Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer showing blank pages whenusingjaws
Hi Joann; I am sorry. I didn't notice that you said that you are using Jaws 10 11 at the top of your message. I guess I should wake the hell up before listening to Jaws! LOL Anyway, in IE8, I have in the view menu / tool bars, only these tool bars checked; menu bar, status bar, lock the tool bars. I don't use tab browsing, so that is disabled. I don't browse the Internet much at all and so I have very few issues with IE8. Again, my apologies for responding with only half of 1 ear in focus. Take care. Mike, It's tax time! It is definitely more limited than 10 or 11 in many areas. But my concern was that, even when using a newer Jaws, the pages show no links or text when going past the home split button. I'll stay away from 8 since it doesn't read menus, but would like to know how to make 10 and 11 read the links on the page instead of seeing it blank. I'm trying to see if it's a Jaws issue and if either a tool bar needs to be checked or if something in HTML options isn't set correctly. I know others have had trouble getting pages to come up and would be interested in how they resolved the issue. Thanks. - Original Message - From: Mike Barbara mb69ma...@charter.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, March 29, 2010 9:06 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer showing blank pages when usingjaws Hi Joann; You mention that you are running Jaws 8. If you are going to use Jaws8, I would suggest rolling back to IE6 / 7, if possible. Hope this helps. Take care. Mike, It's tax time! What I wish I could do is get rid of the stuff on the left side of the page--that Web address and home split button you see. Because that actually seems to be where the problem lies--plus it is annoying because you can't just go to links like you could in I.E. 6. What seems to happen is, it tells you you're on the right page, but going past that home split thing it shows nothing. I sometimes see links if I turn off and on the virtual cursor, or if I hit F5 to refresh. But often I can't get the links and text bodies of the pages to show up. I know it went to the right page but something is either blocking it or something is maybe set wrong in config. Now the odd thing is, usually when using my special version of Jaws 8 this doesn't happen; however I can't use Jaws 8 to find a favorite because hitting alt and the letter a it doesn't read the list of favorites. So if anyone can help resolve these issues would appreciate it. Also does F.S. recommend anything regarding tool bars? Should they be locked, and which ones would one use when browsing with Jaws? I just wondered if that had any difference in my not getting links to come up. Thanks. I have only had this problem on the Yahoo website. I thought it was something that Yahoo had done. If there is an answer, I would be interested as well. I do appreciate your help with tool bars. I wasn't sure if certain tool bars could make Jaws not work as well, so am going to try this. - Original Message - From: Mike Barbara mb69ma...@charter.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, March 29, 2010 9:56 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer showing blank pages whenusingjaws Hi Joann; I am sorry. Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer showing blank pages whenusingjaws
Hi there. I need to add to the list of folks having this issue with windows XP, JAWS 10X and IE 8. I've tried refreshing the screen and using the insert+escape command to refresh the virtual buffer, but neither of these does the trick. The only thing that seems to work consistently for me is to toggle the virtual cursor off and then on again with insert+Z. I have know clue why this is, because it will happen on some sites and not others and not regularly enough for me to reproduce whenever I have access to a willing pair of eyeballs. grin Lisa Constipated accountants work it out with a pencil.
