[JAWS-Users] Vista PC and Problems with Jaws
hi list, I am having some trouble running Jaws 9 on our new PC. This is a new computer, with very up to date specs ( gaming PC) and therefore a very powerful graphics card. the card is a nvidia geforce 9800 gt, since the pc is used also for gaming by a sighted person. when we install jaws all goes well, it says that windows had to change some settings for eyample turn itself to run vista basic instead of the default aero surface and so forth. it says that this will change back every time the application (jaws) is not running. so far so good. when I restart windows though we get the regular aero surface and jaws pops up with an error message and won't open at all. so my guess is that jaws is not able to make the switch between its on settings and the regular ones, at start up. I could try and set everything to windows basic but that is not workable as the pc is used by a sighted person mainly for gaming and stuff. I don't know if that makes a difference but in case someone uses the same PC here are the main spcifications: intel duo quad processor 4 x 3.2 4 giga ram nvidia geforce 9800 gt windows vista home premium with service pack 1 any hints highly appreciated. regards chrissy p s we tried to run the installation a few times but do get the same error all the time. Sory to say this, but I've heard that using the gaming computer with jaws is always a problem. Maybe you should buy one more, or use your old one. Re: [JAWS-Users] Vista PC and Problems with Jaws
I'm so sorry for you. I know what's like to have a new and fast pc. But those visual games can not coexist so peacefully with jaws. It's one or the other unfortunately, or I don't know the way to do this. I still have my old laptop with xp prof on it and have jaws 9 running there, no problems. but this one is only for my own use. to buy an additional desktop pc is not workable moneywise unfortunately.it would have been just nice to also be able to use the new one since all runs so fast and smooth on that new machine. regards chrissy Negoslav Sabev wrote: Sory to say this, but I've heard that using the gaming computer with jaws is always a problem.
