2008-11-10 Thread kukeltje
both are valid options. In the case of using an mdb, you also have to configure
a queue, deploy the mdb etc, write a actionhandler that puts the message in the
queue. When using async nodes this is done for you. You have less control in
the latter situation about priorities etc...

2008-11-10 Thread den74
Hi,
i am evalueting to upgrade from jbp 2.4.3 to jbp 2.7 but i would like to know
if my old environment will be supported.

I see this page http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-10721 but it is not
updated for last B4 version of portlet bridge.

What i need to know is if with this Beta4 bridge i can use portlet with:
- JSP (no facelets)
- last richfaces 3.2.2GA
- jsf 1.2

I found just a facelets example, anyone can address a jsp example too?
thanks in advance

[jboss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - How to programmatically create datasource

2008-11-10 Thread johannes.zlattinger
Hi all,

I know that this topic has been discussed in
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4175631#4175631 and
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4129581#4129581.

Therefore I know that there are several possibilities to create a datasource.
The problem is that I don't know where to start when trying to create a
datasource using MBeans directly.
Could somebody give me a hint? No matter if it is some source file or some
internet resources. I will be thankful for every advice. :-)

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
johannes

How are you doing, just to appreciate you invaluable assistance. Yes changing
the installation of jboss from jboss from 4.2.3-GA-jdk 6 to jboss from 4.2.3-GA
solves the problem though running jboss-seam 2.1.0 on it throws the following
issues

An error has occurred while processing the Maven artifact tasks.
Diagnosis:
Unable to resolve artifact: Missing:
--
1) javax.xml.bind:jaxb-api:jar:2.1
Try downloading the file manually from the project website.
Then, install it using the command:
mvn install:install-file -DgroupId=javax.xml.bind -DartifactId=jaxb-api
-Dversion=2.1 -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file
Alternatively, if you host your own repository you can deploy the file there:
mvn deploy  eploy-file -DgroupId=javax.xml.bind -DartifactId=jaxb-api
-Dversion=2.1 -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file -Durl=[url]
-DrepositoryId=[id]
Path to dependency:

2) javax.xml.bind:jaxb-api:jar:2.1

for artifact:
org.apache.maven:super-pom:jar:2.0. blah blah
changing the jboss-seam installation to jboss-seam-2.1.0.SP1.tar solves the
problem. Thank you so very much.

Have a bug free week

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - newbie: looking to implement an old POJO client

2008-11-10 Thread luigiexp
HI,
I'm sorry but I wasn't able to find any answer about my problem.
I'm a newbie to Jboss and JBPM so I'm going around without any success.
I installed everything and I deployed some example succesffully. Now my next
level is to try to implement a POJO client able to connect to the server and
retrieve information about active processes and tasks (and even to interact
with them).
Is there some easy way to do it?
Where I can find docs to solve this problem? I even read about some WS
implementation but API could be enough for my case, where I can find some code
example? Should I connect to the DB to retrieve this information or I can query
it to the server itself?
Any link or advice?
Hoping that my answer aren't too foolish...
Thank you in advance!

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Replacing the logic that returns the corrospoding WS java ob

2008-11-10 Thread yanivc24
Hi

I am new to JbossWS, I have to say that I very much relate to the message
posted at :
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopict=145268
I really feel frustrated. all the given documentation is unstructured properly.
and many assumptions are made on the reader without specifying prior knowledge
requirements.

Anyhow, What I'd like to achieve is to be able to have the WS layer instantiate
beans that reside on a remote server in order to invoke the required java
methods
I am wondering if there is a class or an interface that I can replace to
implement only the logic that returns the required java object to preform the
WS opertation. I will implement that class such that is will return remote bean
proxy objects.

I hope I made my question clear.

Many Thanks,

Yaniv

I, too, have followed the steps described in

So upgrading to newer versions might not be a guarantee for success, either :-/

If you are trying to do something simple you can include the jbpm-jpdl-xx.jar

I manage to activate that filter from my stateless session bean by casting my
EntityManager to a Hibernate session and then calling session.setFilter().

However, I would like to have that filter set for ALL EntityManagers that are
injected into my session beans.

I presume I would have to configure the Hibernate SessionFactory in some way to
return the sessions with the filters enabled already.

Does anyone have a good pointer for me?

