[JAWS-Users] Auto Sizer

2013-06-06 Thread Donnie Parrett
I have the auto sizer program installed on my Windows 7 machine. I use the
BibleGateway site very often and I do not know how to get it to
automatically be maximized when I open it. Could someone please give me
instructions on how to do this with auto sizer?

Thanks,
Donnie

Since I am noticing that people are in some cases having problems with 1.7 I am
keeping it up on the server but also I am placing 1.6 back up there as well for
those who might just happen to need that version.

If memory serves that program is problematic on windows 7. What version are
you using?

I recall a program although it is not free but I forget what I paid for it
that works called Max Monkey. I haven't used it for a while but it works
well. I have been using a script for years that auto maximizes a window if
you are using the classic view in windows 7 quite well. It is a jaws script
available on the web site. I admit some folks have needed help to install it
but the procedure is fairly straight forward.

I like scripting, I just wish I was a bit better at doing it or had more
time to expand my ability. Either way it is nice when a plan comes together
so to speak.

I don't think I have ever tried it in IE before or not as there hasn't been
a need.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Auto Sizer

2013-06-07 Thread David Ferrin
It simply runs in the auto start function and if the classic interface is
being used it will find the maximize symbol in the upper right hand corner
of your display and perform a left mouse click maximizing the window. I use
it for notepad and a couple of other programs. I will need to test it in IE
before suggesting it be used there.

If the world allows possibly this afternoon might work, it shouldn't take
very long of course that's what I always say before an entire day gets

Hi David & Don,

I think I could suggest you two other methods to maximize a window.

1. Use SendMessage function. Insert this line in the AutoStart event:
SendMessage(GetAppMainWindow(GetFocus()), 274, 61488, 0). It will
maximize the active window.

2. Use some workaround. It is a simpler method. It needs some refining,
because I write it down from memory. This script toggles window state
between maximized and normal. But you can extend it so, that it supports
only maximized and minimized state.
This script works in all windows having system menu. The menu you can
call with Alt+Space.

Script ToggleRestoreWindow ()
;This script make notepad maximize or restore
Var
String sName, String sShortname ;Get the name of currently open file
SpeechOff ()
TypeKey {Alt+space}
If GetControlAttributes (false)==4 then ;the Restore option is unavailable
TypeKey {x} ;send letter x to current application
Let sName=FormatString (Maximize_l, GetAppTitle ())
Let sShortname=FormatString (Maximize_s, GetAppTitle ())
Else ;windows is currently maximize
EnterKey ()
Let sName=FormatString (restore_l, GetAppTitle ())
Let sShortname=FormatString (restore_s, GetAppTitle ())
EndIf
Pause ()
SpeechOn ()

EndScript

Since you mentioned the first script line go in the auto start event
function for maximizing a message window it seemed reasonable to figure you
are referring to an email client. Since at this time the only client I have
at my disposal is outlook 2007 I checked and mine at least does not have an
auto start event. Obviously I can create such an animal but before I do
please clarify the program you meant.

Actually my inbox and messages always come up maximized so there is no
problem here with that kind of stuff at all so far anyway.

If memory serves Donnie's original question was directed at IE specifically
at a certain web page which I have not had a chance to look at as of yet.
Unfortunately I do not have the original message that started this thread so
Donnie if you would be so kind as to send the address again.

I am going to test your code out, of that you can rest assured as it looks
interesting to me at least. It reminds me of my mainframe days on the old
IBM 3090 but that is another story.

Since you mentioned the first script line go in the auto start event

are referring to an email client. Since at this time the only client I have
at my disposal is outlook 2007 I checked and mine at least does not have an
auto start event. Obviously I can create such an animal but before I do
please clarify the program you meant.

Actually my inbox and messages always come up maximized so there is no

Hi David & Don,

I think I could suggest you two other methods to maximize a window.

1. Use SendMessage function. Insert this line in the AutoStart event:
SendMessage(GetAppMainWindow(GetFocus()), 274, 61488, 0). It will maximize
the active window.

2. Use some workaround. It is a simpler method. It needs some refining,
because I write it down from memory. This script toggles window state
between maximized and normal. But you can extend it so, that it supports
only maximized and minimized state.
This script works in all windows having system menu. The menu you can call
with Alt+Space.
Script ToggleRestoreWindow ()

Hi David,

The second method, the sendig keystrokes method works with all windows
which have system menu, which can be opened by pressing ALT+SPACE keys.
This script simply opens this menu and then presses the "Maximize" menu
item. So it is application independent. It handles all app windows
having this system menu.

exactly who it was that posted it in the first place but it is so simple and
eligant that I am going to start including it in my personal bag of tricks.

1. Use SendMessage function. Insert this line in the AutoStart event:
SendMessage(GetAppMainWindow(GetFocus()), 274, 61488, 0)
;It will maximize the active window.

I took a look at the other part of the first message before trying the above
code which was my error. I don't follow it completely but the fact is it
works which is good enough for this guy. I mean 1 line of code, now that's
my kind of programming.

I found the version 1.6 in the Jaws-users programmes list thanks - however
although I have checked the programme to make a sound when a window is
maximised it does not appear to be doing so - however I don't seem to be
having any of the problems so far associated with the later version.

Re: [JAWS-Users] [JAWS-USERS] auto sizer

2009-04-08 Thread Mandy

Hi David.

I have tried to use auto-sizer but it totally messes up my laptop - I am
using a Dell with Jaws 10 latest build - if I install auto-sizer one of the
things that I cannot do is use my spell-check in Outlook Express as when I
look for a word it will say blank - also it seems to prevent me reading
messages properly with Windows Live Messenger and when I open an email in
Outlook Express it takes me to a different one.
I have tried altering some of the settings in options but my husband who
also uses a Dell but a desktop has no problems with this programme.
Would the earlier version behave differently do you think and if so where
do I get it as I've only tried the version I find by googling it.

[JAWS-Users] Auto-Sizer with Windows 7 & 8

2015-06-10 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Pauline,
I changed the subject line to reflect what we are talking about.
There is an updated version of Auto-Sizer that works with Windows 7, but not
with Windows 8 at this time.
The last time the program was updated was August of 2011, version 1.7.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

Hi,

Does it still work with Windows 8.1?

As I understood it, it did not with 7.

Ah, thanks Rick.

Sorry about the subject line, I realized that I should have done that after
