[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: What is supported?
It is not a matter of what JBoss Portal supports. It supports everything as long as there is a JSF-Portlet bridge existing. (There are some for MyFaces and Sun RI) JBoss AS 4.0.5 ships with MyFaces 1.1.4 JBoss AS 4.2.0 ships with JSF Sun RI 1.2_04-b16-p02 But you can use whatever version you want, it's not because this is what is shipped with that you are stuck with it. The current bundled AS with JBoss Portal bundle version is JBoss AS 4.0.5, this is probably change in the next releases in favor of JBoss AS 4.2.0. Either version is supported. However, I m not sure whether Tomcat 5.0 Web Container is inbuilt in JBoss 4.0.1 or I need to install Tomcat 5.0 separately along with JBoss and configure both of them so that there isn't any conflict between them. efib10, can you post the details of your processdefinition and your client code? we are investigating these serious concurrency issues that exist in jBPM at the moment. There are two failing jUnit tests in the org.jbpm.job.executor package (JobLoadJoinTest and JobLoadSubprocessTest). As you know debugging and analysing these type of problems is very painful, so we need all the possible info we can get. [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: @DataModel(scope=CONVERSATION) banned, why?
well, there was problem when I use facelet composition (2 levels templating) and my @DataModel private Map myMap was not tied to a proxy-based collection. The map can be displayed in a table at the first time when the composed page was rendered. But I wanted such control: there was a s:button in the same page calling showFacts() which will set the boolean renderMyMapTable to true. If I click this button and load (in fact) the same page, the map table was not loaded any more. Seam might treat them as two different pages There is a work around to this. Put all the Map.Entry in myMap to a list (type: ListMap.EntryMyKey, MyValue) and make the list conversation bean managed. Write a getter for this list and expose the getter in business interface. Ask h:dataTable to iterate the myMapEntryList if the boolean render flag is set to true. This way the map table can be shown/folded as many times as the user wishes. Tested it and it works well. Re: [jboss-user] Server configurations related to Tomcat 5.0 and JBoss 4.0.1 for both development and production.
Hi Udayvir Singh, We are using jboss-4.0.1RC2 for development and production purpose. In this tomcat(5.0) is embeded by default. If you are using default deployment of JBoss then check once: JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar The web container in this is tomcat5.0. So there is no need to download and install the tomcat. [jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Adding a local dir to JBOSS classpath
Hi. I hava a EJB application that uses some libs from a third-party vendor. In order to work these libs needs a config file present in the classpath. How do I configure JBoss to add the local dir where the config file is to the classpath?. I don't want to include the config file in the ear module because my app has to be deployed in different environments where the properties change. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - persisting process after every single node
Hello, IIUC, a process instance is actually persisted when entering a wait node or finishing. I have a process with non-wait (action) nodes that may last very long (hours) themselves. They are calls to remote clusters so while long, they are not resource-hungry. There is a business need to trace process execution from step to step and I wonder if there are some good practices to follow on this issue. If I simply do, in each action : executionContext.getJbpmContext().save(executionContext.getProcessInstance()); executionContext.getJbpmContext().getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().flush(); nothing happens as the transaction does not commit until the first wait state. Ideally I would like to save in the database the process after each and every node. My case is an enterprise jBPM deployed on JBoss. Thank you, Adrian. [jboss-user] [JBoss AOP] - Re: Strange problem of aspectizing EJBs
I believe that the problem stems from the fact that your classes start with the com.sun prefix. When weaving we ignore a bunch of classes |public boolean isNonAdvisableClassName(String classname) |{ | if (ignoreClass(classname)) return true; | if (includeClass(classname)) return false; | if (excludeClass(classname)) return true; | return (classname.startsWith(org.jboss.aop) || | classname.endsWith($aop) || | classname.startsWith(javassist) || | classname.startsWith(org.jboss.util.) || | classname.startsWith(gnu.trove.) || | classname.startsWith(EDU.