You can also use the jbpm-console to create users/actors, or directly enter
users into the database, or write your own app to create users in the database.

See: http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmGettingStarted

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - blank tomcat project

2007-09-25 Thread kev921
Hello,

I have attempted to create a seam project in tomcat using the seam-gen script.
but have not been successful so far (even after following closely the
instructions on the reference documentation)

Therefore, I am now looking for a simple, blank seam project war file that
would work on tomcat 6.0 with ZERO modifications.

thank you

2007-09-25 Thread dleerob
Thanks Ronald,

I have tried your example, however, there doesn't seem to be a method
getIdentityService(); There is a getService(String name) method, so I thought
that perhaps I should pass in some sort of 'Identity Service' name, so I looked
in Services.java and found these service names defined:

  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_AUTHENTICATION  = "authentication";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_AUTHORIZATION   = "authorization";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_TX  = "tx";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_LOGGING = "logging";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_MESSAGE = "message";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_PERSISTENCE = "persistence";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_SCHEDULER   = "scheduler";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_JCR = "jcr";
  |   public static final String SERVICENAME_ADDRESSRESOLVER =
"addressresolver";
There doesn't seem to be anything for an Identity Service?

multiple Datasources works, but only with specific databases.
I think that this is a question that belongs in a forum corresponding to the

Datasources are configured in a container(Tomxcat Jboss glassfish..)

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - jboss downloads do not include jboss tools

2007-09-25 Thread bdlink
In the jboss downloads area, http://labs.jboss.com/projects/download, under
tools, it has jboss IDE for eclipse (which the seam 2.0 documentation and
earlier refers to). The most recent version there is 2.0.0 Beta2. There is no
mention of an eclipse update site (only for the stable 1.6 version)

I only discovered by accident this forum (many screens below the top of the
forum list) and that there was a version 2.0.0beta3 and that you were renaming
it Jboss tools.

The jboss download site should be updated, I think.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Multiple Datasources

2007-09-25 Thread news918
Hi community

I'm developing a new application that use a local database to store metadata
and user parameters but I have to connect to multiple projects databases too.

I know it's possible to have multiple datasources using Seam but I'd like to
know if it's possible to add/remove datasources programatically. I mean the
application should have options to add and remove datasources.

TIA

[jboss-user] Re: Can not seem to name foreign keys in relationships

2007-09-25 Thread samk
See Thread at: http://www.techienuggets.com/Detail?tx=11691 Posted on behalf of
a User

>Fixed it, it was the precence of the following that was causing the problem:
>
>@UniqueConstraint(columnNames={"name","catalogue"}

>Should have been

>@UniqueConstraint(columnNames={"name","catalogueFK"}

Hi, where did you add this unique contraint ? on the table or the column ? I
guess column.. and in which class ??

In Response To:

I am having problems with EJB3 bidirectional relationships. We are upgrading an
EJB2 system to EJB3 and the names of our foreign key columns are causing us a
headache.

Table ArchiveSet has a foreign key into table Catalogue via the column
CATALOGUEFK
So we need a many-to-1 relationship.

I create that side of the relationship and specify the name of the foreign
key

@Entity
  | public class ArchiveSet ...
  |
  | @ManyToOne
  | @JoinColumn(name="catalogueFK")
  | public Catalogue getCatalogue() {
  | return catalogue;
  | }

I then complete the relationship and map to the catalogue property of the
ArchiveSet entity...
@Entity
  | public class Catalogue ...
  |
  | @OneToMany(mappedBy="catalogue")
  | public Collection getArchiveSets() {
  | return archiveSets;
  | }

The following error occurs:

org.hibernate.MappingException: Unable to find column with logical name
catalogue in table ArchiveSet

We have tried everything and it will only stop moaning if both the JoinColumn
name and the mappedBy name are "catalogue". The @Column annotation is not
allowed in conjunction with the @ManyToOne annotation (don't know where this is
documented...), so how on earth do I specify a different name for the foreign
key?!! This could be a blocker to using EJB3.

[jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Lazy Loading of Map key For OneToMany

2007-09-25 Thread calidoggg
Hi,

I am using maps to represent a one-to-many relationship in our entity:

@OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "patientID")
  | private Map orderTableCollection;

This is a snippet of the Patient entity, which has a one to many relationship
with the OrderTable entity.

