[JAWS-Users] trying o open a word document in protective view.

2015-04-20 Thread Jim Rawls
I just received a word document from a friend and when I try to open it, it
says protective view button, and I can't open it. How can I fix this? I am
running jaws 16 on a W8.1 computer. Jim

Jim,

When focused on the document file, right click the file, and arrow up once
and select properties. There on the Home tab, tab down to you find the
"Unblock" button, and press enter on this. Now return to the file and it
will open normally.

Good morning, Jim.
Here are the steps you can use.

1. Press the Alt key and locate the File tab.
2. Down arrow to the Info option.
3. Press the right arrow to open that selection.
4. Right arrow until you hear the message pertaining to what Protected View
is for. You should be on a button which allows editing of the document.
Press that button by using the spacebar and the document should convert from
Protected View to normal display. Different versions of Office call this
different names but the functions are essentially the same.
There may be a hotkey for that purpose but I don't remember what it is.

2015-04-21 Thread Mario
Jim and anyone else interested, when you come across a protected docx,
the quick way is initiating the alt+f then i and e keystroke.

the other way is to use the JAWS cursor to find and click the "edit"
(not sure if it's a link or button) towards the top, about 3, 4 or 5
lines down and to the right.
