[JAWS-Users] starting jaws at the log on screen?

2012-12-10 Thread adam morris

Hi all,

running win7 and j14.

I've just got a new laptop and decided to password the machine.

should I have jaws start at the login screen as well as for the current
user, or should it be just for the login screen?

I am the only user of the machine, there is only my account as
administrator.

the machine is running very slow, taking half a minute for jaws to speak
after executing commands, not sure if having jaws start at both login
screen and for user is the cause.

I have it start at the log on screen myself. It's a personal choice but I
figure the sooner I get speech the better.

I have similar configuration as yours and just use jaws to start at log in
screen and have had no problems.

2012-12-10 Thread Bubba
This is a preface and you can do it or not! Some don't do login at the login
screen they just choose to start JFW after login! This does make a quicker
login. But you have to be able to know when windows come up and you need
site or listen to your computer very closely. Or just give a count and if
nothing is wrong then if you have it setup for ctrl Alt delete then you can
do this and put in your password. Or a another choice is just not to have a
login password. Then you know when windows come up. HTH

2012-12-10 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

Which flavor of JAWS 14 are you running on your laptop, 918 or 1036. You
can find the build level of JAWS your running by going to the About dialog
from the JAWS help menu or just the JAWS menu if you're running from the
system tray. When JAWS is started at logon, I have always seen delays like
you describe on the logon screen before JAWS will even start speaking, but
it runs fine after you are logged on. However, when I installed the latest
JAWS 14 update, 1036, I got delays like that after being logged on and had
to back off to 918. FS is working on the latest update, which currently is
not available.
