Re: [JAWS-Users] Spybot Found Problem

2007-08-20 Thread Ricque
Hi Margaret,
I get the same thing with Spy-bot, and since that is the only thing that shows
up, then I simply
close the program.
I know that it is not a problem, so I ignore it.
Easier to do that, than to cause a problem with windows.

you can fix it, but that just goes to show that the program is still
picking out windows components as problems. When they are part of
your operating system and not a problem. if it picks the wrong thing
your xp might not boot up. Then you will have a problem.
its better to use programs that know what is windows and what is a
real problem.

2007-08-19 Thread Flor Lynch
Regarding IE6 search, with IE open have you tried ctrl+e to disable it?
(that's a toggle.) Maybe you have, but in case you or others didn't know
about that.

Jeffrey,

I clicked on fix the selected problem and got

Confirmation
You are about to remove these entries. Do you want to continue?

yes no

It might be a fluke, but at one point the screen seems to say
something about restoring points. I don't know if it means changing
the XP restore ones
and I don't want to change them since the Search Companion problem
with IE 6 from last week hasn't been fixed and my tech's office said I
need to wait for him to come and I haven't gotten a call from him to
set up an appointment.

Thanks,

Margaret

Hi All

I'd been running Spybot 1.4 using the auto run method and I think
it originally took something like an hour and a half to do its thing.
Recently, it seems to have taken less than 10 minutes and I decided to
install the JAWS scripts and try running it that way and it found 1
problem

Problem Kind
Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify 1 entries
Update

1 problems found (23:42)

The XP Home firewall shouldn't be running anyway since the
firewall is in my router. Should I fix the problem or leave it alone?

By the way, has anyone heard if 1.5 is out of Beta yet?

Thanks,,

Hi,
Just tell it to fix the problem. Nothing about Windows XP System restore
points will be lost or effected in any way. In other words, just press enter
or the spacebar on the Yes button when that dialog comes up.