I am very thankful for any kind of help ;-)

Thanks,
Dennis

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: Cannot build bottom up web service in eclipse using JBos

2008-11-10 Thread newmanw10
Thanks for the response. I have auto build turned on in Eclipse so I do have
the class built. I did double check though.

Plus it is not really warning me about a specific class, i.e. it never really
said cannot find class 'Hello', it said cannot load class [and], that is a
little weird. I really think that I do not have something setup correctly in
Eclipse to use JBoss WS correctly.

Any more ideas?

Thanks again.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: JBoss Tools support for Richfaces 3.2.2 in XHTML files

2008-11-10 Thread mike.baum
Max,

Sorry I should have been more specific. The issue is that within Eclipse, the
new components that are included in v. 3.2.2.GA release of the richfaces
library are not accessible for code completion nor are they visible in the VPE
Editor or the JBoss Tools Palette.

Another person suggested that I need to update the TLD files to replace 3.2.1
for 3.2.2 as follows:

change:
tlib-version3.2.1/tlib-version

to:
tlib-version3.2.2/tlib-version

in richfaces-ui.jar/META-INF/*.tld files

I did this and it had no effect. Anyway, any help on this matter would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

almost all the testcases in the source use jBPM from a pojo as an embedded
library. If you deploy jBPM (on an appserver) and you want to remotely interact
with it, use the commandservice (ejb). The webservice 'api' is kind of similar
as the commandservice but with the advantages of being transactional. Not sure
how mature the ws-api is btw...

[jboss-user] [Remoting] - Using proxy for localhost

2008-11-10 Thread mproch
Hello,
I have a question about http proxies with jboss remoting.
I am enabling http proxy (running on my localhost) by setting system
properties:

  | -DproxySet=true -Dhttp.proxyHost=localhost -Dhttp.proxyPort=8081
  |
It works fine, unless I want to access localhost/127.0.0.1 - then the proxy is
not used.

  | InvokerLocator clientLocator = new
InvokerLocator(http://host:8080/sth);
  | Client client = new Client(clientLocator);
  | client.connect();
  | client.invoke(stupidTestString);
  |
  |
When I replace 'host' with 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1' - the proxy is not used.
If I replace it with 'ws' - which has entry in my etc/hosts file pointing to
127.0.0.1 - the proxy is used...

Is it desired behaviour - and if so, can I change it (i.e. so that connection
to 'localhost' uses proxy)?

thx

Yes, if you want to have robustness you should use JMS instead of the internal

Shouldn't this be added to the server that is sending the response instead? If
I need to add it to the server with the web application that is issuing the
request, shoudl I create a text web.config file in the /my_webapp/t folder?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - JBoss Messaging 2.0 Monitoring (JMX)

2008-11-10 Thread luis.miranda
Hello,

Is it possible to use JMX for monitoring JBM 2.0 (standalone)? I've embedded
JBM into my application (Spring, Jencks, JMSJCA) but I can't seem to view the
JBM MBeans (I can see other MBeans under jconsole).

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Thanks,

2008-11-10 Thread salaboy21
The page that you mention talk about the new Public API's for jBPM.
If you want to look for processInstances by ID you should use the next method:

  | JbpmContext.getProcessInstance(long processInstanceId)
  | gets a process instance from the db.
  |
Look in the official documentation:
http://docs.jboss.org/jbpm/v3/javadoc/org/jbpm/JbpmContext.html

Hi!
I have a process that calls external web-service. I added this web-service to

I built a process using Eclipse Bpel pluging. And in the end of building I had

How can I deploy my process on the JBoss using these three files?

I tried to put them to the .zip and then deploy with

(It should be all).

The problem is that i cannot see th EJB deployed neither bind to JMS queue.
But if i try to deploy the whole EAR without the util1.jar and util2.jar (also
removing from manifest.mf) the EJB deploy correctly and bind to jms quee too.
Also, the EAR and EJB works correctly if i deploy the archive as an exploded
package (also the myEjb.jar).