I am going to be detaching this entity from the J2EE server. Since this is a
oneToMany relationship the Map is lazily loaded by default (this is the
behavior that I want, I DO NOT want to eagerly load it); does this mean the Map
might not be instantiated? Or will the Map be instantiated with the proper
OrderTable keys but not the corresponding OrderTable entity values?

Thanks.

JSF backing bean methods/getters can be called unlimited times. there is no set
limit. Ofcourse its not only one time because we have experienced 4-6 times
ourselves. So live with it and maybe do what we did. put a condition statement
to check if the property was already set. otherwise return whatever it had

If there's any relationship between the entities in Jar1 and Jar2
(associations, mapped superclasses, etc), you'll have to reference the classes

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Cache not accessible from different methods ?

2007-09-25 Thread jacobeukes
I will appreciate any help I can get with the following critical issue:

In the code below ...

  | private void populateCache() {
  |   Person person = new Person("Chris","Harris",32);
  |   PojoCache pojoCache =
PojoCacheFactory.createCache("META-INF/service.xml", true);
  |   pojoCache.attach("/cachedobjects/person", person);
  |   Person dummyPerson = (Person)pojoCache.find("/cachedobjects/person");
  | log.info("Name = " + dummyPerson.getName());
  | }
  |
  | private void displayCacheContents() {
  |   PojoCache pojoCache =
PojoCacheFactory.createCache("META-INF/service.xml");
  |   Person person = (Person)pojoCache.find("/cachedobjects/person");
  | log.info("Name = " + person.getName());
  | }
  |
  | public static void main(String args[]) {
  |   MyApp app = new MyApp();
  |   myApp.populateCache();
  |   myApp.displayCacheContents();
  | }
  |

... why does all the code in populateCache() execute successfully (it creates
an instance of Person, creates an instance of the cache, attaches the object to
the cache, finds the object in the cache and then prints out one of its values
via a getter), but the code in displayCacheContents() fails with a
NullPointerException at the point where the getter is used (which means an
instance of Person is never retrieved from the cache).

I would have thought that the cache would be globally accessible, but it seems
that the cache looses its contents as soon as a cache instance goes out of
scope. I have created a Singleton that passes back an instance of the PojoCache
as a workaround, but this creates other issues, such as that changes on objects
do not get propagated to other servers in the cluster.

Thanks for your time and help.

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Deadlock problem with JBossCache

2007-09-25 Thread ranous
I'm using JBossCache 1.4.1SP4 embedded into a server based application (ie, not
using JBoss App Server). We recently saw a problem that lead to all updates to
the cache to fail.

We're running two servers with each server running JBossCache with replication
and each server has their own cacheloader configured for a local cache loader
using the BdbjeCacheLoader.

Everything was running fine for some time with many updates when we got an
exception when trying to commit a transaction:

change it, or change the default? The latter requires a source change and

[jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - Re: JBoss AS Freezes with 99.9% CPU After 1 Hour in Producti

2007-09-25 Thread PeterJ
It is normal for many threads to be blocked, that just means they are not using
the cpu at this time.

I am somewhat concerned with the "(Interpreted frame)" text on each method in
the stack trace for the threads. I think that might mean that you are running
an interpreter, instead of using the just-in-time compiler to get compiled
code. I would have to research this more to be sure. What is the command line
used to start the app server? Looks like your are giving the JVM free reign to
resize the heap as necessary. I usually prefer setting specific heap sizes with
min=max; usually heap of 1200MB and newsize of 300MB is a good starting point
for tuning.

Other than that, I don't see anything that jumps out at me. Looks like most
threads are waiting for something to do (you must be using Apache as a front
end, considering the number of AjpProcessor entries; and it looks like some
Oracle calls are in progress). You should take multiple thread dumps and
compare the threads from each dump.

thx for the feedback.

we are creating a Java version of existing C#/ASP.NET use cases using Seam. we
are going to use the existing sprocs first and then convert them to
pseudo-code/logic and use JPA entity beans from there.

[jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Use TomcatClusteringCache or create my own cache service

2007-09-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It's better to use your own cache. You could possibly get away with using the
TomcatClusteringCache, but we basically regard that cache as ours to do with as
we will, so if you use it you could have upgrade issues later.

