RE: [JBoss-dev] RE: Hibernate, HA, ,HEM, antlr versions in Branch_4_0

2006-05-08 Thread Steve Ebersole
Hmmm. This time it built "fine" for me in that it did not fail; not
sure what was going on before.

However, I get strange results:
- server/default/lib contains cglib, although it is missing asm
- server/all/lib contains neither

Just kicked off a clean build, so lets see if that fixes it...

So that produces the question: where is the build failing? If removing
the copy of the libs from dist, removing the build-thirdparty.xml refs
to the unused cglib/asm jars results in a build failure, we must have
some unspecified dependency on these.

Re: [JBoss-dev] jboss-4.0.4.GA-ejb3 does not have entity manager and annotations jars

2006-05-08 Thread Emmanuel Bernard

I've fixed it by enhancing setup-ejb3-dist.
Seems to me that the ejb3 deployer directory builder (whatever that is)
should take care of that though.

I was also able to successfully test EJB3 on the latest HEM and HA.

Ruel Loehr wrote:

Look at the file

/build/build-distr.xml

The target you are concerned with is "setup-ejb3-dist".

It looks like those jars are explicitly being added to the client dir
and are assumed to be in the lib directory (which should then be copied
over to the ejb3 config.

It seems that when building jboss-4.0.4.GA-ejb3, the build system does
not include hibernate-entitymaanger.jar/ejb3-persistence.jar and
hibernate-annotations.jar

How can I fix that?

Thanks

RE: [JBoss-dev] RE: Hibernate, HA, ,HEM, antlr versions in Branch_4_0

2006-05-08 Thread Scott M Stark
The libraries.ent just reflects the binary components pulled in via some
reference. It does not necessarily reflect valid dependencies. The
current example where this is off is that the jbossas
build-thirdparty.xml is referring to cglib but we should no longer have
such a toplevel dependency.

2006-05-08 Thread Steve Ebersole
But that's what I am trying to change ;) I am trying to make the
bundled Hibernate use the Javassist bytecode provider stuff.

But, if I simply remove the Hibernate -> cglib/asm dependency (from the
hibernate component-info), then the AS build fails.

They should remain in the _module-hibernate-int-most if hibernate as
integrated into jbossas has these dependencies.

They should remain in the _module-hibernate-int-most if hibernate as
integrated into jbossas has these dependencies.

moved into the dist directories now?

Where should those 2 copies happen now? Should I just leave it there (I
commented it out because it fails unless cglib and asm are dependencies
of the hibernate component).

The _module-hibernate-int-most still has to handle the base hibernate

jpa/ejb3 needs to be in the setup-ejb3-dist target that is only run when

Yes it was used. Its use should't matter though as long as the
cglib-2.1.2jboss declares a depdendency consistent with what was in the
release. I'll test this with an existing release.

Also, cglib has been bumped up to 2.1.3 in the
jbossas/build-thirdparty.xml anyway so just focus on that for the
current release.

[JBoss-dev] RE: Updated JBossASReleaseChecklist

2006-05-08 Thread Scott M Stark
We need to build with jdk14, then rebuild the jdk5 based modules using
java5. The only point of this is to obtain the ejb3 binaries to upload
the the repository. Ideally this should be a separate project that is
built against jbossas integration jars, but we don't have those
adequately defined.

The installer obtains none of the jdk5 based artifacts from the jbossas
canonical dist binary in the repository. These all come from separate
binaries referenced in the installer build-thirdparty.xml.

[JBoss-dev] RE: Updated JBossASReleaseChecklist

2006-05-08 Thread Ruel Loehr
I did a run through this. The installer portion is very clean, I like
it.
The only question I have is related to the build process for the ejb3
portion.

Previously we would switch the jdk to a 1.5 and build the ejb3 modules.
I'm assuming the installer now pulls this stuff in automatically from
the ejb3 profile.

Will our standard procedure be to create the initial jbossas build using
a 1.5 version jdk (so that the ejb3 profile will be created)?

I updated the jbossas release to reflect the fact that the installer has
been broken out as a separate project. We need to go through a couple of
iterations to make sure that this updated process works for qa:

http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossASReleaseChecklist
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JEMSInstallerReleaseChecklist

All of the javaee5 preview technology as well as the jbossas dist
contents itself are pulled into the jems-installer project via the
binary repository. I have thrown out some prototype binaries for the
jbossas/4.0.4.GA contents and the jboss/ejb3/ 1.0.0.CR7-jboss4 that are
referenced by the jems-installer/build-thirdparty.xml descriptor. Let's
arrange for a walkthrough of a build by Monday.

