[JAWS-Users] PAC MAN NOISE SOUND HEARD WHEN STARTING GOOGLE

2010-05-21 Thread Josh
All JAWS users,
First of all I want to ask if anyone else has ever experienced a noise such as
a pac man game playing when starting Google? I then scrolled down and seen a
link that said insert coin. I did not click on the link one because with that
annoying noise playing it was difficult to understand JAWS so I was more
concerned with trying to find out how to stop it. I checked my Norton and it
said I was protected. Can anyone enlighten me on what this is and whether there
is a way to stop it? Also after the noise is done I guess I gotten eaten
because after that all I heard was a siren like sound. Any knowledge on this
matter would be appreciated greatly. I was using Internet Explorer 8 and JAWS
10 with a dell laptop 1545 OS is XP professional this information may not be
needed but I like to provide more information than necessary just in case.
Thank you all for your assistance.

Relax, it's pacman's 30th anniversary. Annoying, but harmless.

Thank you I didn't really know what was going on with it. That is why I
checked Norton right off the bat. I wish there was a way to lower the
background noise so it does not cover up JAWS though.

Wow, the same thing started happening to me a few hours ago. for no
apparent reason, I started hearing weird sounds after I launched Google. It
sounds like a siren or some kind of video game, but I'm sure it's the same
sound effects you are experiencing. I thought this might be a virus, but
running a scan with MSE did not resolve the problem. Closing IE 8 and hence
Google shuts off the sound effects. I have no idea what is causing this.

2010-05-21 Thread Gerald Levy

Okay, I just switched to IGoogle, and the sound effects stopped, so
apparently, there has been some kind of change to the classic Google home
page that automatically invokes these sound effects with no way to turn them
off. For now, switch to IGoogle for your home page to suppress these
annoying sounds.

2010-05-21 Thread Gary
If you want to disable PacMan, turn off "Load Images Automatically." In
Firefox:

Go to Tools / Options / Content / uncheck "Load Images Automatically." Then
restart FireFox.

IE has a similar option.

Hi, everyone,
If it's any consolation, I think this was a 1-day thing commemorating the
30th anniversary of Pac Man. In other words, tomorrow it should be back to
normal.

I just went there and to the google forums. They are getting hammered with
complaints. Some users are in the work place and need the search
capability.

Many switched to bing, I never heard of bing wonder if it is jaws
friendly?

I normally use the accessible version of google.

Wow, the same thing started happening to me a few hours ago. for no
apparent reason, I started hearing weird sounds after I launched Google.
It

sounds like a siren or some kind of video game, but I'm sure it's the
same

sound effects you are experiencing. I thought this might be a virus, but
running a scan with MSE did not resolve the problem. Closing IE 8 and
hence

Google shuts off the sound effects. I have no idea what is causing this.

Why don't you just change your home page. Or use another search engine?
Google has never been my home page, and I never use it so I don't have

checked Norton right off the bat. I wish there was a way to lower the
background noise so it does not cover up JAWS though.