The picture was not so clear so i decided to debug the JARDeployer, and i
notice that the problem is in those lines:

  |  // Since a META-INF directory exists within rt.jar, we can't just
do a
  | // getResource (it will always return rt.jar's version).
  | // The method we want is findResource, but it is marked protected
in
  | // ClassLoader. Fortunately, URLClassLoader exposes it which makes
  | // this hack possible. Anybody have a better way to check a URL
  |  // for the existance of a META-INF??
  |  URL ddDir;
  |  try
  |  {
  | ddDir = di.localCl.findResource(META-INF/);
  | if (ddDir == null)
  | {
  |log.debug(No META-INF or WEB-INF resource found, assuming
it if for us);
  |return true;
  | }
  |  }
  |  catch (ClassCastException e)
  |  {
  |  // assume there is a META-INF...
  |  ddDir = new URL(di.url, META-INF/);
  |  }
  |

The deployer (better, the classloader) cannot access META-INF of myEJB.jar in
the temp deploy directory.

The question is: WHY?

Where am I wrong?

Could you help me?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Antonio

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Using pooled actors in a mail template?

2008-11-10 Thread ClayM
I'm running into a small problem here...

I've got a task node set with notify=true.

The task is assigned to a swimlane, which has a set of pooled actors.

As far as I can tell, the AssignmentHandler is setting those actors properly.

When I try to use those pooled actors in my mail template, I'm getting a

ClassCastException: java.util.HashSet cannot be cast to java.lang.String

My template is doing this:

#{taskInstance.pooledActors}

Am I doing something wrong?

My first attempt was in that direction. I tried doing it using JbpmContext but
it seems I'm not able to connect to server/DB, I mean I'm only able to use a

Maybe it is possible to configure the right context by configuring the

it. do you know where I can find some example?
thank you

[jboss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Problems Getting HTTP Response

2008-11-10 Thread ramboid
Thank you Wolfgang,
The server that runs PBSITest is a remote server, running a webservice. Hence,
I lack control upon its configuration. I am trying to use the webservice from
a JBoss web application, running in my server.

I think that this is an internal error of the remote webservice and the
instructions are for the remote server; not the client

I believe that the remote webservice is an aspx running in a Windows box,
perhaps IIS.

Hello, everybody!

I've just noticed a big problem in the web application I'm developing. In this
application I'm using the FORM authentication method as you can see below in
the web.xml file:

  security-constraint

  | web-resource-namepermitido/web-resource-name
  | url-pattern/*/url-pattern
  | /web-resource-collection

  | web-resource-collection
  | web-resource-namerestrito/web-resource-name
  | url-pattern/confirmacaoreserva.jsp/url-pattern
  | url-pattern/confirmacaoreserva.faces/url-pattern
  | url-pattern/reservaconfirmada.jsp/url-pattern
  | url-pattern/reservaconfirmada.faces/url-pattern
  | /web-resource-collection
  | auth-constraint
  | role-nameADMINISTRADOR/role-name
  | role-nameUSUARIO/role-name
  | /auth-constraint
  | user-data-constraint
  | transport-guaranteeNONE/transport-guarantee
  | /user-data-constraint
  |   /security-constraint
  |
  |   login-config
  | auth-methodFORM/auth-method
  | form-login-config

  |   security-role
  | role-nameADMINISTRADOR/role-name
  |   /security-role
  |   security-role
  | role-nameUSUARIO/role-name
  |   /security-role

If I type in the browser's address field any of the protected pages,
confirmacaoreserva.faces or reservaconfirmada.faces, the web container
redirects me to the login page as expected, as I was'n authenticated yet. Until
till this point everything is working without problem. But I noticed, to my
surprise, that when I click on a link in a web page like this:

h:commandLink value=#{msg.reservar} action=#{materiais.reservarMaterial}
  | f:setPropertyActionListener target=#{materiais.codigoMaterial}
value=#{material.codigo} /
  | /h:commandLink

// in the backing bean
  | public String reservarMaterial()
  | {
  | // some processing...
  | return confirmacaoReserva;
  | }

// in faces-config.xml
  | navigation-rule
  | navigation-case
  | from-outcomeconfirmacaoReserva/from-outcome
  | to-view-id/confirmacaoreserva.jsp/to-view-id
  | /navigation-case
  | /navigation-rule

it completely by-passes the web container authentication and redirects me to
the protected page (confirmacaoreserva) without asking me first to authenticate
in the login page. Of course this is unacceptable. It seems like JSF is
completely ignoring the security configuration defined in web.xml. As I said
above, when I access the protected pages through the browser's address field,
the authentication mechanism works well, redirecting me to the login page.

So, how can I solve this? How do I fix this problem?

Thank you.

