[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - JSR-168 compliance?

2004-02-26 Thread mkural
Hello,

I would like to ask at what stage the planning on JSR-168 portlet compliance (the
ability to deploy JSR-168 portlets) is in Nukes on JBoss. Has there been any actual
coding done in this direction yet?

Thank you very much,
Mete

Read this document:
http://cocoonhive.org/articles/jboss/20031125/JBoss32-hajms.html
Get JBoss 3.2 from CVS, build and try the examples.

Optionally, you can port this document to the JBoss wiki:
http://jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossMQ

Let me know when you do all this and you feel more comfortable with my original
suggestions.

2004-02-26 Thread uhurusurfa
I have not verified this but it appears as if the GET parameters override the POST
parameters... if this is the case, I assume that the code gets both the POST and GET
parameters of the inbound request and merges the two into a single query string.. GET
being done last so it overrides the POST params.

[JBoss-dev] [IIOP on JBoss] - Wrapper-Plugin to access EJBeans?

2004-02-26 Thread flitzie
Dear Developers,

i have read that there is an alternative solution for CORBA-clients, which doesn't
support OBV (valuetypes), to access an EJB via an wrapper-object. This wrapper-object
is a normal CORBA-object with a simple and clear interface, which can be accessed by
all CORBA-clients. It runs on the AppServer and redirects the client requests to the
public methods of an EJB via RMI or RMI-IIOP. My task is not to write an extra
standalone Java wrapper-server.

Does JBoss support such a solution?

Does anybody know an AppServer which support such a wrapper-Plugin except IONA Orbix?

Great thanks for any hint or advice.

Flitzie

don't know what you mean. can you give the concrete example? By the way, what do you
mean you are not able to use eclipse

I mean this is xdoclet, and there is no eclipse involved. Eclipse just uses xdoclet
to generate the code through JBossIDE. Sometimes it is good to try xdoclet outside of
Eclipse as it will do the same thing. Maybe your problem is with xdoclet and you
should ask on that list. Always isolate your problem to the tool that has it if
possible(sometimes it's not that easy), but in this case a quick test run with xdoclet
outside of eclipse should do the trick???

2004-02-26 Thread morenito9000
I think you're right, about the fact that is a problem
due to my bad knowledge of Xdoclet :-(

I'll try to get docu on Xdoclet (at the moment
I wrote the DAO Interface without using
Xdoclet tags).

However here is the example:
At Session Bean Level:

/**
 * @ejb.dao class = "xxx.yyy."
  impl_class = "xxx.yyy."

At Session Bean's method level:

/**
 * @param
 * @ejb.interface-method view = "remote"
 * @dao.call = ""

public void beanMethod(list of param ) {

   DAOClass dao = new DAOClass();
   dao. ();

}

When I generate the DAOInterface
I get a result like this:

public interface DAOInterface {
  public void beanMethod();
}

instead of :

public interface DAOInterface {
//the one I put in dao.call = ""
}

I tried to run a webapp which uses the JSTL taglibs on JBoss using tomcat 5.0.16 but
JBoss reports that it cannot find any TLD descriptors.
If I run the webapp in a standalone tomcat 5.0.16 everythins works fine.

I ran tests with compressed or uncompressed .war archives and with TLD declarations
inside web.xml or without but the problem remains.

I created two test war archives as testcases which depict the problem:

The testcases are named:
- tld-bug23.war which contains JSTL for serlvet 2.3 + JSP 1.2 specs
- tld-bug24.war which contains JSTL for servlet 2.4 + JSP 2.0 specs

  Install JBoss IDE per install doc
  From Eclipse:

Click on Templates

Expected: See default templates such as "Entity BMP
EJB"

Actual:  Error message

Note: The above works fine using Eclipse M6.

I have the same environment plus JBossIDE 1.2.230 and
found two issues that cause these problems.

1. when eclipse looks for templates.xml it looks in /.resources
instead off ./resources. I copied the files out of the plugin in
dir C:/.resources and was able to load the JBossIDE
templates.

2. After playing around with the XDoclet modules I noticed it
found a bea module that I had but not jboss or ejb and after
several reinstalls only the bea module showed up. I found
that I had the xdoclet-bea-module in c:\. After copying the
ejb, jboss, and web modules from xdoclet-core plugin dir and
refreshing Xdoclet data in JBossIDE preferences everything
worked.

So it looks like resource paths and the way they are found
are messed up.

[JBoss-dev] [EJB on JBoss] - Deployment problem for two ejb modules that share the same c

2004-02-26 Thread maksymg
Hi All,

I have an ejb1.jar module that by simplicity has a EJBHomeFactory session bean that
caches references to other bean homes. The module by itself works fine.

But I need to include two such modules (driving and driven) in the same application (I
have two similar database schema with references to each other). And the driving
EJBHomeFactory has reference to the driven EJBHomeFactory. To avoid class duplication,
I moved all classes to ejb-classes.jar. Ejb1.jar and ejb2.jar actually contain only
descriptive xml files and reference to the ejb-classes.jar. Of course, all beans have
unique JNDI names. The application is installed successfully. The driving
EJBHomeFactory returns correct references to its module beans. But when I received
references to the driven EJBHomeFactory and ask it to return some its entity beans
pointed to the second database, it actually returns beans filled with data from the
first database (of course if you have records in the tables that share the same
primary key). So more interesting it happens only with references to Entity beans.
With Session beans I have no problem (it seems). So it is look like a sophisticate bug
either in bean reference or in Entity bean JNDI cache that cache entity beans
instances not by JDNI name / primary key, but java.lang.Class instance / primary key.

