[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: What is supported?

2007-07-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It is not a matter of what JBoss Portal supports.
It supports everything as long as there is a JSF-Portlet bridge existing.
(There are some for MyFaces and Sun RI)

JBoss AS 4.0.5 ships with MyFaces 1.1.4
JBoss AS 4.2.0 ships with JSF Sun RI 1.2_04-b16-p02

But you can use whatever version you want, it's not because this is what is
shipped with that you are stuck with it.

The current bundled AS with JBoss Portal bundle version is JBoss AS 4.0.5,
this is probably change in the next releases in favor of JBoss AS 4.2.0. Either
version is supported.

[jboss-user] Server configurations related to Tomcat 5.0 and JBoss 4.0.1 for both development and production.

2007-07-16 Thread Udayvir Singh

Hi,

I m trying to configure JBoss 4.0.1 with Eclipse 3.2 (Earlier I was using
Tomcat 5.0 with Eclipse 3.2).
I know that JBoss uses web container of Tomcat.
However, I m not sure whether Tomcat 5.0 Web Container is inbuilt in JBoss
4.0.1 or I need to install Tomcat 5.0 separately along with JBoss and
configure both of them so that there isn't any conflict between them.
I both cases i want to know all the server configurations related to Tomcat
5.0 and JBoss 4.0.1 for both development and production.

Can u help me with this. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks In Advance.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: JBPM - concurrent process execution fails

2007-07-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
efib10,

can you post the details of your processdefinition and your client code? we are
investigating these serious concurrency issues that exist in jBPM at the
moment. There are two failing jUnit tests in the org.jbpm.job.executor package
(JobLoadJoinTest and JobLoadSubprocessTest). As you know debugging and
analysing these type of problems is very painful, so we need all the possible
info we can get.

Thanks,
Koen

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration DEPLOYMENT] - Jboss4.2 - Mysql5

2007-07-16 Thread ysiraj

This is a repost of 4.0.5 to 4.2.0 upgrade and JBossTS... I'm kinda desperate
on getting this resolved. My issue is exactly the same as reported by helgaw..
so i've copied his/her stuff to save time...
...
Currently I am getting

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: object is not an instance of declaring class

while creating entity beans (ejb 2). Reads, updates and deletes seem to work
fine.

I have not modifed the jbossjta-properties.xml file but I have moved all my
-ds.xml files from

Code:

local-tx-datasource

to

Code:

xa-datasource

I would prefer that rather than sticking with the local transactions as that is
more of a long term solution.

My ds file looks like this

Code:

xa-datasource
jndi-nameSystemDS/jndi-name
xa-datasource-property
name=URLjdbc:mysql://myserver/mydb/xa-datasource-property

xa-datasource-classcom.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlXADataSource/xa-datasource-class

and I am using mysql-connector 5.0.3 (also tried 5.0.6)

There is no example of a mysql -ds file using xa provided in the
docs\examples\jca directories.

Here is a log of what happens:

Thanks for the info.
yes it is important a user does not try to get it when playing with urls.

may be you could write a Wiki about that ?

and if you want things done for later versions, write a Jira to have something
done about this ?
(dashboard objects might be packaged like the samples, in a special war... )

create a transaction to prevent topic creation if the database update failure?

Thanks in advance,

Rodrigo

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - use of Browser back Button gives me afterwords wrong results

2007-07-16 Thread EverlastX1
The Problem is like this: I get a result List lets say with 5 Documents about
Seam. Each one with a creator.
If I now click on one of the creator in this seam list I get a result list with
all documents by this creator. So far this is working fine.

But !!! if I use the browser Back Button I get back to the Prev. 5 sem result
list.So far as expected. If I then click on another creator name. I get the
same result as before.

I use Statefull Beans and I would like to keep using it. I guess if I switch to
Stateless I want get this problem but.

Here another aproach of explanation

Search for SEAM Gives this Results:

Bit obvious really.

Adding @In(create=true) to the UserProfile declaration in the Authenticator

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: @DataModel(scope=CONVERSATION) banned, why?