Marcos

I was going to say that using /tmp as a deploy directory is probably a bad

For JBossAS 4.2.x, I have found that it is sufficient to use the classes
defined in wsrunclient along with jbossall-client.jar.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: newbie: looking to implement an old POJO client

2008-11-10 Thread salaboy21
Yes.. of course, you need to configure the hibernate.cfg.xml file to connect to
you database that have the jBPM schema. You can do that in the following way,
if you are in a standalone application with a postgreSQL DB:

  |   !-- hibernate dialect --
  | property
name=hibernate.dialectorg.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect/property
  |
  | !-- JDBC connection properties (begin) --
  | property
name=hibernate.connection.driver_classorg.postgresql.Driver/property
  | property
name=hibernate.connection.urljdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/jbpm/property
  | property name=hibernate.connection.usernameuser/property
  | property name=hibernate.connection.passwordpassword/property
  | !-- JDBC connection properties (end) --
  |

In the case that you are using jBPM in an Application Server you could look in
my post:
http://salaboy.wordpress.com/2008/08/26/jugando-con-jbpm-9-cambiando-de-datasource/

Which version of JBoss Portal are you using? My experiences with 2.4.x and

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Problem: jBPM + JTA

2008-11-10 Thread jblas
Hi mates,

 I am using JBoss 4.0.5 with jBPM 3.1.2 and my problem is about Java
Transaction Api.
 I configure hibernate.cfg.cml inside jbpm.sar and it works fine. But when I
try to do stress tests JNDI says Hibernate Exception: cannot open connection.
There is no exception in Oracle, so the problem is in Hibernta/JNDI pooling
connections.

 I use oracle-ds.xml configuration file. do I need xa confguration?

 If I change to use apache DBCP, i have problems with JTA. It works fine, but
when the process finishes, it crashes not allowing to commit transactions.

 Any ideas ?

Hi,

I have a timer bean and I want it to read some configuration from a file. I
package the file in the ear (copied to under the META-INF directory).

In the timer I want to read this file but I can't figure out how to resolve
the temporary deployment directoy that it is copied to by the container in
jboss.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or the correct way to get at files packaged
in the ear file?

I agree with this statement. Look at your first post, and then at your second.
In the second post you suddenly throw in a lot of information (php and .net

first question that comes to my mind is: what else are you not telling us? It
is hard to help someone when they have not provided all of the information
necessary to provide an answer.

Perhaps a complete example of what you are hoping to achieve and what you are
seeing instead would help.

Hi,

I have tried to package jboss-common.jar in my application A and configured

Jboss 4.2.2' classes are compiled on Java 1.5 and Jboss 3.2.5 runs on Java 1.4.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: Error creating Seam 2.1.0 SP1 Web Project with Tools 3 b

2008-11-10 Thread elenctic87
I am 100% sure I'm using Ganymede (info from Help-About Eclipse: Eclipse
Platform, Version: 3.4.1, Build id: M20080911-1700).

I tried creating a new Seam Web Project using the Configuration settings of
Dynamic Web Project with Seam 2.0. This does not include JPA. I still get a
NullPointerException. There is no verbose exception information on the linux
shell console from which I started eclipse, however. I just tried again to
create a Seam 2.0 project with JPA support and all I got was the
NullPointerException (no verbose exception output this time.)

What other info can I give you to help solve this? I am doing something really
basic and running into this error. With WebTools 3.0 alpha 1 and this exact
version of eclipse I did not run into this error. (Mind you, I'm not mixing
alpha1 install with beta1 install, I started from a fresh eclipse).

[jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Cache locking issue after one node of the cluster is res

2008-11-10 Thread michalkozakiewicz
Hi Manik,
thank you for you reply.

Unfortunately this specific issue is not reproducible. However we are seeing
other TimeoutException's (which are displayed as warnings in the log) causing
transaction rollbacks.

In the case below, since the transaction is rolled back in
ServletContextListener (LoadTimer) the web app fails to deploy.

I'll be getting more exception examples and posting them here.

This seems to happen only under load, if you need any more info, I ll be happy
to provide it.

Thanks for your help.

[jboss-user] [JNDI/Naming/Network] - lookup EJB3-beans on JBoss from Eclipse RAP

2008-11-10 Thread sandello
I have a project consists two parts: RAP-based web UI part and
EJB3-server part. Second path consists 23 EJB3-application. All works
fine. The UI-part successfully interact with server-part.