So more interesting, if I separate the modules into two applications this bug
disappears, but in that case I have problem with class casting.

My application works fine on WebLogic. I understand that my situation is not common.
But may be JBoss developers can fix it in the future. It was tested up to JBoss 3.2.3.

Best regards,
Maksym

[JBoss-dev] [TODO -- DEVELOPMENT] - jbosscmp-jdbc_3_2.dtd on jboss.org is out of date

2004-02-26 Thread sblaes
It appears that the 3.2 dtd posted to jboss.org is out of date at:

http://www.jboss.org/j2ee/dtd/jbosscmp-jdbc_3_2.dtd

It appears that this is not a 3.2.3 dtd because the element is
missing.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Using JSP for the view

2004-02-26 Thread sgwood

I am trying to use JSPs for my views, rather than the templates. With the approach
outlined in this thread, it looks like all JSPs need to be put in the exploded
nukes.war.

How should we deal with JSPs specific to separate modules? Putting all JSPs for all
modules into the exploded nukes.war seems wrong.

Any suggestions?

Sherman

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-905605 ] XidFactory creation does not fail gracefully

2004-02-26 Thread SourceForge.net
Bugs item #905605, was opened at 2004-02-27 04:05
Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter

Summary: XidFactory creation does not fail gracefully

Initial Comment:
If the hostname cannot be resolved (e.g., /etc/hosts
does not have a line defining hostname as localhost)
then when the XidFactory service is created, the JBoss
boot process deadlocks!

A timeout should used so that when the hostname does
not resolve either an error message is produced, or
localhost is used by default.

I have reproduced this error with JBoss 3.2.1 and
3.2.3, but it should exist in the entire 3.2.x line.

Below is a thread dump when the app server is deadlocked:

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Re: refresh xdoclet modules and jbosside modules on project

2004-02-26 Thread letiemble
Hi,

Be sure to be in the Java perspective and in the package explorer view. Otherwise, the
configurations will not appear.

There are two refresh :
- one for the module list which is silent. Once you have refresh the module list, you
can use new Doclet in your configuration.
- one for the completion data which is verbose. Once you have refresh the completion
data, you can use it in the Java editor.

Laurent.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: active developer soundoff

2004-02-26 Thread vietk
I was an early contributor of nukes and I liked this project at its begining and I
love the way it has evolved.
I developed a few modules: news, sections, mp3player (I would like to fine tune this
one!).
Even if I was inactive for a few weeks I constantly keeped an eye on forums or even
Julien to know about the thing happened for nukes.

I recently contribute to fix some bugs, and I am currently extending the user module
in order to search/manage nuke users.

At first sight what interested me in nukes is the scalability this application offers
(a little core and then you can implement whatever you want) .
The second thing that attracted me to contribute to nukes is the "on jboss" part of
nukes, I have never really developped with such a application server and I learned a
lot of things

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: active developer soundoff

2004-02-26 Thread thepriz
I am working on a downloads module. I am also probably going to convert the faq and
poll modules to use templates. I just converted the template module to use templates
and I think this needs to be checked into cvs if we want new developers to use
templates. If we do I will write an issue and attach the changes to the issue.

Initial Comment:
Bill reported:

I made a typo in my ejb-jar.xml file so it didn't match the
 within my webservices.xml file. No complaint
from JBoss on deployment on this.

RE: [JBoss-dev] SnmpAgent startup sequence

2004-02-26 Thread Dimitris Andreadis

Hi,

I've moved your question to the user forums:

http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823027#3823027

I've copied below:

Currently SnmpAgent subscribes/unsubscribes for notifications during start()/stop()
and it requires that the target mbeans are present.

The closest you can get is start SnmpAgent first and use a "depends" clause in his
mbean descriptor, so that it starts immediatelly after the target mbeans. This will
allow you to produce traps AFTER those mbeans are started. However, if you want to map
the "starting/started" notification from those mbeans to traps, this is obviously not
good.

The good news is that I plan to replace the SnmpAgent subscription mechanism with my
new org.jboss.system.ListenerServiceMBeanSupport class, which solves the chicken/egg
problem by monitoring for new mbeans and registering for events dynamically, AFTER
start.

How much do you need this? I might make it for JBoss 3.2.4

Regards
/Dimitris

Subject: [JBoss-dev] SnmpAgent startup sequence

When SnmpAgent is loaded in JBoss it read 3 files (managers.xml,
notifications.xml and mbeans.xml).

However, at that moment our application services haven't been
loaded by JBoss yet. As a result, I cannot specify these
services in mbeans.xml, because the services don't
exist yet.

How do I get around this chicken and egg problem? SnmpAgent
has to be first because it has to send a trap when our services
are started, but our services have to be there before SnmpAgent
because otherwise they aren't recognized by SnmpAgent when
mbeans.xml is parsed.

Or is there a way of registering a service with an already
running SnmpAgent when it is loaded?
