Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws not starting when booting win10?

2016-03-05 Thread valiant8086

Hi.

Another idea, disable automatically start jaws for both this user and
for all users. Hit ok on that dialogue box, restart jaws if not the
whole computer. Go back in and enable those auto start features again. I
don't really expect that to make any difference, but it wouldn't be the
first time I fixed an issue where something wasn't behaving as it was
set to, set it to behave differently than it is set now and it may start
being consistent to how it is set after that.

If that doesn't help, I'm not sure where to go from there, do you have
multiple coppies of JAWS installed? If so, they may be having trouble
figuring out which one will start if both coppies are set to start. You
could try running NVDA or Narrator uninstall JAWS and all shared
components, removing JAWS user settings along the way, then reinstall
it. Note that as long as you don't manually go and delete anything in
the program files/freedomscientific folder on your computer you should
keep your ILM authorization even though you uninstalled this way. Also,
it could possibly be that your windows 10 setting for starting a screen
reader when you log on is messed up. Do you get another screen reader
starting automatically when JAWS isn't? Narrator perhaps?

Go to your start screen and type blind. Down arrow to optimize for
blindness.

There are quite a few checkboxes in here. You might want to make sure
Start narrator is not checked... For mine I have Narrator unchecked,
audio description checked, JAWS 16 and NVDA both not checked, but JAWS
17 is checked. I don't really know exactly what these do but you can
give that a try too. Might try that before you go crazy and reinstall
JAWS though.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws not starting when booting win10?

Hi all,
using jaws17 latest build with a win10 desktop.
I reinstalled windows over the top of itself after speaking to microsoft
accessibility helpdesk.
I needed to reinstall jaws after this.
Jaws won't start when the machine boots.
start for this user always is checked and start at the login screen is
checked.
I removed my antivirus before installing jaws.
I also ran Jaws as admin.
Before the reinstall of windows jaws would start at startup.
Any ideas what else I can try?
