[JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Using Win. 7, IE11 and JAWS 16. This happens when at a website and I need to copy and paste information. When I paste it into a Word docx, there is a table format instead of just being a list like in the past. When I select anything in that table to delete it, it will not just delete one line or something, but the entire table is deleted and all information in that table. I want to stop everything from appearing like tables since I cannot work with this type of information in this format. In the past, my programs were never configured to let this happen, but after a hard-drive replacement, many settings are wrong. Where can I go and how can I change this setting? Thank you. Hi Liuda, While in Internet Explorer, do the following: 1. press the Jaws key + V, to open the Jaws quick-settings dialogue. When this opens, you will be in an edit field. 2. Tab once, and then press the letter V. This will take you to the virtual cursor options. 3. down arrow once, and then press the spacebar until you hear Jaws say, select and copy from the virtual cursor. 4. Tab to the okay button, and spacebar it. You are done. Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Here is a case by case fix, hopefully someone else on the list knows how to make changes in your settings to resolve the problem. Use Control+z to remove the unwanted table. You might have to use the command multiple times before it is all gone. Yes, it is odd how one paste command has to be resolved with multiple Undo commands. Open up the Home tab on your Ribbon. Open the Paste menu. Arrow to Paste Special and press enter. Arrow to unformatted Unicode text and press enter. Rick. I like to save straight forward steps , such as these, to solve problems which I might encounter in the future. I don't quite understand what these steps accomplish. Does it allow one to copy data which appears on a web site as a table and allows one to paste it into the email just as data, Which is not in table form? I read the problem that she has written about. She copies from a website and then can't edit it for her email without deleting the table. How does copying data with the virtual curser solve this problem? I want to thank you for all of the help you give me, and all of the people on this list. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Rick Justice Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2014 5:40 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables Hi Liuda, While in Internet Explorer, do the following: 1. press the Jaws key + V, to open the Jaws quick-settings dialogue. Re: [JAWS-Users] Website Unwanted Tables
Hi LeDon, Here is the explanation of this particular setting: This option controls whether or not JAWS will use the Text Selection and Copy Commands from the Web browser, e-mail software, or other owner of a virtual document. With the From Virtual Cursor setting, text is copied as plain text without formatting, pictures, and HTML attributes. With the Full Content Using Onscreen Highlight setting, the text and elements you select are highlighted onscreen as you press selection keys from the keyboard just as it would be in programs like Word Processors. The content is then copied with all formatting. The default setting is Full Content Using Onscreen Highlight. When you are in the settings center, or quick settings dialogue, and you tab once, you will hear an explanation of the setting in focus, and as I did, you can select the text and copy it to the clipboard.