(BTW, the TomcatClusteringCache is also used for distributable web session
replication.)

2007-09-25 Thread PeterJ
Are you able to take a thread dump, and if so what does it show? Note that you
might have to take multiple dumps to pinpoint the problem.

Last time I looked into a problem similar to this it turned out that with one
of the deployed applications, if you did a specific sequence of requests, it
would go into an infinite loop. It took getting only 3 requests in that state
to get the processor up to 99% busy.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: multiple calls to same method from

2007-09-25 Thread fhh
Why don't you use:

a.) Datasources. Opening connections is an expensive operation.

b.) Use a SELECT statement instead of a call to a stored procedure if you want
to retrieve data.

c.) @Factory for choices?

d.) Use entities and to create select items.

e.) Use Hibernate caching to avoid db roundtrips.

f.) Use Seam's query object to retrieve a filtered list of entities.

No offense, but if your requirements are totally different from the "Seam way
of doing things" (TM) you will propably be better off without it.

Regards

Felix

[jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Use TomcatClusteringCache or create my own cache service?

2007-09-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I need to share a small amount of data between members of my JBoss cluster, and
I think a JBossCache instance will do the trick. Is it better to use the
already existing TomcatClusteringCache used by the ClusteredSingleSignOn valve
or to create my own JBossCache MBean service instead?

We are basically just using a remote procedure call (XMLRPC at the moment) to
write a small packet of data about a user being redirected into JBoss from a
legacy system so they can be logged in automatically when the legacy system
forwards them to JBoss.

I'd just be using the JBossCache as a distributed hash map so that the user can
pick up their information packet regardless of which member of the cluster they
are directed to.

Thanks in advance,
~Matt

I solved the XML Parsing Error. It was due to one of the xhtml file being
included from template.xhtml. Header for included files seems to have changed,
see header of conversations.xhtml in the jpa example in seam2 and seam1.2.1.
Perhaps it should be documented in seam 2 migration guide.

and i constantly get such Exception :

As far as i know if query returns no results it should return null ... so how

[jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - JBoss AS Freezes with 99.9% CPU After 1 Hour in Production

2007-09-25 Thread gudmundsonsc
I am having a difficult time figuring out the cause of this. I recently
installed jboss 4.2.1.GA jdk 1.5.0_11 on linux. We have 3 servers running
4.0.5.GA and now 3 new servers with 4.2.1.GA.

Only on the 4.2.1.GA servers after an hour of web traffic, the java CPU
utilization in top shows 99.9% and JBoss tomcat :8080 and :8009 ports are not
responsive.

Once in this state I cannot run the listThreadCpuUtilization MBean operation to
see what thread is taking up the most cpu.

I have attached jmap and jstack outputs to this post. Can you help me figure
out what thread might be the source of the problem? Is it normal to see so
many threads state = BLOCKED? Any ideas?

Since I pasted in My Bean i have question :

newUser Entity is Event scoped and is bound to a form that has register(User

The thing is newUser is always null - my question is why ? Dosent the JSF
values get Bound to entity before invoking a register Action so that injected
parameter is meaningful ? or is it about the Scupe of newUser entity ?

Well, change:

  |
  |

to:

  |
  |

where foo1 is the name of your ear file. Be sure to change that when your ear
file changes. The @...@ you saw before was a filter token used by
seam-gen. What is does is automatically plugs in the name of the ear
automatically using ant. You can manually manage it or revert it back. Your
call.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Seam 2 CR1 upgrade issues

2007-09-25 Thread seamdev
On upgrading to Seam2 CR1, I am facing following 2 issues:

Getting following message on application startup:

  | INFO: JSF1027: [null] The ELResolvers for JSF were not registered with the
JSP container.
  |
What is it supposed to mean? How should I fix it?

