[JBoss-dev] [Tomcat] - Reformulation: context definition in jboss/tomcat

2004-05-20 Thread f_crivellaro
I am running Tomcat as a service of JBoss 3.0.7, and I want to
deploy a web application.
By default, my web application is deployed since I placed a directory
named "my_app.war" under jboss/server/default/deploy.
It works.
I want to add a Context in tomcat/conf/server.xml, but it doesn't works.
Why? how can I set a web-application docBase (in context tag) when running Tomcat as
JBoss service?
(If I can add a context then I can use Environment tag...)

Any suggestions?
Thank's.
F.

I didn't document them because I couldn't think of a usecase. Basically the way it
works is that you can define a class that does the pointcut magic. The class must
implement the org.jboss.aop.pointcut.Pointcut interface and you plug it in with:

  |
  |

Then you can use the "foobar" name in pointcut expressions.

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Deploying/Debugging PetStore in JBoss IDE

2004-05-20 Thread o_swas
Hello,

I am an experienced software developer who normally uses WSAD 5.0.1 at work.

I recently installed Eclipse 2.1.3 with the most recent JBoss IDE plugin. I
downloaded the QuickStart guide and also completed the JBoss IDE tutorial, so I am
familiar with how XDoclet is used to create the EJB interfaces, xml configuration
files, etc.

I now want to download and install Sun's Java PetStore app within the JBoss IDE so I
can run the app and debug through it, as a learning exercise.

My question: What's the best way to go about installing PetStore in JBoss IDE? Since
all the source code is available I'm guessing it's not too much work. What I'm
worried about most is some of the JBoss-specific files like jboss-web.xml and
jboss.xml. In the tutorial, these files were created automatically by XDoclet. How
can I easily create these files when all of the source code has already been provided?

Thank you very much. Right now my only knowledge regarding JBoss IDE came from the
tutorial, so please try to provide any answers in terms that were previously used in
the tutorial.

Thank you very much!!

1.6.1 works. 1.6.0 gives some weird error, which I didn't bother to investigate either.

Ant > 1.5.4 is needed to use the cmpversion attribute to the ejbjar task. Unless
cmpversion="2.0" is added to ejbjar task in build.xml, the jbosscmp-jdbc.xml file does
not seem to get added to the ejb.jar files. I need this for my entity mail list stuff.
I guess an alternative would be to change the packaging code, but give 1.6.1 a go.

Cheers,

Kab

Again, look in:

jboss-X.X/server/default/conf/standardjboss.xml

Search for interceptor

Server side interpceptors for Entity beans have been available since JBoss 2.0.

Our forpay doco should also have examples of implementing an interceptor. (I know
there is at least a lab in our advanced training for this).

But, if you're stuck with trying to implement a appserver agnostic solution, you are
screwed.

[JBoss-dev] [EJB on JBoss] - EJB3 meta model and JDK 1.4

2004-05-20 Thread Bill Burke
EJB 3.0 relies heavily on Annotations as the way to define EJBs. The problem with
this is that Annotation syntax is not available on JDK 1.4. So, what I will do is
have a parallel JDK1.4 based meta model that we will apply using the JBoss AOP
AnnotationCompiler and doclet tags.

This has two advantages

1) JDK 1.4 users can use EJB3
2) We can develop EJB 3 with older IDEs.

[JBoss-dev] [Mail Services] - Re: Mail lists

2004-05-20 Thread kabkhan
OK, I got the entity maillist stuff commited now. The tests (via JMX-console) work
fine. Just as the memory version, it works as an isolated MBean, but will need
integrating with the rest of the system.

What do you think we need to do to test it with Nukes?

Cheers,

Kab

[JBoss-dev] [EJB on JBoss] - EJB3 configuration model

2004-05-20 Thread Bill Burke
After reading the EJB3.0 specification it has become clear to me that Annotations are
a perfect abstraction for our configuration meta model. Therefore all new container
configurations will be defined in Annotations.

There are a lot of advantages with this approach:

1) It is very easy to express anything and parse anything in XML format as we have an
easy mapping from XML to the meta model

2) We are not limited to XML as the configuration format. ANother idea I have is to
define container configurations as Java classes with annotations sprinkled in.

3) EJB3 is all about removing deployment descriptors. A configuration model expressed
as annotations can be embedded in Bean class files like regular EJB annotations are.

