The steps for sending an attachment, with JAWS 17, and Windows 10 are as
follows for me:
1. Type the message recipients name.
2. Add any CCs or BCCs in their appropriate fields.
3. Type in the Subject information, if any.
4. Press the ALt key to activate the menu bar, and right arrow to the Insert

5. Use the Down Arrow once to select attachment.
6. Select the location of the file you want to attach i.e., Documents,

7. Once the specific file has been found, press enter.
8. You will be returned to the Subject Edit field. Press Tab to go to the

not sure if windows mail works like windows live mail

but if you have the ribbon menu what you do is
go to what you want to attach to the email and copy it to the clipboard
go to mail press application key
arrow right to insert arrow down jaws should announce insert a file to
attach press spacebar
after pressing space jaws should announce select file to attach paste what
you have in clipboard then press enter

it's attached
like I said I use windows live mail and this is what I do not sure if it'll
work in windows mail, but it's worth a shot ain't it?

Hi, I am looking for steps to sending attachments in windows live mail. A
friend is wanting to learn, and as I am usingoutlook, wondering if it is the
same way? I used to sit on the attachment in a list of docquments, and when
I send them, I hit the context menu then arrow down, then over to the right,
then down to send to, and then arrow over to email then that program would
open and all I had to do was hit enter, is that the same way in both, or new
steps, thanks sue

What fun, Kate. Thankfully, Jaws 12 handles ribbons quite well. But I would
hate to try navigating that kind of layout with an older version of jaws.
It can be done but it takes a lot more patience and time than anyone
normally has to spare in a work environment.

Hi, Once the email is open and you are ready to insert the attachment, press
the alt key and right arrow to the insert ribbon and tab to attach file or
you can press alt n followed by the keytip A f in succession of course and
not at the same time. So, it would be alt n and then AF which is the keytip
for attach file.
Press space bar on attach file button and shift tab twice and you should
land in your documents folder. If the file that you are looking for is not
in the previously mentioned folder, back space until you find what you are
looking for. After finding the file to be attached, just press enter or tab
over to insert and presss alt s to send.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Sending attachments

2011-07-24 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Kate,

I think that you probably meant that you have Outlook 2010. If you are
using a different Email program then you will need different steps than
those given below.

1. When the cursor is in the message you are creating, use Alt
followed by N followed by A followed by F. The Alt followed by N takes
focus to the insert tab. The a followed by F stands for attach file.

2. The files of type should be set for all files, but you can use tab
key one time in the Insert File dialog box that comes up after using the
above mentioned key sequence if you want to make sure. If the selection in
the Files of Type list is not All Files then use up arrow key until All
Files is selected.

3. Use shift+tab twice from the File Name edit box or three times from
the Files of Type list to find the list view for the open folder.

4. Use first letter navigation or use up or down arrow keys in the
list view to find the file you want if it is in the open folder.

5. If the file you want to attach is not in the open list then use
shift+tab until you find the tree view.

6. You can use left arrow key in the tree view until Libraries is the
open level. If you hear that Libraries is closed then use right arrow key
to open that level. If you are attaching a file from the home group or
another network then you can leave Libraries closed and use down arrow key
until you find your choice. Otherwise, use right arrow key to open the
Libraries selection.

7.Work through the tree level by using down arrow key to a level
and opening the one you want with right arrow key. Use down arrow key in
open levels to subfolders and open the one you want with right arrow key.
For example, if you are wanting to attach a music file, you can use left
arrow in the tree view until you hear that Libraries is open. Use down
arrow key to the Music Library and press enter to set it. Pressing enter is
important if you want to pick My Music as the subfolder. If you open the
Music level with right arrow key and don't press enter key then the first
subfolders shown will be those that alphabetically appear before the My
Music selection. After pressing enter on the Music choice, you use right
arrow to the My Music choice and use right arrow to open it. You then press
enter key on that selection to set it as the final folder to open. Of
course, you can do the same method to find a document in the My Documents
Folder. You would start by opening Libraries, using down arrow to the
Documents library, Pressing enter to set it, using right arrow key to open
the level, and then down arrow key to the My Documents folder. Use right
arrow key to open it and then enter to set it.

8. Use tab key until you are back in the list view, which should show
files from the folder you just opened.

9. Use first letter navigation or up and down arrow keys to find the
file to attach and press enter key to attach it.

10. The Insert File dialog box also has a search box that you can use to
find a file with a certain word in the name. You can move to it by using
CTRL+E when the cursor is in the Attach File dialog box. Type in a search
term and then tab to the list of results. If the file is not in the list of
results, use down arrow key in the results list or press the end key to move
to the bottom of the list and then down arrow key to find the buttons. You
will find buttons for doing the same search in other libraries. For
example, if you search for a music file in the My Documents folder, there
might not be any results or at least very few. Tab to find the list of
results and then use down arrow key or press the end key followed by the
down arrow key to find buttons. Use right and left arrow keys to move
between the available buttons. find the button for Music then press enter
key and the search will be done in the Music library. You can then use up
or down arrow keys in the results list and find your file to attach. Press
enter key on the file to be attached to your message.

11. You can use Alt+S to send the message.

If you are not using Outlook 2010 and need different info then please post
again.

Take care.

Kate, unless I am interpreting your query incorrectly, you do the following

Insert+N, tab once and you should be located on the attach file button.

Click once, pressing the space bar, and you will be presented with the File

the attachment.

wasn't writing, or nothing was writing. Gosh that sounds confusing, but I
couldn't tell her why nothing was writing. Now if I haven't confused anyone,

Hello. Don't know what I did, besides doing what was suggested, but
yay I'm able to send attachments now. I had to fix something within
either internet options in control pannel or firewall. Don't really know
which.
However, it's all done now and thanks for helping.

If it isn't JAWS10, you will need to have screen track virtual cursor
checked for her to see where JAWS is leading, and then probably to enable
forms mode if that is normally required for JAWS with the chat room. . If
JAWS is nevertheless a distraction, jumping around on the screen and such,
then unload it.
