Re: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips
in windows 7, launch the control panel, type s or arrow to and enter on the sounds applet, control+tab to sounds tab, tab to the treeview where the first item should be "windows opened", type s 3 times or arrow down to system notification, press alt+b to browse for the location and sound you want. the rest is fairly common to follow. I think wav files are the only format that's accepted for a system sound. I don't know how to assign system sounds in windows 10. hoping someone who is using windows 10 will post on how to setup/change system sounds. I suggest 15 seconds which should give you enough time to left click the notification as soon as JAWS announces it, if it is set to show it's icon in the notification area (system tray). some notifications are only set to only briefly show notifications which do not allow interaction, for which JAWS will announce, unless JAWS is already reading something, like a document or article. this is why I have associated a sound when notification balloons arise. Re: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips
Yes, that is exactly what I thought and when I went looking for it last night to hope to help the original poster, I couldn't find it. FTR, I did windows key x, down arrowed until the use the computer without a display and went from there. However, windows 10 made me go to the CTRL panel lol. Thanks for refreshing my memory though, and I hope the original poster was helped. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Sachin Sent: Wednesday, June 8, 2016 1:12 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips Hello Kimsan, yes, there is one setting. go to dcontrol panel> Ease of Access Center> Use the computer without a display On 8/06/2016 11:17 AM, Kimsan wrote: > There is a setting I think to have that balloon message stay there for up to > 5 minutes I think? > > > -Original Message- > From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On > Behalf Of Adrian Spratt > Sent: Tuesday, June 7, 2016 9:32 PM > To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com > Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips > > Maybe bring up the most recent JAWS verbalizations: JAWS key+spacebar, > followed by h. > > -Original Message- > From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On > Behalf Of Hicks Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST) > Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2016 12:14 AM > To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com > Subject: [JAWS-Users] Tooltips > > Hi friends, > > Is there a shortcut key in JAWS to read the last tooltip or system tray > popup notification or balloon if you have missed it? > > > > > > This message may contain confidential information.
