I'd prefer a Cisco router.
So if someone know if a Cisco router is accessible I'd like to hear from
you.
But I'm also interested to know about Linksys and other units.

Thanks!

The Linksys reouter is accessible. If you ever have to update the firmware,
that part of their website has not been accessible for a couple years. It
has some kind of spinning combobox that won't work with Jaws, Win-Eyes,
System Access, etc.

the website says it apparently uses a standard HTML interface, so it

Re: [JAWS-Users] Which routers are accessible with JAWS?

2010-06-16 Thread Mobeen Iqbal

Hello.

All modern routers from companies such as belkin, Safecom, linksys,
netgear, DLink, and TPLink have a web based interface and they are all
accessible using jaws as they use standard HTML and links. when you
pourchase a router, you generally receive a CD with a quick start guide
and software on it, but the software is hardly ever needed as if you
type in your router's IP address in your web browser, it will allow you
instant access to the web interface and all the router's settings. all
of the above manufacturer's interfaces work fine with jaws. Linksys is a
devision of sisco. if you want a sisco router, these are generally used
in enterprize environments and while they're accessible, they are
configured in some instances using a web interface and in others using a
serial port or telnet or other program to access the router's internal
interface. i'm not sure how accessible these programs are with jaws, not
having configured a sisco router. telnet shouldn't be a problem but the
other software made by sisco to control the router could be, though i've
heard of VI people doing the sisco networking corse and completing it
successfully. If you want an easy to use option, go for either linksys,
netgear or TPLink. these routers are my personal favourites, and netgear
especially have easy to understand options with help displayed at the
bottom of the page in realtime as well as headings and tables and frames
to aid navigation. I hope this answers your question. Let us know if
this works for you.

All the best,

Mo.
