Re: [JAWS-Users] paragraph markers
I've noticed that for some reason JAWS14 at work and JAWS16 at home are reading new line and paragraph marks in word. I have found that this is turned on in the JAWS Verbosity Settings for some reason. Do the following to see if it is turned on in your situation and what to do to turn it off: Insert+v to open the JAWS verbosity settings dialog box. You can either use your down arrow to move through all of the options, or if your version of JAWS offers an edit box, type in new. This will allow you to navigate to the New Line and Paragraph reading setting. I think this is under editing. Once you find it, if it is not set to off, then press the spacebar to move through the various settings. You want it set to off if you never want to hear these items announced. Press Enter when you are done to save and close the dialog box. Patti, Strange. I have the same set up you have and as I arrow word by word through the document with paragraph marks enabled, every time I encounter the paragraph marker, it says so. Then if I do a control shift number 8 on the numbers row, again, the paragraph marker toggle and I no longer hear the paragraph marker being spoken. Again, be sure you are using the number 8 key on the numbers row and not the keypad. sorry could not help any more.
