[JAWS-Users] Outlook Web based

2007-09-06 Thread Keith Yates

Hi all,

My school is using Outlook Webbased for our student e-mail accounts. I am
using JAWS 6.2 and am having no luck accessing my e-mail. Our disability
services office says it is accessible with JAWS 8, but I am not to sure I
believe them as they do not appear to know much about screen readers.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone out there is using this and if so if it is
accessible with JAWS 8?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks that makes using it easier?

Thanks,
Keith

Laura,

Thanks for the suggestion. I had actually thought of that and it sounds
like the best solution.
I don't want to have to upgrade my JAWS right now. maybe when I have a
little more $$$.

Outlook Web Based is not Microsoft Outlook. It is a whole different kind of
beast from what I can tell. I just never thought something "web based"
would be so difficult to use with JAWS. I have no problem using Yahoo mail,
hotmail or Gmail and thought it would be similar but that is not what I am
experiencing.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Web based

2007-09-06 Thread Laura Bratton
Keith,
My school also uses Outlook Web based for our email. I set mine up so that I
am receiving it through Window mail. I am using vista and the latest
version of jaws. Even though outlook web based mail is more accessible
with the latest jaws, I still find it much easier to use windows mail. So if
you have Xp you could use Outlook express to access your email.

I have had some success using web based outlook when traveling. Generally I
have to
Change a couple of combo boxes below the login button. Check out all the form
fields and see if one is "simple" and use that.
Once you are in you should be able to create a rule to forward e-mails.

Hi,
When I open the Microsoft Outlook web access for my university, an
"authentication required" dialogue box appears where I type my username and
password, so don't think I can do it from my end. Thanks for the help
though, greatly appreciated.

2007-09-07 Thread Chris Hallsworth
At my university, we use Outlook Web Access for our student account, and I
have to say it works with JAWS 8, but is very hard to navigate. It was hard
enough for me to just give up using it and expect the university to e-mail
me through my "home" account. I might try this year to ask if forwarding can
be enabled, so that each message that goes into my student account will be
automatically forwarded to my home account. What do you all think? My home
account will be with Gmail, and I will use Outlook Express to access it.
Thanks in advance.
