Hi Alan,

Use Run dialogue to open the following path:
C:\Windows\Installer\

Now look for that specific file. When you find it simply press Shift F10 and
run a scan using Malwarebytes. If it finds anything funky, associated with
that file, simply choose to quarantine. By quarantining rather than
deleting, you can put that file back where it came from in the event you
find Windows needs it. I ran a quick Google search and could not find any
reference to that file, so I'm sorry I can't be more detailed than to tell
you to quarantine for now. I have lots of faith in Malwarebytes and if it
were my computer I would follow Malwarebytes advice and quarantine.

Joseph,

Thanks. This is on my wife's computer so could not follow the path as I
believe she has not enabled show hidden folders/files. This is the path a
looks like an optional tool bar to me?

C:\Windows\Installer\60f40de.msi (PUP.Optional.AskToolbar) -> No action
taken.

Comments? Should it be removed or is it harmless to leave

Within the malwarebytes report, follow the path to that file and manually
delete it. Before deleting it, Press Shift F10 and scan again using the
Malwarebytes item.

Excellent directions. Do you have to select or unselect actions you want
taken? I had one file which when I clicked remove it said all malicious
items removed or something like that. However when reviewing the report it
listed one file with a problem but stated no action taken. How do I get rid
of this one file?

Hello,
Well, to really activate Mywarebytes Pro you have to pay first..
Then run it and it should say, Mywarebytes Pro, press the tab key to
navigate.
Press tab to scan, press the space bar.
Press tab for Full scan or arrow to quick or flash scan.
Press the space bar.

Then, leave it alone, the first couple scans will run about a hour and in
time it will be less.

When the scan is done, press space bar to show results.
Tab twice to show results again.
Tab to remove all infected objected objects, press the space bar.

The Mywarebytes report will start to read, press the shift + tab to bring
you back to the OK button on removing all infected objects and press the
space bar.

Press the shift +tab to cycle you back to the Mywarebytes report tex.txt
document.

Use your down arrow to read the report.

You will be surprise on all the problems in your computer Mywarebytes picked
up.

When done viewing the report you can save the report to my documents or
press alt + F4 twice to close Mywarebytes.

That exit menu sucks and when closes it makes you feel like if you did
something wrong.

It's better to use alt + F4.

Enjoy, this is a great product.

Jorge

Joseph,
Most of the time Mywarebytes will tell me:

Mywarebytes just blocked a malicious website In comimming or Out going and it
says, 191.6543.211 for example.

Now, I am lost on what should be my next step, so I just continue on and trust
Mywarebytes.

But, one thing for some reason I can't get the address of the malicious website
to repeat so I can copy & paste the address to get some info on it.

Oh, one more thing:
This PC is my everyday junk computer and the large majority of the emails are
from three clubs I belong to;my guess is coming from there..

The one that bugs me more is the out going malicious website?

Is that coming from me?

Thank you Free Tech.

Ok, I thought we were talking about a single file to be deleted. .

I suggest letting Malwarebytes take care of the quarantine. I too have had
malware find possibly infected files in the registry and I've especially
made sure to quarantine these particular files.

If you'd like, you can send me your scan log and I'll take a look. It will
be located in the following location:
C:\Users\{Your computer name}\AppData\Roaming\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes'
Anti-Malware\Logs\

If you want to make things simple just run a quick scan, and when you get
results, simply choose to quarantine all infected files. The quarantine will
insure you don't accidentally delete important files.

Oh yeah, I suggested the Run dialogue thing so you can find your way to the
location of the file and manually scan a specific file using the
Malwarebytes entry in the context menu. Nope, you definitely don't want to
copy and paste the file in the Run dialogue, you want to copy the path
(excluding the actual file name).

If I'm not understanding your goal please let me know because we don't want
to end up spending tons of time doing something that only takes minutes.
Malwarebytes is meant to be quick and easy to use. .

Hi Joseph,
Within the mywarebytes report, follow the path to that file and manually
delete it.

Some of these files and folders are in the registery or the bios.

And I don't know how to search there and making a mistake could make your PC
run bad?

Do you copy the file and go the run... or the Windows find and paste in the
file and press enter.

I have a nice bunch of files I would like to delete myself.

Thanks Mister Free Tech.
