[JAWS-Users] Free internet tutorial for download.

2008-08-07 Thread Lisa
After long and careful consideration, I have made my Internet tutorial
available as a free download. No support will be given and no further
upgrades will be made. If people want to work with me for a fee, contact me
and we'll discuss it. My prices are more than reasonable.

I have made the tutorial available as a free download for two reasons:
First, there was not enough interest to justify me doing more work on it to
keep it current. It is still very relevant and will remain so for a long
time but if I were still charging for it, I would have added new
information, such as information about Webvisum and some basic information
about using firefox.

The second reason the tutorial is now free is because I deeply believe that
Internet access is vital to the blind community and the skills needed to use
the Internet are not well known nor are they often well taught. I don't
want the more than one-hundred hours I put into the tutorial to go to waste
and I want to do something about the state of poor Internet use found among
most blind Internet users.

Unfortunately, the blind community gets, or doesn't get, what it supports or
doesn't support. Since there was not anywhere near enough sustained
interest in the tutorial as an item to be purchased, I am unlikely to
produce more tutorials in the future. I would advise those in the blind
Internet community to consider that much valuable material may be lost, not
just from me, but from many others who might provide it because of lack of
support for such work. A high quality tutorial of this type is generally
not going to be produced for free. It requires far too much work and time.

Here are two download links. File sharing sites often have temporary
problems. If one doesn't work, try the other.
http://www.divshare.com/download/5046375-ece
http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=b2fbfd6ebe599f5a9308c4d55084f2c4

The Filesend link may be the easiest and more reliable of the two. Try that
link first. Look for the button near the bottom of the page to start the
download. It may say download button or just the word button. It may have
some code along with the word button but it's the only button near the
bottom of the page.

It is very important to read the first two sections of the readme file
before using the tutorial.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Free internet tutorial for download.

After long and careful consideration, I have made my Internet tutorial
available as a free download. No support will be given and no further
upgrades will be made. If people want to work with me for a fee, contact
 me
and we'll discuss it. My prices are more than reasonable.

I have made the tutorial available as a free download for two reasons:
First, there was not enough interest to justify me doing more work on it
 to
keep it current. It is still very relevant and will remain so for a long
time but if I were still charging for it, I would have added new
information, such as information about Webvisum and some basic
 information
 about using firefox.

The second reason the tutorial is now free is because I deeply believe
 that
Internet access is vital to the blind community and the skills needed to
 use
the Internet are not well known nor are they often well taught. I don't
want the more than one-hundred hours I put into the tutorial to go to
 waste
and I want to do something about the state of poor Internet use found
 among
 most blind Internet users.

Unfortunately, the blind community gets, or doesn't get, what it supports
 or
doesn't support. Since there was not anywhere near enough sustained
interest in the tutorial as an item to be purchased, I am unlikely to
produce more tutorials in the future. I would advise those in the blind
Internet community to consider that much valuable material may be lost,
 not
just from me, but from many others who might provide it because of lack
 of
support for such work. A high quality tutorial of this type is generally
not going to be produced for free. It requires far too much work and
 time.

Here are two download links. File sharing sites often have temporary
problems. If one doesn't work, try the other.

 http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=b2fbfd6ebe599f5a9308c4d55084f2c4

The Filesend link may be the easiest and more reliable of the two. Try
 that
link first. Look for the button near the bottom of the page to start the
download. It may say download button or just the word button. It may
 have
some code along with the word button but it's the only button near the
 bottom of the page.

It is very important to read the first two sections of the readme file
 before using the tutorial.

 Gene!
