreadsheet thing.

Also, one thing I did years ago, when I got frustrated because any
username I came up with was never accepted on every web site, there are
only so many combinations of Dan rossi DRossi DRossiBirthDay blah blah
blah. I just recreated all my accounts with a nonsense word that no one
else would ever use. Now I have the same username on every account. Which
 is helpful.

Also, you can use grade two braille as a great way to come up with some
very funky passwords. Lots of numbers and punctuation marks and no
 dictionary words.

 Hi Christopher,
What version of jaws are you using? if you are using 8 and 9, and possibly
7, the driver is already installed.
Once you have made sure your brailleNote is connected to your computer, do
 the following:
 1. go to the jaws window.
 2. once you are focused on it, press alt U to get into the utilities menu.
 3. press B for the speech synthesizer and braille manager.
 4. A dialogue box should come up and jaws should say speech synthesizers
 closed.
 5. press the right arrow to open the list of speech synthesizers.
 6. arrow down until you hear keynote gold SA or brailleNote.
 7. Tab to the add, remove or change devices button and press enter.
 8. When you have done this, jaws will say: select the device type you want
 to add, change, or remove.
 9. there are 2 radio buttons. make sure the speech synthesizers radio
 button
 is checked.
 10. if it is unchecked, press space to check it.
 11. tab until you hear jaws say next button and press enter.
 12. you arenow in a list of speech synthesizers. arrow down until you
 hear:
 Keynote gold SA or BrailleNote.
 13. make sure that option is checked.
 14. Tab until you hear jaws say next button and press enter.
 15. Jaws now asks you to select the synthesizer you will use each time you
 start the program.
 16. Arrow down until you hear: keynote gold SA or brailleNote.
 17. Tab to the finish button and press enter.
 18. A message will come up telling you must restart jaws for the changes
 to
 take effect.
 19. quit jaws by pressing alt F4
 20. Restart jaws by going into the run dialogue box and typing jaws
 followed
by what ever version number you have without spaces.

You should now hear the keynote gold voice saying what is on your computer
 screen.
Hope this helps and good luck. I appologize in advance if any of my
 instructions are unclear.

I am self employed. I have always been able to purchase sma's for both
Jaws
and open book. My adaptive equipment was purchased by my state
rehabilitation services in 97. Then a hardware synthesizer had to be
purchased as well, amounting to 1200 dollars above the cost of the
 adaptive
software. The sma's only cost 100 dollars every two or so years. If one
saves 20 dollars a month for that length of time sufficient money can be
saved . I don't think this is to much to save considering the
 unnecessary
items each of us purchase because we are human and have wants as well as
 having needs.

 Excuse me.

86% of blind adults unemployed in the U.S. (best as I can
 figure..tough statistic to find).

Don't know about the rest of you, but with JAWS SMA fees, paying for
the latest JAWS because I don't have an SMA yet... then add $600.00
for either Open Book or Kurzweil

Excuse me... but what banks are y'all robbing to get this kind of cash?

Sorry to sound disgruntled...and I'm sure this will be flagged as
off-topic, but come on! Even somebody earning $75K/year with a small
family could not reasonably be expected to shell out that kind of jing.

[JAWS-Users] system restore and jaws

2007-12-29 Thread christopher.reagan
Hello all:

I am having a problem with jaws and system restore. I attempted to use
system restore on my computer to roll it back to an earlier time to fix some
illegal operations issues with some other programs. Needless to say now I'm
getting the following when I try to run jaws. Eloq.jls is missing one or
more shared components are missing please re install jaws to fix this
problem.

Okay I figured as much so I try to do this and hear's what I get.

This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it or contact the application vender to
verify that this is a valid windows installer package.

Now I'm at my wits end with this. I even get this error when de installing
jaws 9. Can someone give me any suggestions short of undoing the
restoration process?

Thanks for your help in advance
