Hi.

In the search box, when you type something in, try pressing the down arrow.
JAWS will then speak the name of a file or folder, if the computer finds
anything.

>From what you just described, your files are all still there, and not
missing. You could use the left and right arrow to see your files. They are
now longer being displayed in a vertical list, and it sounds like that's the
kind of layout you want.
You probably have a different view option set for your documents folder. In
file explorer, hit alt-v, for the view tab of the ribbon. Hit the tab key
until you hear "layout tool-bar". Hit enter on this and you will see a list
of view options. "details" should work. Now on the right side you will see
some columns with file properties, rather than more files, so your up and
down arrows will move vertically through the list.

Hope this makes sense.

When I pressed the windows key and then type in the name of a folder this
doesn't do anything and I can't get Jaws to read what I typed in the search
box. Also, when I'm in my documents I can press the first letter of a
folder or file that is missing and find it that way. All my folders and
files were listed in alphabetical order where I could just arrow down
through all of them; folders at the top in alphabetical order and then files
after that. Somehow that has gotten messed up. How can I get my folders

Hi Laura.

Try using Windows 10 search to look for the files. Hit the windows key. The
search box should come up. You can type in a part of a filename here. Your
results will appear in a list and you should also see the path where the
files are stored.

Hello,

Using Windows 10, Jaws 18 & MS Word 2016 ..

I plugged in my headphone to my laptop. Jaws asked what type of headphone
and gave me a list of six to choose from; headphones, headphones with
microphone, headset, etc. I pressed enter on headphones and the headphones
worked. I opened a file, typed a few notes, and closed that file. I then
got on the internet and did a few Google searches. When I got off the
internet and went back to my documents I noticed Some of my folders and
files are missing. I checked the recycle bin and they are not there. I
also shut down the computer and turned it back on and they are still not
there.

I'm not very tech savvy and have no idea why this would happen .. Would
somebody please help?

Thank you,

Laura

Once you re-start JAWS have you tried an insert plus Control plus Escape? This
should re-initialize the scripts.

Hi guys, so in solving one problem another one arose. I would like to pick
your brains with this one.
Jaws is running.
I press insert spacebar s and jaws announces speech off.
I press control alt n and NVDA starts.
I turn off speech on NVDA using insert s, NVDA announces speech mode off.
I press the pass through command for NVDA wich is insert f2.
Then I press insert spacebar s and jaws announces speech on.
Fantastic I figured this one out but things can never be easy a new problem
arises.
I can't at this point use my up and down arrow keys to read in a word
document or email jaws absolutely says nothing. If I try arrowing up and
down on the desk top jaws reads everything on my desktop as usual.
Any ideas how to solve this one?

When you are arrowing on the desktop, events are sent to the screen readers to
speak the new item. In documents the reading is linked to the arrow keys shift
arrowing may read things. Why not load greek voices into jaws?

Yes, only use the Jaws program or use the N V D A program by themselves, and
not together.

Re: [JAWS-Users] problem solved but new problem arises JAWS & NVDA simultaneously

2016-03-07 Thread Adrian Spratt
First, thank you for posting the steps you took to find a tentative solution.
Very helpful. I'm not sure I can be equally helpful. By turning off NVDA's
speech, you haven't unloaded it, and so it's still running in the background.
It makes sense in light of what you want to accomplish, which is to move
swiftly between speech programs. However, it appears they conflict even when
NVDA speech is off. Still, I wonder if closing and reopening Word might be a
workaround. Maybe JAWS would somehow reset itself. Even less likely, I wonder
if maximizing the window with alt-space, then x, might help.

[JAWS-Users] problem solved with video intercept error.

Hi. I fixed the video intercept error with jaws. I did it by sheer dumb
luck but here's what I did in case it helps anyone. I have a cd that
came with the pc it is for the motherboard. I put it in and it asked me
to install missing drivers. I followed the prompts but jaws still didn't
work. Just to see what would happen, I un installed jaws and re
installed it again. Guess what? Jaws came up talking and no video
intercept errors. Thank goodness for alternative free screen readers in
this case.

thanks list for all your help
