Re: [JAWS-Users] trying to read PDF files from a Yahoo groups file section

Thanks, Flor! I knew about Open Bok and Kurzweil, of course, but not the
others. I'm not so much looking for ways to scan material from print and
read it as I am to be able to convert graphic PDF files to text PDF files
that I can read, if that is even possible. But I'll look into some of those
off the shelf packages, (smile).

LOL, Flor ...turns out you were right the first time! They were basically
graphic PDF files, but I emailed the person who uploaded them, and he got me
copies I'll be able to read. Since I will need the information for an
upcoming meeting, I am obliged to him (smile).

OK ...an OCR package? Could you explain a bit about that and make a
suggestion as to one I could get for my PC that is likely to work with JAWS
14? Thanks!

[JAWS-Users] trying to read PDF files from a Yahoo groups file section

2015-02-14 Thread Shoshana Hathaway
I am attempting, unsuccessfully, to read some PDF files added to a Yahoo
Group. I know these are text files, not graphics, but when I open them in
Acrobat Reader (not sure which version I have, probably 11) I'm told it's an
empty document. Am I not doing something right? Alternatively, how can I
get it from my downloads folder into either notepad or MS word 2003? I'm
using Windows 7, JAWS 14 Magic 12, and IE9. Any help would be greatly
appreciated, thank you.

Shoshana
