Is there a similar application for spreadsheets?? Dave Maynard At Tuesday 3/6/2012, you wrote: Have you had a look at Jarte actually? Jarte can handle embedded images as well as tables, footnotes and such. It may not have all the power and features of Microsoft Word but probably can handle many if not most of the features the average word processor user needs and maybe even more. hth Doris At 02:21 AM 3/6/2012 -0500, you wrote: It will provide a way to share and be somewhat free from Word. My quick guess at such features would be footnotes, endnotes, multiple columns, pictures, and embedded spreadsheets, and possibly tables. As long as you do not need to have access to these features , they probably will not be modified as you modify the surrounding text. Obviously, you will not be able to add such content. *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ On 3/5/2012 5:10 PM, Dujari, Prateek wrote: Hello. Is this really true and does this give us freedom from MS Word and more importantly be able to share .doc files with others who have Office loaded on their computers while I don't? I have found, that in a pinch, you can still use WordPad to read dot doc files. There is a bunch of garbage at the top, but the rest of the text is found below that. -- Blue skies. Have you had a look at Jarte actually? Jarte can handle embedded images as well as tables, footnotes and such.