2007-07-16 Thread ellenzhao
well, there was problem when I use facelet composition (2 levels templating)
and my @DataModel private Map myMap was not tied to a proxy-based collection.
The map can be displayed in a table at the first time when the composed page
was rendered. But I wanted such control: there was a s:button in the same page
calling showFacts() which will set the boolean renderMyMapTable to true. If I
click this button and load (in fact) the same page, the map table was not
loaded any more. Seam might treat them as two different pages

There is a work around to this. Put all the Map.Entry in myMap to a list (type:
ListMap.EntryMyKey, MyValue) and make the list conversation bean managed.
Write a getter for this list and expose the getter in business interface. Ask
h:dataTable to iterate the myMapEntryList if the boolean render flag is set
to true. This way the map table can be shown/folded as many times as the user
wishes. Tested it and it works well.

Hi Udayvir Singh,
  We are using jboss-4.0.1RC2 for development and production purpose. In
this tomcat(5.0) is embeded by default. If you are using default deployment of
JBoss then check once: JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar
  The web container in this is tomcat5.0. So there is no need to download and
install the tomcat.

I both cases i want to know all the server configurations related to Tomcat 5.0

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Adding a local dir to JBOSS classpath

2007-07-16 Thread ansanes
Hi. I hava a EJB application that uses some libs from a third-party vendor.
In order to work these libs needs a config file present in the classpath.

How do I configure JBoss to add the local dir where the config file is to the
classpath?.

I don't want to include the config file in the ear module because my app has to
be deployed in different environments where the properties change.

Thanks

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - persisting process after every single node

2007-07-16 Thread gogoasa
Hello,

IIUC, a process instance is actually persisted when entering a wait node or
finishing.

I have a process with non-wait (action) nodes that may last very long (hours)
themselves. They are calls to remote clusters so while long, they are not
resource-hungry. There is a business need to trace process execution from step
to step and I wonder if there are some good practices to follow on this issue.

If I simply do, in each action :

executionContext.getJbpmContext().save(executionContext.getProcessInstance());
executionContext.getJbpmContext().getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().flush();

nothing happens as the transaction does not commit until the first wait state.

Ideally I would like to save in the database the process after each and every
node. My case is an enterprise jBPM deployed on JBoss.

Thank you,
Adrian.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: deploying jbpm-jpdl-3.2.1 to tomcat 5.0.28 with/without

2007-07-16 Thread rossputin
Hi,

most things seem to be straight forward to follow using the aproach detailed in
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmOnTomcat, but on tomcat 5.0.28 I
am getting the following error when accessing the webapp...

2007-07-16 11:30:03 StandardContext[/jbpm-console]Error configuring application
listener of class com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/el/ExpressionFactory

at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2640)
at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Class.java:321)
at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Class.java:303)

Am I required to use a later version than 5.0.28 which is what my company are
currently standardised on, or is there a jar file I can simply put in place to
fix this ?

Thanks for your help,

Ross

[jboss-user] [JBoss AOP] - Re: Strange problem of aspectizing EJBs

2007-07-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I believe that the problem stems from the fact that your classes start with the
com.sun prefix. When weaving we ignore a bunch of classes

  |public boolean isNonAdvisableClassName(String classname)
  |{
  |   if (ignoreClass(classname)) return true;
  |   if (includeClass(classname)) return false;
  |   if (excludeClass(classname)) return true;
  |   return (classname.startsWith(org.jboss.aop) ||
  |   classname.endsWith($aop) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(javassist) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.jboss.util.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(gnu.trove.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(EDU.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.) ||
  |   // System classes
  |   classname.startsWith(org.apache.tools.ant) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.apache.crimson) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.apache.xalan) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.apache.xml) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.apache.xpath) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.ietf.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.omg.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.w3c.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(org.xml.sax.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(sunw.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(sun.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(java.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(javax.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(com.sun.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(junit) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(jrockit.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith(com.bea.vm.) ||
  |   classname.startsWith($Proxy)
  |  );
  |}
  |

You will have to refactor your application to use another root package. While
unfortunate, this is the simplest way we have at the moment to avoid weaving
the com.sun classes internal to the JDK...

