I can work it ok with jaws 11 but I have to use lots of jaws cursoring
and num pad.

It reminds me a lot of winmx as far as it's interface goes.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone who has better script writing skills
than I have can write scripts for spotify.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Don't Install Rapport

Bank of America has just come out with a new program called Rapport
that is

supposed to supplement antivirus software in protecting online
communications. I am running XP, IE 8, and Jaws 12, latest update. I
installed Rapport, and it protected me by making Internet Explorer 8.0
totally unusable. No links on any page I went to. I tried using the
Rapport console to shut down; no luck. Unable to shut it down, and
unable
to uninstall it from the control panel. When I tried uninstalling, a
web
page came up which I browsed with the Jaws cursor. I clicked on Chat
with a

representative, and it said sorry, nobody is available.

I ended up having to do a system restore to get rid of it.

I'll be curious to know if others have success with this program.

Yes, I've already sent a message to Bank of America.

 punctuation
manager functions in Jaws does not work. As I mentioned I had UK Jaws

it to work. This is why in the end I reverted to Dictionary Manager to get
 the same affect.

 Chris,
What doesn't work? I'm late on this thread. When you customize a
punctuation sign, you tell JAWS to SILENCE non, some, most, or all
 speaking
of it. thus, when you have set apostrophe [or quote] to 'all' in the
default or the application configuration, it will not then be spoken at
 all.

 HTH, somehow.

Here is a question from a friend.
I don't know the answer because I only use some punctuation.
 Hi, all,
I have probably a very simple question here, but I can't figure it out.
 I
like to have my JAWS set to say all punctuation, because in my opinion,
 JAWS
 doesn't
have enough expression to convey to me how people are saying things.
 Anyway,
my question is this: I have it set to all punctuation, but I don't want
 it
saying ' in the middle of every contracted word, such as don't,
 doesn't,
isn't, etc. How do I fix it so it won't do that? It's annoying, but I
 don't
want to set it to most punctuation, because then it won't give me
 periods
and exclamation points. I know some of you prefer to read without the
 punctuation,
but it personally bugs me because I can't glean the tone of a person's
 email
when I do that. I've gone into utilities, as someone told me to do, and
 tried
to customize the punctuation that way, but it's still giving me the ' in
every contracted word. I may just have to live with it, but if there's a
 way
 to
change that, it would be great to know how. I'm using JAWS 9.

You could try using Dictionary Manager to substitute space for
 apostrophe.
I have not tried this with your setup. However I have done this to
substitute space for ( and ) as I have had to read a lot of legal
 stuff
and Jaws reading every ( and ) irritated me.

Technically you should be able to adjust this in configuration manager but
even with tech support present at my PC we could not successfully amend
punctuation settings. For some reason the settings did not work on my
version of Jaws 8, this sounds like the same problem you are getting. In
the end I resorted to the Dictionary Manager method which has worked
 well.

I gave them my name, told them whare I was from and I told them I was
totally blind and they manually registerd me and sent me a key.
Then I pasted the key from the clipboard in to the registration field.
I've also written to them suggesting alternative methods to there
 inaccessible captcha.
I hope they will change things so I can recommend avast to more people.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] AVAST VP License Registration

I have downloaded AVAST on my computer but I have not been able to
complete form for license. Can this be done without sighted help and if
 so,
how? I have tried filling out the form for license several times but fail
every time. If I am overlooking something, I sure would appreciate some
 advice on this. Thanks much,

 Best wishes,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Max Spyware Detector

2008-05-12 Thread ryan Perdue
I have used this program once on another system and it was very unclear as
far as accessibility.
It was hard determining what was going on.
I personally wouldn't use this product as I feel even something like the
free version of spyware doctor is better.
here is a link to a review on max spyware detector from pc magazine
they also have a review for avast on the same page.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Max Spyware Detector

I was doing a bit of research on top rated Spyware and Adaware removers and
came across Max Spyware Detector. Has anyone tried testing this with JAWS
for useability from a screenreader stand point?

 Thanks,

 Kevin

[JAWS-Users] jaws 9 demo not displaying links on a page

2008-05-09 Thread ryan Perdue
Hi, I'm looking at a grocery store shopping site at products.
I notice that in jfw 7 and 8, I see links for products.
With jaws 9, I do not.
Some of these links just say numbers and then they have the product title under
them but, they are clickable links none the less.
I still have jfw set to defaults and I'm thinking it's just a setting I need to
fix.
to see what I'm talking about

[JAWS-Users] problem with jaws on a web page

2008-05-08 Thread ryan Perdue

here's how this appears with jfw 9 demo
494 B.Curry C Fr 2 1 2 2 3 5 2 1 10 L L 100 0 0 -- -- F
f
in previous versions of jfw, there would then be a checkbox next to that
player.
  Instead, jfw 9 reads
494 B.Curry C Fr 2 1 2 2 3 5 2 1 10 L L 100 0 0 -- -- F
F a second time and then lists another player which finally has the first
checkbox after his name.
Basically, in other versions of jfw, each player is listed just once with a
checkbox directly after his name.
I'm wondering how to fix this.
The website is www.dolphinsim.com but, you have to have an account there to
see the place whare I'm talking about so sorry if my description is vague.
I just can't figure out any other way of explaining it.

[JAWS-Users] firewall with jaws

2008-05-06 Thread ryan Perdue
Hi, I'm putting together a computer for a friend.
I have a router and my system is configured so I don't need a software firewall.
However, I need to put one on they're computer and I'm not sure which one would
be the easiest to configure with jfw.