Seam is generating invalid html response pages. Firefox gives following error:

  | XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
  | Location: http://localhost:7001/myproj/main.seam?cid=2
  | Line Number 190, Column 9:http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"; >

  |

This page worked fine with seam 1.2.1ga. Is migration guide missing something
about pages that depend on template.xhtml?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Is it to late to get this CRITICAL feature in before the off

2007-09-25 Thread dhinojosa
I really really need this feature in. I would like to specify actions with
parameters in the page element of pages.xml. Please take a look at my code
snippet below, where I have commented "Man o' man, I would love to do this".
Currently you can specify actions per page to run before the page becomes
available, but you cannot specify any parameters, and I would really like to
set those.

BTW, this would have nothing to do with a RESTful page, this just to have
certain state in my beans before rendering the page.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Swimlane vs Actors

2007-09-25 Thread neuquino
Hello, I need to know which is the difference between swimlane and actor. I was
using jPDL 3.1 and I've just passed to 3.2. What I understood from the docs is
that the Swimlane is a kind of role (or company position) and Actor is a
particular user (or company employ). If what I understood is ok, Where do I
have to define the actors? I mean, how the engine know which is the current
actor?
Thanks,
Regards,
Neuquino

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Could not instantiate Seam component :/

2007-09-25 Thread Yacho
OK so heres another problem i stumbled upon :

i Have statefull Session bean that defines my component

even trough it deploys ok and its loaded :
anonymous wrote : 21:44:43,625 INFO [Component] Component: userManager, scope:
EVENT, type: STATEFUL_SESSION_BEAN, class: sessionbeans.UserManagerBean, JNDI:

My Session Bean looks like this :
@Stateful
  | @Name("userManager")
  | @Scope(EVENT)
  |
  | public class UserManagerBean implements UserManager, Serializable {
  |
  | @PersistenceContext
  | EntityManager em;
  |
  | @In
  | public String register(User newUser) {
  | User existing = (User) em.createQuery("from User where
username={#newUser.username} and passwd={#newUser.passwd}").getSingleResult();
  |
  | if (existing != null) {

  |
  | return "registered";
  | } else {
  | return null;
  | }
  |
  | }
  | @Remove
  | public void destroy() {}

It Seems to be ok - so wheres the fuss ?
is the JNDI path correct ? because im a bit confused about the slashes :/

you can deploy each separately or package them both in an EAR and deploy the

  | public void init()

  | public void setJbpmConfiguration(JbpmConfiguration configuration)

  | name = newName;
  | }
  | public void setNbrOfThreads(int value) {

2007-09-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Normally the reason for a action not being executed is that there have been
failures in one of the JSF phases and you've forgotten to output JSF errors
using h:messages. Of course you don't get this using s:button as it doesn't
submit the form.

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - 2 instances running on the same server

2007-09-25 Thread pmohanan
Hi...

  I have to run 2 instances of the app server on the same machine. I modified
the server.xml for one of the app to point to port 9090. Still the 2 app server
throws lot of exceptions as there are other port numbers that conflicts with
the 1st app server.

What changes do I have to make to have the 2nd app up & running?

Regards,

Praveen Mohanan

Hi,
I have tried to configure JobExecutor in Spring as below:

but I get the exception property jbpmConfiguration,nbrOfThreads,idleInterval
etc are not writable in JobExecutor since there are no setter methods for those
properties.

Is there any alternative to getting this working. configuring JobExecutor?

Thanks

That is a different story. All hbm files are generated by Hibernate Tools with
corresponding POJOs. So they are spread around POJO code rather than in a fixed
hbm folder. It is easy for developer to locate POJO-HBM pair.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - s:decorate input control ID change from 1.2 to 2.0

2007-09-25 Thread tynor
I reported a Seam2 bug to Richfaces that turned out to be a Seam bug
and apparently already fixed in CVS
(http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-1947)
(thanks Sergey and Pete!)

I have a related question: another change in JSF ID names have broken our
selenium test and many of our Javascript functions which refer to input
controls by ID.

Given something like:

  |Foo
  |
  |

In Seam1.2.1, the control was addressable as "fooForm:foo". In Seam2, that has
changed and we must address it as "fooForm:fooDecoration:foo".

Is this intentional? Is it likely to change before 2.0.0GA?

Thanks!

Ah, ok, gotcha.  My bad.

However, I don't think you'd need to modify EntityHome to get that kind of
behavior.  You could do

  | class PersonHome extends EntityHome< Person > {
  |public PersonHome() {
  |   setEntityClass(Person.class);

right?
