Hi Steve Shannon,

If you don't find the key code on a sticker on the computer somewhere you
can get it with this program:

Take care.

On a desktop computer it should be located on the back or one side or the
other. On a laptop, it will be on the bottom on a sticker. Starting with
Windows 8, the key is embedded in the bios of the computer and registration
takes place automatically.Mike

[JAWS-Users] windows key R

2009-10-01 Thread Kimsan
Is it true a person can open up any document using windows key R?

If so how do I do this?

I have a phone numbers.txt file and I am unable to open it using windows
key R.

Hi Kimson,
It's true but you'd need to type in the path.
For example, if you had a document called XpJawsTweaks.txt in a tips
folder in My Documents you would type:
C:\Documents and Settings\user folder\My Documents\Tips\XpJawsTweaks.txt
substituting your logon name in the above example instead of user folder.
The easier way would be to open the folder in question, press control plus E
and then type in a partial document name. In the above example typing in
tweaks and pressing enter would bring up a list which would contain the
document in the example as well as any others with tweaks in the filename.
Pressing F6 after the search completes will take you to the list of results
where you can select the document you want and open it in the associated
word processor with Enter.
