I do have Comcast and had my own wireless router so that's what I am using 
now.  Comcast just provided me with the cable modem.

Hi:

Unplug the router and run the router's software.  When it ask you to plug 
the router up, do so and follow the instructions from there.

I use comcast and bought my own router and installed it.  No problem as I
have had the router for 8 years.

when it's hooked up, modem to router to pc, I can't get the internet to 
connect, so the is obviously a reason, so I asked.
