The Leasey Basic package costs more, and does more in that it speaks additional help dialogue prompts in a female voice . The Advanced Package adds some additional functionalities to JAWS, and workd from the keyboard. Thus, the Advanced Package is rather like a set of scripts that do additional things - in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, Facebook, Chicken Nugget, Winamp, Foobar2000, and some more programs. Before you buy, there is an evaluation version the potential user could try. I tried the evaluation of the Advanced package. I decided that Leasey is not for me at least for now. I happen to believe that one thing the user should be able to do, particularly if s/he is an advanced user, is disable Leasey while running the version of JAWS it was installed in. From my reading of the documentation, one cannot do that. If one does want to disable it, one has to either uninstall it or use a version of JAWS that Leasey was not installed into. You can find out on the web site, some of the figures are in pounds, some dollars, and some confusing as both say pounds. I tried to buy it, for the help it give with iTunes mostly, but can't remember PayPal password, can't find a place to create a log in with the site, it does not recognize me, played with demo for a couple of days, and other than iTunes did not find a lot I needed, but they do say somewhere that games are coming which did interest me. I'd buy the Advanced version if I could just for the iTunes help. I was considering it my birthday present until I tried for four days to get it and never succeeded. I can manage well enough without it as buying accessibly seems not to be possible from here. From my reading of the documentation, one cannot do that. If one does want to disable it, one has to either uninstall it or use a version of JAWS that Leasey was not installed into. Just to reiterate: There are good things about Leasey. But it may not be for all users. It will suit some very well. -Original Message- From: Tim Ford Sent: Thursday, July 16, 2015 10:42 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Leasey with JAWS Just changing the subject line to be more descriptive. Re: [JAWS-Users] Leasey with JAWS
Thanks so much. That gives me an idea what to expect. I'll be checking into it around the first of the year, when I get a new computer. When I can no longer make Internet Explorer 7 get on the net, and when Google says goodbye to XP for good and all, I will be driven to get new stuff. Hope it's all good. Re: [JAWS-Users] Leasey with JAWS
All of that information is available at either: www.hartgen.org or www.leaseycentral.com (the latter site is where you download Leasey from. I think it's about $75 at the moment (as it's on sale) for the advanced version. A bit more than that for the full or basic version. It works with versions of JAWS from 14 up. -Original Message- From: Carolyn Arnold Sent: Friday, July 17, 2015 1:54 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Leasey with JAWS Do you know how much LEASEY costs? I am surprised it doesn't include creating webpages and blogs easier to do for those like myself who have trouble with this kind of thing. Maybe there are programs and tools that work well with jaws to perform these tasks already I am not aware of out there.