Hi ya

Got this one licked! Im not entirely sure what the exact reason is but i will

  | return home;
  | }
  |
  | @BeginTask
  | public String view_cr_waiting_editor_revise() {
  | return view_crwaiting_edrevise;
  | }

THIS IS WHAT I DID

I Moved the methods invold in conversational scope into a seperate class

@Stateful
  | @Name(createChangeRequest)
  | public class CreateChangeRequestAction implements CreateChangeRequest {
  |
  | @In(required = false)
  |@Out(scope = BUSINESS_PROCESS,required = false)
  | ChangeRequest changerequest;
  | @In(required = false)
  | GsmsMetaData gsmsMetaData;
  |
  | @In(required = false)
  | NewGSMSData newGsmsData;
  |
  | @In(required = false)
  | RequestState requestState;
  |
  | @In(required = false)
  | RequestReference requestReference;
  |
  | @In
  | User user;
  |
  |
  |   @Begin
  |   public String newTicket() {
  | if (changerequest.getCrAction().equals(EDIT)) {
  | return editdoc;
  | }
  | if (changerequest.getCrAction().equals(NEW)) {
  | return newdoc;
  | }
  | if (changerequest.getCrAction().equals(MOVE)) {
  | return movedoc;
  | }
  | if (changerequest.getCrAction().equals(DELETE)) {
  | return deletedoc;
  | }
  | if (changerequest.getCrAction().equals(OTHER)) {
  | return other;
  | }
  | //throw exception
  | return home;
  | }
  |
  | @End
  | public String submitTicket() {
  |
  | //CREATE CHANGE REQUEST
  |
  | getChangeRequestDAO().saveCr(changerequest);
  |
  | TicketSystem TS = new TicketSystemAction();
  |
  |
  | return TS.startTheCrProcess();
  |
  | }
  |

This was a hunch that worked, Id really like to know why it did what it did but
i dont have the time. Ill post again when i work out.

an update:

kukeltje, i don't think that the problem comes from bug jbpm-443, since the
fields as bit have values, on the bug description is says that the fiekds had
an empty string not the case here.

Another thing on the database, jbpm_decisionconditions is empty, and on
jbpm_node the record that matches the decision node has all the fields empty
except id, class, name, description, processdefinition, nodecollectionindex,
isasync and isasyncexcl, don't know if that's usual.

Ok, I solved it myself.

The solution is to just do go ahead as usual. But repeat all the annotations
but the @Id in the matching attributes of the pk class referred in @IdClass.
Thus all these attributes are classes, none is an int (as the key parts are).
The int is only used internally.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: deploying jbpm-jpdl-3.2.1 to tomcat 5.0.28 with/without

2007-07-16 Thread mputz
Ross,

as TC 5.0.28 doesn't include the el*.jars by default as the TC 6.0 series does,
you will have to repackage el-api.jar and el-ri.jar back into
jbpm-console.war/WEB-INF/lib (these files get deleted by the ant call described
in step 2.1 of the wiki and can be found in the original web app
jbpm-jpdl-3.2.1/deploy/jbpm-console.war/WEB-INF/lib).

In addition, the included xml parses make problems as well, so you will also
have to replace/delete the content in common/endorsed.

Please let me know if you encounter any additional issues.

So to be complete I required 2 fixes: the one above to Hibernate plus a fix to
ConversationInterceptor as follows:

  | {
  | setFlushMode(method); // JAL FlushMode should be set BEFORE we call
the method!?
  | Object result = invocation.proceed();
  | beginConversationIfNecessary(method, result);
  | endConversationIfNecessary(method, result);
  | return result;
  | }

I have also added this to JIRA as a bug.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Data Persistence Question

2007-07-16 Thread mailinator
Hi everyone,

i was wondering if the persistence of the process in the database was done (or
not) wih the data of the process.

For example, if i have a process and in this process i have a task.
The user give me some information (let's say that i place this information in
an object with booleans and arrays).

Is that information persisted in the database with the process instance ?

If not, do you have any idea how it could be done ?

Thanks for considering my request,

Regards,

O.M.

A NACK is a negative acknowledgement. i.e. the client did not accept the
message.
You can see it putting the message back in the queue for somebody else to
process.

That's the expected behaviour if you think about.
One client NACKs the message then another one receives it.

Why the client is not acknowledging the messages it is receiving
is something for you to determine.
The rest of your post is irrelevant to that question.

*GUESS 1: It's always rolling back because some process cannot complete.

*GUESS 2: You forgot to commit the session, so only when the session
is closed are the messages from the incomplete transaction NACKed.

