Hello stewart try to hit the f6 key then type in your address and see if
that reads it back to you. That's what I use the f6. When you press the f6
key it should say http then you can type your address in there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] google is playing up i think

2008-08-02 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi Marilyn:

That's just the nature of the beast I think. If you had a mouse and wanted to
perform a search without typing something in, it would be very easy to just
click on something on the list and resume a search you had started or to go
bacvk to a page in a previous search. You are in an edit field and if you were
to click on one of those, it would automatically fill in the edit field for you.
I don't think there is a way of getting rid of that feature.

Re: [JAWS-Users] google is playing up i think

2008-08-02 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Ah! As Sky uses the Gmail servers, you need to tell your programme to use
recent mode. Here's how to do it:
1. In Outlook Express, press alt t to open the tools menu, then press a to
open the account properties dialogue box.
2. Select your Sky account in the list, and press alt p to open the
properties dialogue box.
3. Control tab one time to the servers page, tab to the account name edit
field, press the home key to route your cursor to the start of your account
name, and type the word recent followed by a colon, so it looks like this:
recent:stuartross
4. Tab to ok and press enter.
5. Tab to close and press enter.
6. Do a send/receive with control m.
Hope this helps.

What it means is that, as we are learning, Google is stashing our searches.
I realize that it is happening and that many hate it. Thanks. marilyn

Carline, I do the same. My problem is not with google's auto fillin when I
do control O because I can disable that. i, however, hate going to the
search engine and getting a list of my prior searches. It's as if google
thinks we're so stupid that we will click on one of the listed items even
when we are totally disinterested in the site. marilyn

I know what you mean. I just ignore it though because as you say, we hardly
ever want to return to a previous search. Even if we get rid of them for our
convenience I believe they are still on record somewhere within Google.

Hi Marilyn,
If you are useing Internet Explorer 6, try this:
While in Internet Explorer,
Go to the tools menu, and then to manage add-ons, then see if you have one
called, search assistant.
If so, disable it.
HTH,

While listers help with stewart's google question, here's another google
question. Although I do not have the google tool bar , lately I have been
annoyed by google's saving of my surfing locations. What happens is that I
use google for home page and when I type into the edit field, a string of my
past searches shows up. I arrow up or down and there they are. How can I
get rid of these? marilyn

I'm using jaws 9 but don't recall search assistant. Anyway, I think I have
