[JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013
Hello list members: I use JAWS 16. How can I rename a sheet in Excel 2013? When I go to Format and Rename on the Home tab of the ribbon, JAWS says Edit. At this point, I should be able to left and right arrow through the current name of the sheet, but JAWS doesn't say anything. Is there a shortcut key or other method I can use to rename the sheet? You can try the tried-and-true Windows Explorer rename. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Derek Czuy Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 1:57 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013 Hello list members: I use JAWS 16. Shortcut keys: Alt-O-H-R You will hear edit, type the name and press enter. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Martin Blackwell Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 3:02 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013 I don't know if there is a shortcut key to rename a worksheet, but what is happening to you is the way it's always worked for me. When you choose Rename and JAWS says Edit you are supposed to type the name you want for the current sheet. As far as I know you can't left and right arrow. You just type the new name and press Enter. I've never found a way to rename a sheet without making it the current sheet first. I'd be interested if there is more to this that I don't know. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Derek Czuy Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 10:57 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013 Hello list members: I use JAWS 16. Re: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013
Hello Derek, In Excel 2013 to rename an individual worksheet in the workbook use Alt followed by h followed by o followed by r. Type in the new name and press enter key. For some reason JAWS doesn't speak the characters in this editing area. If you just press enter and don't use any navigational keystrokes then the new name should be correct. If you use any navigational keystroke after using alt followed by H followed by o followed by r then you remove the selection and the new and old name will be mixed in some manner. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013
Ken I have word 7 and jarte Many times, I use jarte instead of word 7 It is sleeker and easier to use for those not saying you for instance that do not want to be bothered with the ribbon concept If it is just a matter of the simple cut/copy/paste I would certainly suggest you take a hard look at jarte Do you already have it on your computer? If not, just go to www.jarte.com and let me know how you make out If this solution works out for you, would you please share this option to the tech division this Monday night? woo hoo -Original Message- From: Derek Czuy Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2015 1:57 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Renaming a sheet in Excel 2013 Hello list members: I use JAWS 16.