RE: [JBoss-dev] jboss-4.0.4.GA-ejb3 does not have entity manager and annotations jars

2006-05-08 Thread Ruel Loehr
Look at the file

/build/build-distr.xml

The target you are concerned with is "setup-ejb3-dist".

It looks like those jars are explicitly being added to the client dir
and are assumed to be in the lib directory (which should then be copied
over to the ejb3 config.

It seems that when building jboss-4.0.4.GA-ejb3, the build system does
not include hibernate-entitymaanger.jar/ejb3-persistence.jar and
hibernate-annotations.jar

How can I fix that?

Thanks

RE: [JBoss-dev] RE: Hibernate, HA, ,HEM, antlr versions in Branch_4_0

2006-05-08 Thread Scott M Stark
Yes it was used. Its use should't matter though as long as the
cglib-2.1.2jboss declares a depdendency consistent with what was in the
release. I'll test this with an existing release.

Also, cglib has been bumped up to 2.1.3 in the
jbossas/build-thirdparty.xml anyway so just focus on that for the
current release.

Agreed. However, has cglib-2.1.2jboss been used in a previous release
as of yet?

If so, perhaps another option is a new copy of cglib-2.1.2jboss ->
cglib-2.1.2jboss+asm?

RE: [JBoss-dev] RE: Hibernate, HA, ,HEM, antlr versions in Branch_4_0

2006-05-08 Thread Steve Ebersole
So I've run into problems trying to remove the dependency upon cglib for
hibernate. The hibernate component-info has historically, for whatever
reason, to define a dependency on asm (this was never a direct
dependency). So I defined the component-info for hibernate-3.2.0.cr2
as:

   http://hibernate.org/";
  description="ultra-high performance object/relational
persistence">

However, that now leads to failures when trying to build because asm is
no longer defined as a dependency. Seems logical that cglib really
should be pulling in this dependency, since it is cglib which has this
as a direct dependency.

So it depends on whether cglib-2.1.2jboss (the current dep level for
JBoss AS) has been used in a previous build. Ideally, we should modify
that cglib component-info to pull in this dependency. If that has been
used in a previously AS release, then I guess we'll need to put this asm
dependency at the AS level.

No objections. I just have not switched over hibernate-int yet because
of the outstanding question of cglib/javassist. They are basically
unrelated, but just wanted to get that committed all together.

I'll commit that stuff this morning.

We agree we want those to become:

H -> 3.2.0.CR2
HA -> 3.2.0.CR1
HEM -> 3.2.0.CR1
Antlr -> 2.7.6.ga

Objections?

Hi,

For the jBPM build, i added 1 JBoss core library to the repository:
* jboss-j2ee.jar in
http://repository.jboss.com/jbossas/core-libs/4.0.3.SP1/lib

Also, I added following 3rd party libraries to the repository:
* dumbster.jar in http://repository.jboss.com/dumbster/1.6/lib
* el-api.jar and el-ri.jar in http://repository.jboss.com/el/1.0/lib
* jackrabbit-core-1.0.jar in

* jsf-facelets.jar in http://repository.jboss.com/facelets/1.1.1/lib
* jcr-1.0.jar in http://repository.jboss.com/jcr/1.0/lib

let me know if i should do anything else except just uploading the libs.

regards, tom.

I tried number 2 (IsLocalInterceptor not found), and I initially got the
same problem, but I was using the non-ejb3 build of jboss-4.0. Are you sure
you are using jboss-4.0.4.GA-ejb3? One using that the stateless test passes.

Why?
I mean, the QA makes a build each day.
What is the problem to make a snapshot when
all the builds are done?
The snapshot does not need to be uploaded to
the sourceforge. I mean we have 'labs' for
that. Anyhow it would allow tho have the build
against the latest (non failed) build.

That sucks :)

This will be in the distro when the 4.0.4.GA comes out. We don't have a
downloable snapshot available, unless you want to checkout Branch_4_0
and build it yourself :)

Right, but since we are using the official distro from the
sourceforge, it's still packed without those attributes thought.

Do we have some 'current' package downloadable, because we
are using 'wget' for jboss-XXX.zip?

Scott already changed this, and it'll work if you unzip with a native
tool (not jdk's jar utility).

OK. Does it mean we can rely that the next .zip
will have contain the filemode attributes set?

In that case, we can remove the additional +x
task for those files when building jbossweb.
