Hi everyone, David sent us some great ideas when considering a netbook. I am very happy with the way Jaws works with mine but wanted to share some ideas in regards to Openbook 9 with the new pearl camera.
I have installed Openbook 9 on two laptops. One is a duel core larger laptop and the other is a netbook. With my larger laptop, Openbook 9 is very fast during the scanning process with the Pearl. However, on my netbookk, this process is slower. When working in the acquire and read mode, my netbook is slower and a little sluggish at the point when the Pearl is performing another scan. Here, speech somewhat hesitates for a few seconds. With the overall speed with Openbook 9, I do not find this that disappointing.
