If you take away that one line, what are you left with? You're original question was if there is a central place to place *.ini files, and if so, will the programs know to look for them there. My answer to that was that *.ini files do not belong in one central place, as they are placed all over your computer. For example, you'll find *.ini files inside the Windows folder, the C-Cleaner folder, to use your example, and various other folder, depending on your computer's make up. You cannot move a *.ini file from it's centralized program location and expect the program to find it. I honestly do not know what happens when you move a program's *.ini file. In the case of Jaws, just to use an example, when you delete the default.ini file from your Jaws settings folder, Jaws simply re-creates that file using Jaws default settings, which means once that file is deleted, you have to re-configure to your tastes. Can I say with any definitive sureness that other programs do the same, no, but I can that that each program on your computer contains, at least, one *.ini file. Hopefully, that explains my explanation. Smiles. Scorpio -Original Message- From: Mike B. Re: [JAWS-Users] gold wave scripts
Okay, being the INI file holds the settings for a program, that's why I assumed it was supposed to go in the program's folder on the root of the C drive, or whatever the letter designation would be for the operating system. So, let's use CCleaner as an example. If I put the CCleaner.INI file in my Documents folder, would CCleaner still be able to access the settings, since an .INI file doesn't belong anywhere specific? I ask this because, using CCleaner again as an example, if I change the settings in CCleaner on 1 computer, & want our other computers to use the same CCleaner settings I copy the .INI file from the 1 computer & paste it into the CCleaner folder on the other cleaners. So, from what you're saying that .INI file can go anywhere instead of the CClener folder? Please, I'm not challenging you, but just trying to get .INI files straight in my head. Thanks much. [JAWS-Users] Gold Wave scripts
First time using Gold wave with Windows 10. I had to update to latest version for it to work properly. I need to put the scripts in again. I looked at the script page on JAWS download. Only question I have is do I copy the ini file that is there along with the others to the my scripts section of JAWS 17? Or, does that ini file go somewhere else. Re: [JAWS-Users] Gold Wave Scripts
I installed Goldwave on my Win 7 64 bit laptop but when I downloaded scripts from the Programs page the scripts would not extract to the proper place in Jaws 11. I tried two other self extracting things that would not extract to the right places, either. Also I paid for my Goldwave key over a year ago. Is it supposed to work for newer versions of Goldwave or just the one that was current at the time? Which version works best with Jaws 11? Re: [JAWS-Users] Gold Wave Scripts
There is a known problem installing scripts on a 64 bit system from a self installing JAWS Script Exchange (JSX) package. Until a compatible version of JSX is available and the packages are rebuilt, this will not work. In the mean time, I think the only work-around is to install the scripts on your 64 bit system manually!
