Re: [JAWS-Users] compacting messages in OE
This option of retrieving them from the Recycle Bin has not been there all these years. it came in perhaps around late 2006. Prior to that, it was very difficult to retrieve [uncompress] the compacted folders. - Original Message - From: "Leonard Morris" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 10:16 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] compacting messages in OE I stated: I would like to turn off and/or disable the message in OE "to free up disk space OE can compact messages." When the folders are compacted they go to the recycle bin. Then and only then as a matter of fact. Re: [JAWS-Users] compacting messages message in OE
You can't turn off or disable it. It betokens something that must be done by OE from time to time to save disk space, as it says. The old copies of folders (.bak files) are stored in the Recycle Bin. Compacting folders is generally a good thing for your computer and the program. Don't worry, be happy. - Original Message - From: "Leonard Morris" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 7:22 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] compacting messages message in OE I would like to turn off and/or disable the message in OE "to free up disk space OE can compact messages." Re: [JAWS-Users] Compacting messages
there apparently used to be an option to switch off the compacting messages announcement, but it is no longer extant as of latest Windows updates, etc. Outlook Express now has to compact messages, if you don't doe it manually, once every 100 closings. - Original Message - From: "Ricque" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Saturday, September 08, 2007 7:33 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Collapsed messages Hi Arianna, There may be a way to hide that dialogue, but I won't know until it pops up again. Having messages compacted automatically, is a good idea. I leave mine set this way, so I don't have to figure it into my routine maintenance. This is a good option for those who store large amounts of messages in Outlook Express. The program actually has a size limit, and when messages are not compacted it becomes bloated and unstable much the same as a hard drive which is close to capacity. I kind of figured that was the case. Thanks for the help. This only occurs every 100 times you leave the program. It is a maintanence operation that is normal for the program. As far as collapsed messages, this is an option which keeps all of the messages grouped by conversation. The idea behind it, is to keep messages sorted so they can be acted upon as a group, instead of individually. Whether messages are sorted this way, is entirely up to the user. No, you do not have to have messages collapsed, Outside of those 2 items, if you are getting a specific message, pass it along, and I can tell you more about it.
