[JAWS-Users] Reading listview content in Windows Explorer in Vista

2013-05-11 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi folks,

Could me explain somebody the following behavior of JAWS 11:
When I surfing in Windows Explorer, then JAWS reads all columns are
displayed. (for example: name, type, date, etc.). But when I open an
compressed folder in Windows Explorer, then only the first column are
read. The name column. When I press Ins+Up Arrow then the program reads
the whole line, so all columns. Why?

How could I apply this behaviour to the normal folder view?
When I turn off the reading of some columns then JAWS will not read
these coluns by pressing INs+Up Arrow, too. What should I do?

Thanks in advance,

Csaba

Thanks Steve, but the view in both situation is detailed view! When I
open a ZIP file content in Windows Explorer, then I see that the
listview displays all columns, so it is in detailed view, but JAWS reads
only the first column. The displayed columns are the same displayed in
normal situation. So I don't understand this behaiour of JAWS. By the
way it is very practical, because I work many times with Windows
Explorer and it is annoying if JAWS reads all columns. But if I turn off
reanding some columns then JAWS will not reads these coluns calling
SayLine function, too! And itt is anoying, too, because sometimes I need
to know the modification date or creation date of a file.

There's a JAWS keystroke, ctrl+JAWSKey+# [where # = any number from 1 to
9; and 0 = 10] for the column(s) you wish to read.