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.) || | // System classes | classname.startsWith(org.apache.tools.ant) || | classname.startsWith(org.apache.crimson) || | classname.startsWith(org.apache.xalan) || | classname.startsWith(org.apache.xml) || | classname.startsWith(org.apache.xpath) || | classname.startsWith(org.ietf.) || | classname.startsWith(org.omg.) || | classname.startsWith(org.w3c.) || | classname.startsWith(org.xml.sax.) || | classname.startsWith(sunw.) || | classname.startsWith(sun.) || | classname.startsWith(java.) || | classname.startsWith(javax.) || | classname.startsWith(com.sun.) || | classname.startsWith(junit) || | classname.startsWith(jrockit.) || | classname.startsWith(com.bea.vm.) || | classname.startsWith($Proxy) | ); |} | You will have to refactor your application to use another root package. While unfortunate, this is the simplest way we have at the moment to avoid weaving the com.sun classes internal to the JDK... Ok, I solved it myself. The solution is to just do go ahead as usual. But repeat all the annotations but the @Id in the matching attributes of the pk class referred in @IdClass. Ross, as TC 5.0.28 doesn't include the el*.jars by default as the TC 6.0 series does, you will have to repackage el-api.jar and el-ri.jar back into jbpm-console.war/WEB-INF/lib (these files get deleted by the ant call described in step 2.1 of the wiki and can be found in the original web app jbpm-jpdl-3.2.1/deploy/jbpm-console.war/WEB-INF/lib). In addition, the included xml parses make problems as well, so you will also have to replace/delete the content in common/endorsed. Please let me know if you encounter any additional issues. Hello, I would like to have something like : public class OnStartAction implements ActionHandler { | Datasource datasource; | | ... | } And I would like to have the datasource property injected by jBPM. What I can do at this point is to add this declaration to jbpm.cfg.xml : bean name=extra-datasource class=javax.sql.Datasource singleton=true | constructor factory-class=fr.bnf.entrychain.jbpm.actions.helper.TestDatasourceFactory method=lookupDatasource | /constructor | /bean ... and have the following code inside the action : ds = (DataSource) ctxt.getJbpmContext().getObjectFactory().createObject(extra-datasource); I don't like this solution because it's not very DI-compliant. Some injection may be done by mocking the whole jbmcontext.objectfactory... object graph but I would kind of bet there's a simpler solution. Thanks for any ideas. [jboss-user] Using Java Persistence from web tier
What is the correct way of accessing a Java Persistence unit from the web tier (no EJB session beans)? I use JBoss 4.2.0. I can't get the resource injection annotations @PersistenceUnit or @PersistenceContext to work, so I have done like this: public class MyServletContextListener implements ServletContextListener { public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) { try { EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(myunit); sce.getServletContext().setAttribute(EntityManagerFactory.class.getName(), emf); } catch (RuntimeException e) { throw e; } catch (Exception e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); } } public void contextDestroyed(ServletContextEvent sce) { EntityManagerFactory emf = (EntityManagerFactory)sce.getServletContext().getAttribute( EntityManagerFactory.class.getName()); if (emf != null) { emf.close(); } } } and for each web request I do like this: EntityManagerFactory emf = (EntityManagerFactory)context.getAttribute(EntityManagerFactory.class.getName()); EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); EntityTransaction transaction = em.getTransaction(); transaction.begin(); try { // process the request here... transaction.commit(); } catch (Exception e) { transaction.rollback(); // log the error } finally { em.close(); } It seems to work, but is it thread-safe and does it give reasonable performance? ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Reading threads are blocked
Another approach to consider is that if a lock is always needed on a node, it should be created in the constructor rather than being done lazily. Gets around the unnecessary call to initLock() whenever getLock() is invoked. Need to think about this a bit first though. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - deep copy of a process Instance
hello how can you perform a deep copy of a ProcessInstance (with all its variables)? I could not find any hint so do so in a simple manner in the jbpm api. I just found http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3922034#3922034 where someone thought about deep copies in jbpm. In my opinion it should be possible to deep copy a finished process instance, set the token to its start and run the new process instance. [jboss-user] [JBossCache] - CR3 Listener
