You can turn off forms mode in the jaws setting center, or just make the
forms mode delayed to give you a chance to ei ther hit enter, the space bar,
or to just move off the edit field before it turns on forms mode.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] edit fields

Hi everyone

I am not sure how to explain what I need here so forgive me if I sound a bit
dinngy. smile

When I go to (for example) google on my internet browser and I am looking
for something, I would have to press the space bar to activate the edit
field and a little pop sound would be heard.

I didn't mind that.

Now everytime I reach a edit field little pops sound.

The same for my face book, the only time I would hear a little pop sound is
when I needed to type something in a edit field.

Now as soon as I reach a edit field popping sounds are blasting off

My question is, is there a way where I can get that popping sound to just
sound when I want to type in a edit field with out all the excess popping
sounds?

I know it sounds kind of everywhere but I don't know how to express what I
need or want and what is happening.

FYI

I use a Del Desk top, 64

Jaws 14

Office/outlook 2010

And I use internet browser.

Thanks if any help can be suggested

Ok I forgot to say that I know it's in the jaws settings but how do I get
there and what do I check and or uncheck?

Hi, what is happening, is your JAWS forms mode is set to autto
you need to turn that off in settings forms mode.
Press JAWS key 6 and arrow down to forms mode and you will see the options
there for autto or manual.manual is what I think you are looking for.

I have also noticed this edit box issue. It is not limited to google
though. Every now and then, sometimes it happens, sometimes it
doesn't, I start typing into an edit box, and the characters just
don't appear. I am typing from the qwerty keyboard. Often, exiting
IE and starting again works. Occasionally, I just hit enter on the
submit button, then try again, and that often does work. I haven't
been able to consistently reproduce this behavior. It happens on a
Windows XP box running JFW 12 and IE 8 and on a Windows 7 box running
JFW 13 and IE9.

[JAWS-Users] edit fields sometimes not working in internet explorer 8

2012-03-02 Thread André van Deventer
Hi all

Using Jaws 13 with internet explorer 8 on a windows xp.

Lately something very strange is happening. For some reason or other when
going into sites like youtube and google and trying to type something into
the edit field, the text does not register. And yes I did make sure that
forms mode is activated.

Has anyone found this before? And why is this happening?

Very strange!

Andre

André,

How are you typing the text? From the QWWERTY keyboard, or from your
braille display keyboared. there is another Google thingy that could be
causing it, though not sure at the moment how to put that 'to bed'.