Bill

Summary: Jaxen-based Applications no longer working wth JBoss >=3.2.4

Initial Comment:
Hello,

I have a lot of applications based on XPath, which uses
Jaxen for XPath processing. Through JBoss deliveres
within JBoss 3.2.4 and 4.0 JDom as library, also Jaxen
will be delivered in an incompatible version to the
Jaxen-Final. Also the delivered Jaxen version is not
complete, so generic XPath is no longer working because
of the classloader as well - Im currently using the
 element in the applications.xml of my ear.

Here is a short snipped which will no longer work with
this versions:
import org.jaxen.BaseXPath;
import org.jaxen.dom.DOMXPath;
public static Iterator findNodes(Node node, String
xpathquery) {
Iterator it = null;
try {
BaseXPath expression = new DOMXPath(xpathquery);
it = expression.selectNodes(node).iterator();
} catch(Exception exe) { }
if(it==null) {
it = new Vector().iterator();
}
return it;
}

[JBoss-dev] [Tomcat] - access log tab as delimiter

2004-05-20 Thread nmounasamy
Is there a way to use ÂÂ delimiter instead of ÂÂ for the fields in access log?

I am using Jboss 3.2.3 with Tomcat 4.1.29.

Access log config for Tomcat is located at
JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat41.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml

Tried to use \u0009 and <^I> in the access logÂs configuration. But it doesnÂt help.

Thanks

[JBoss-dev] [Mail Services] - Re: Mail lists

2004-05-20 Thread acoliver
Actually the first test is not nukes integration just the JBoss newsletter. So all we
need is to be able to send mail to a list that doesn't allow replies.

I need to look at nukes in more detail to give an intelligent answer on what
challenges nukes integration will bring. Tomorrow I'll be working on getting this set
up so that we can send out the JB newsletter and I'll be working on getting a new code
contribution (a profiler) compiling. However I can look at Nukes on Monday if you
like. Also note that the jboss website is actually in the public CVS.

I'll look at Nukes and tell you what I think is needed (I detailed the basic features
on the plan: http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=MailServicesPlan). Then I will
look into that concurrency bug and JAAS integration.

I have this itch to work on a hibernate mailbox that I'm dying to scratch (Gavin was
just in Raleigh and told me that there is a hibernate deployer + interceptors in the
hibernate module in JBoss CVS), but I must resist. For M3 I want to do that and
refactor the mail store because its not as fast or generic as I'd like. I'd also like
to see if there is a way we can make the the JMSMailListener stuff more generic. It
seems there is a lot of behavior that would likely be reused in any mail listener.

I've been thinking about the chainable unchained stuff. And it seems that I have it
backwards. The DEFAULT *ought* to be chained and the exception ought to be unchained
(because for unchained we ought to make a deep copy or pass some kind of protected or
immutable object).

What did that have to do with mail lists...well it was all connected in my mind
somehow... ;-)

Initial Comment:
Two classes have been included to demonstrate key
elements in the AOP-IDE: dynamic jboss-aop.xml
generation/update and the ability to unmarshal the
precompiler's "-report" aop-report.xml artifact.  The
key points are simplicity in the API and the fact that
it's all in the Java space - no xml.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-957827 ] 4.0.0DR4: Jasper compilation errors with JDK 1.5beta1

2004-05-20 Thread SourceForge.net
Bugs item #957827, was opened at 2004-05-21 05:34
Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter
You can respond by visiting:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=376685&aid=957827&group_id=22866

Category: JBossWeb
Group: v4.0
Status: Open
Resolution: None
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Juergen Zimmermann (juezim)
Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody)
Summary: 4.0.0DR4: Jasper compilation errors with JDK 1.5beta1

Initial Comment:
When using Sun's JDK 1.5.0beta1:

Invoking a JSP like http://localhost:8080/jboss-
net/happyaxis.jsp or http://localhost:8080/jboss-
net/happyjuddi.jsp I get the error message
that JASPER does not find the javac compiler.

Using JDK 1.4.2 for JBoss 4.0.0DR4 solves the problem.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-957834 ] Attribute "JBossWebDeploymentDescriptor" returns null

Submitted By: Joonas Lyytinen (joonasl)

Summary: Attribute "JBossWebDeploymentDescriptor" returns null

Initial Comment:
When using the Management EJB (JSR 77) the attribute
"JBossWebDeploymentDescriptor" for a WebModule returns
null even though the WAR-file contains a jboss-web.xml
file. The web.xml file is returned with attribute
"DeploymentDescriptor".

I'm using JBoss 3.2.3 in Fedora Core 2 Linux system and
JVM 1.4.2.