I just upgraded to CR3 and found out that the CacheListener interface has been removed in favor for the annotationbased listener. Some gripes: 1. Wouldn't this be considered a major api change(?) and as such should not go in between two cr releases? 2. I understand that the benefit is that you can choose to declare only those listener methods you are interested of, thus reducing the amount of empty boilerplate listener methods. However, the downpart is that we are losing type safety here and I personally do not consider this a good bargain. From the documentation we can read: anonymous wrote : Methods annotated as such need to be public, have a void return type, and accept a single parameter of type org.jboss.cache.notifications.event.Event or one of it's subtypes. Now, isn't this exactly why we have interfaces? An interface enforces signature and types. If we fail to honor the interface we get a nice compilation error, with the annotation based model we will get runtime checking and runtime errors. If we look at the list of available annotations here http://labs.jboss.com/file-access/default/members/jbosscache/freezone/docs/2.0.0.CR3/JBossCache-UserGuide/en/html_single/index.html#api.listener we can see that the input ot the methods differ. Now I have to switch between my IDE and the documentation to lookup the annotation and what the proper signature is. Should I fail to comply, my IDE will not tell me since there is no compile-time checking. Furthermore, since there is no longer a CacheListener interface, I cannot use that interface for listener-registration in layers created on top of the cache, forcing me either into allowing Object or creating my own Listener interface which will allow me at least some typesafety. But in the end I will never really know until the cache is started and every possible listener has been registered to the cache, right? Generally I'm not opposed annotations. I think they do fill a purpose, but I can't seem understand the reasons for this particular design decision. [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Expanded Programmatic Security
I'm attempting to write a portlet that has some additional internal security features. The overall goal will be to allow selected access to MBeans on a remote server (for the time being the goal is to restart foreign JVMs on a WAS 5.1 AS). At any rate, I was hoping to make the security checks internal to the portlet based on a user's JBP roles. In doing so, I have set up portlet.xml with the following: . . . | security-role-ref | role-nameMyPortletUser/role-name | role-linkUser/role-link | /security-role-ref | security-role-ref | role-nameMyPortletAdmin/role-name | role-linkAdmin/role-link | /security-role-ref | . . . With this setup, I can programmatically check if a user is part of a particular group with isUserInRole() for either of the two listed roles. My curiosity is if the roles that I use inside the portlet are strictly defined by the contents of this descriptor. Would it be possible to test against some other role-name, without editing the descriptor? Here are the config files. What am I missing? Ok, I found it. A stupid mistake for a change. I should have seen the | select exceptionh0_.PROCESSDEFINITION_ as PROCESSD5_1_, except | ionh0_.ID_ as ID1_1_, exceptionh0_.GRAPHELEMENTINDEX_ as GRAPHELE6_1_, exceptionh0_.ID_ as ID1_7_0_, | exceptionh0_.EXCEPTIONCLASSNAME_ as EXCEPTIO2_7_0_, exceptionh0_.TYPE_ as TYPE3_7_0_, exceptionh0_. | GRAPHELEMENT_ as GRAPHELE4_7_0_ from JBPM_EXCEPTIONHANDLER I missed an exception in one of the handlers. Bit a pitty it is so easily overlooked if you don't define an exception handler in your process. Anyway, again thanks for the input guys! [jboss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - define custom context in context.xml
Hi, I'm using jboss 4.0.5, and I tried to define custom context in server.xml. ,but I can not access the context, I keep on getting 404. I wrote following in server.xml. It does not work Do i need to put this in context.xml. If yes how can i do it. Below is my dafault context.xml !-- The contents of this file will be loaded for each web application -- !-- Session persistence is disable by default. The pojo/ClientSession class is only shipped in DemoService.jar I use the farm directory to deploy the service in my two-node cluster. [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - how to use PropertyChangeListener on entity beans for drools
I want to use: | StatefulSession ss = myRuleBase.newStatefulSession(); | ss.setGlobal(conversationBean, this); | ... | ss.insert(entity, true); | ... | The true flag means the obj I inserted into the ss rule session is a dynamic object, the stateful rule session is aware of the changes of the properties of the entity. But according to Drools manual section 1.6.4.5, I must write code like this in my entity beans: | private final PropertyChangeSupport changes = new PropertyChangeSupport( this ); | ... | public void addPropertyChangeListener(final PropertyChangeListener l) { | this.changes.addPropertyChangeListener( l ); | } | | public void removePropertyChangeListener(final PropertyChangeListener l) { | this.changes.removePropertyChangeListener( l ); | } | ... | | public void setState(final String newState) { | String oldState = this.state; | this.state = newState; | this.changes.firePropertyChange( state, | oldState, | newState ); | } | I have a feeling that frameworks like hibernate or seam or the ejb 3 container have already some property change listeners employed for entity beansthe property change listeners do already exist, how can I make Drools share the property change listeners? Thanks!
