[JAWS-Users] new computer user
Hi Karen, I can remember how totally intimidated i was by jaws and the computer when i first got mine. I was 52 and had no idea what i was doing. If you go into the jaws window and hit alt+h, arrow down and you'll find "training" and "keystrokes with jaws". that's a good starting place. I think the thing that made me feel most comfortable, since i was afraid i'd break the monster, was knowing that i can go into help, or the control panel, or any program, play around all i want and, as long as i hit escape rather than "accept", "yes", or enter, i wouldn't change anything permanently. She does need one on one help I think. But rather she can get it or afford to pay is the question. Otherwise, she needs to just focus on one thing at a time. I have read post on this list of things these guys do and lordy it just seems like something I wouldn't ever do. So I think the key for Karen is to only follow steps for whatever problem she is needing help for and disregard all the other things or she will get into more areas that will be confusing to her. And, with Windows, there are usually several opportunities to undo anything that you do. Exactly! That's how you learn.