If I understand your quetion correctly, it wasn't used to directly set the
value on a ValueHolder, it was setting a parameter on a facelet source tag:

e.g. not

  | h:inputText value=#{a? a: b} /
  |
but more like:

  | sl:myInputField value=#{a? a: b}  label=... /
  |

  | ui:composition xmlns-...

  | /ui:composition
  |

if that helps :) - I don't have the original code to hand any more.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - inject datasource into Action

2007-07-16 Thread gogoasa
Hello,

I would like to have something like :

public class OnStartAction implements ActionHandler {
  |   Datasource datasource;
  |
  |   ...
  | }

And I would like to have the datasource property injected by jBPM. I haven't
actually found a direct solution. What I can do at this point is to add this
declaration to jbpm.cfg.xml :

  bean name=extra-datasource class=javax.sql.Datasource singleton=true
  | constructor
factory-class=fr.bnf.entrychain.jbpm.actions.helper.TestDatasourceFactory
method=lookupDatasource
  | /constructor
  |   /bean

... and have the following code inside the action :

ds = (DataSource)
ctxt.getJbpmContext().getObjectFactory().createObject(extra-datasource);

I don't like this solution because it's not very DI-compliant. Some injection
may be done by mocking the whole jbmcontext.objectfactory... object graph but I
would kind of bet there's a simpler solution.

Thanks for any ideas.

Correct. This will help you achieve maximum concurrency in the cache.

By using a separate shared lock on the Fqn. See, for example, line 181 in
JDBCCacheLoader

It depends. Where are your bottlenecks? Is it in concurrency, replication or
cache loading? :-) Either way though, use the tree structure fully, don't put
too much in each node.

[jboss-user] Using Java Persistence from web tier

2007-07-16 Thread Mikael Ståldal
What is the correct way of accessing a Java Persistence unit from the web tier (no EJB
session beans)?

I use JBoss 4.2.0.

I can't get the resource injection annotations @PersistenceUnit or @PersistenceContext to
work, so I have done like this:

public class MyServletContextListener implements ServletContextListener {

public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) {
try {
EntityManagerFactory emf =
Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(myunit);

sce.getServletContext().setAttribute(EntityManagerFactory.class.getName(), emf);
}
catch (RuntimeException e) {
throw e;
}
catch (Exception e) {
throw new RuntimeException(e);
}
}

public void contextDestroyed(ServletContextEvent sce) {
EntityManagerFactory emf =
(EntityManagerFactory)sce.getServletContext().getAttribute(
EntityManagerFactory.class.getName());
if (emf != null) {
emf.close();
}
}

}

and for each web request I do like this:

EntityManagerFactory emf =
(EntityManagerFactory)context.getAttribute(EntityManagerFactory.class.getName());

EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager();
EntityTransaction transaction = em.getTransaction();
transaction.begin();

try {
// process the request here...

} catch (Exception e) {
transaction.rollback();
// log the error
} finally {

}

It seems to work, but is it thread-safe and does it give reasonable performance?

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Reading threads are blocked

2007-07-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Another approach to consider is that if a lock is always needed on a node, it
should be created in the constructor rather than being done lazily. Gets
around the unnecessary call to initLock() whenever getLock() is invoked.

Need to think about this a bit first though.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - deep copy of a process Instance

2007-07-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
hello

how can you perform a deep copy of a ProcessInstance (with all its variables)?
I could not find any hint so do so in a simple manner in the jbpm api.
I just found
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3922034#3922034 where
someone thought about deep copies in jbpm.

In my opinion it should be possible to deep copy a finished process instance,
set the token to its start and run the new process instance.

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - CR3 Listener

2007-07-16 Thread FredrikJ
I just upgraded to CR3 and found out that the CacheListener interface has been
removed in favor for the annotationbased listener.

Some gripes:

1. Wouldn't this be considered a major api change(?) and as such should not go
in between two cr releases?

2. I understand that the benefit is that you can choose to declare only those
listener methods you are interested of, thus reducing the amount of empty
boilerplate listener methods. However, the downpart is that we are losing type
safety here and I personally do not consider this a good bargain.

From the documentation we can read:
anonymous wrote : Methods annotated as such need to be public, have a void
return type, and accept a single parameter of type
org.jboss.cache.notifications.event.Event or one of it's subtypes.
Now, isn't this exactly why we have interfaces? An interface enforces signature
and types. If we fail to honor the interface we get a nice compilation error,
with the annotation based model we will get runtime checking and runtime
errors.

If we look at the list of available annotations here
http://labs.jboss.com/file-access/default/members/jbosscache/freezone/docs/2.0.0.CR3/JBossCache-UserGuide/en/html_single/index.html#api.listener
 we can see that the input ot the methods differ. Now I have to switch between
my IDE and the documentation to lookup the annotation and what the proper
signature is. Should I fail to comply, my IDE will not tell me since there is
no compile-time checking.

Furthermore, since there is no longer a CacheListener interface, I cannot use
that interface for listener-registration in layers created on top of the cache,
forcing me either into allowing Object or creating my own Listener interface
which will allow me at least some typesafety. But in the end I will never
really know until the cache is started and every possible listener has been
registered to the cache, right?

Generally I'm not opposed annotations. I think they do fill a purpose, but I
can't seem understand the reasons for this particular design decision.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Expanded Programmatic Security

2007-07-16 Thread brownfielda
I'm attempting to write a portlet that has some additional internal security
features. The overall goal will be to allow selected access to MBeans on a
remote server (for the time being the goal is to restart foreign JVMs on a WAS
5.1 AS).

At any rate, I was hoping to make the security checks internal to the portlet
based on a user's JBP roles. In doing so, I have set up portlet.xml with the
following:
. . .
  | security-role-ref
  | role-nameMyPortletUser/role-name
  | role-linkUser/role-link
  | /security-role-ref
  | security-role-ref
  | role-nameMyPortletAdmin/role-name
  | role-linkAdmin/role-link
  | /security-role-ref
  | . . .

With this setup, I can programmatically check if a user is part of a particular
group with isUserInRole() for either of the two listed roles. My curiosity is
if the roles that I use inside the portlet are strictly defined by the contents
of this descriptor.

Would it be possible to test against some other role-name, without editing the
descriptor?

The call to the webservice works fine but the parameter are null (or 0 in case

the Bean:

  | }
  |
  | public final String sayHallo(int iNameGot)
  | {
  | return Hallo  + iNameGot;
  | }
  | }
  |

the call (xml):

  | ?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?soap:Envelope
xmlns:soap='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'soap:BodysayHallo
xmlns='http://www.tai.it/TheService'arg05567/arg0/sayHallo/soap:Body/soap:Envelope

and the response (xml)
Status:200
  | RESULT:env:Envelope

 xmlns:ns2=http://www.tai.it/TheService;returnHallo

where is my mistake?

I'm using jboss 4.0.5, and I tried to define custom context in server.xml.
,but I can not access the context, I keep on getting 404.

I wrote following in server.xml. It does not work

Do i need to put this in context.xml. If yes how can i do it.
Below is my dafault context.xml
!-- The contents of this file will be loaded for each web application --

   !-- Session persistence is disable by default. To enable for all web
   apps set the pathname to a non-empty value:

   To enable session persistence for a single web app, add a
   WEB-INF/context.xml
   --

   !-- Install an InstanceListener to handle the establishment of the run-as
   role for servlet init/destroy events.
   --
   org.jboss.web.tomcat.security.RunAsListener

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: PojoCache with Compile Time Weaving on JBoss 4.2.0 ?

2007-07-16 Thread mbroons
The pojo/ClientSession class is only shipped in DemoService.jar
I use the farm directory to deploy the service in my two-node cluster.

If the problem is due to class loading, is there a way to enable classloader
traces in JBoss ?

The log message certainly doesn't jump out and bite you!

Do you perhaps want to JIRA it?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - how to use PropertyChangeListener on entity beans for drools

2007-07-16 Thread ellenzhao
I want to use:

  | StatefulSession ss = myRuleBase.newStatefulSession();
  | ss.setGlobal(conversationBean, this);
  | ...
  | ss.insert(entity, true);
  | ...
  |

The true flag means the obj I inserted into the ss rule session is a dynamic
object, the stateful rule session is aware of the changes of the properties of
the entity. But according to Drools manual section 1.6.4.5, I must write code
like this in my entity beans:

  | private final PropertyChangeSupport changes = new PropertyChangeSupport(
this );
  | ...
  | public void addPropertyChangeListener(final PropertyChangeListener l) {
  | this.changes.addPropertyChangeListener( l );
  | }
  |
  | public void removePropertyChangeListener(final PropertyChangeListener l) {
  | this.changes.removePropertyChangeListener( l );
  | }
  | ...
  |
  | public void setState(final String newState) {
  | String oldState = this.state;
  | this.state = newState;
  | this.changes.firePropertyChange( state,
  |   oldState,
  |   newState );
  | }
  |

I have a feeling that frameworks like hibernate or seam or the ejb 3 container
have already some property change listeners employed for entity beansthe
property change listeners do already exist, how can I make Drools share the
property change listeners? Thanks!

Regards,
Ellen