Now I need to add some functionality which interact with other ejb3
application on the same server. I create a simple action:

new Action(){
  |   @Override
  |   public void run() {
  | Logger debugger = Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()); //Log4j logger
  | String DEBUG_STR = run: ;
  | debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + start);

  |   forName =

  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + forName);
  |   forName =
  | Class.forName(com.company.docprint.as.mngrs.DocTypeManagerBean);
  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + forName);
  |   forName = Class.forName(org.jboss.ejb3.JBossProxy);
  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + forName);
  |   forName = Class.forName(javax.ejb.EJBObject);
  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + forName);
  |   forName = Class.forName(javax.ejb.EJBAccessException);
  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + forName);
  |
  |   Properties props = new Properties();
  |   props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
org.jboss.naming.NamingContextFactory);
  |   props.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES,
org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces);
  |   props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, jnp://localhost:1099);
  |
  |   Context ctx = new InitialContext(props);
  |   Context c0 = (Context) ctx.lookup(DocManagerBean/remote);
//throws exception
  |   // Context c0 = (Context) ctx.lookup(AbonentServer/remote); //
works fine
  | }
  | catch (Exception e) {
  |   debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + e, e);
  |
  | }
  | debugger.debug(DEBUG_STR + stop);
  |   }
  |
  | }
  |
  |
A exception occurs when I try to run this code fragment from
RAP-application.
If I change

Context c0 = (Context) ctx.lookup(DocManagerBean/remote);
  |
to

  | Context c0 = (Context) ctx.lookup(AbonentServer/remote);
  |
all works fine. The AbonentServer is the EJB3 from old server-part.
If I run the code fragment from JUnit test case - all works fine.

[jboss-user] [JNDI/Naming/Network] - Re: Lookup error [Jboss 3.2.5 4.2.2]

2008-11-10 Thread PeterJ
You have one of two choices:

a) One is to recompile the files on jboss-common.jar with the 1.4 compiler. You
probably do not need all of the classes, just the ones you need to make the EJB
calls.

b) Run 3.2.5 with JDK 1.5

I would try option b first, and if that does not work, then option a.

[jboss-user] [Microcontainer] - Classloading docs?

2008-11-10 Thread emmartins
Is there a doc regarding MC class loaders, similar to this one -
http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-10290 ?

We need to create class loaders for javassist generated classes, for jboss AS
4.x  it was like this:

UnifiedClassLoader ucl = (UnifiedClassLoader) Thread
   .currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
   UnifiedLoaderRepository3 lr = (UnifiedLoaderRepository3) ucl
   .getLoaderRepository();
   RepositoryClassLoader cl = lr.newClassLoader(
   getTempClassDeploymentDir().toURL(), new File(
   getUnitJarFile().getName()).toURL(), true);

Now the context class loader is a BaseClassLoader and looking at that object
through debug I don't find something similar as the old repository :-)

Thanks in advance,
Eduardo

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: replacement of REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL when using annota

2008-11-10 Thread will.tatam
PeterJ:

If you re-read my first post, you will see that i already explained that some
of our jboss servers are directly accessible and some are not.

This means that for the servers that are directly accessible, using the
${jboss.bind.address} is a reasonable guess when trying to construct the full
url for the soap address.

For example

http://123.123.123.123:8080/myapp/mySoapService

or if @WebContext(transportGuarantee=CONFIDENTIAL) then jboss will guess

https://123.123.123.123:8443/myapp/mySoapService

Now, as I have already stated this is not applicable for all servers. If a
jboss server is behind a firewall then the bind address might not be publicly
accessible.

This leaves a bit of an issue, if you leave true then you would end up with an
address like

https://192.168.1.123:8443/myapp/mySoapService

which is unless unless your clients have a VPN in place, in which case the
firewall is redundant as you would be side-stepping the firewall by using the
VPN tunnel to get behind it !!

The old way was use false. If this by itself then just breaks your service as
your wsdl now just contains the litteral value REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL. To get
round this, we had modified our build system so when building copies of our app
that were destined for use on our servers that are not directly accessible, we
used to replace the REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL with the correct address as
compilation time. We are happy to continue with this model, but are unable to
as we have yet to find a way to effect the construction of the soap address
within the wsdl that is created at runtime

What client code is being used to consume a given web service is irrelevant as
when consuming a soap webservice you need wsdl that defines a url for it to
actually perform a given action, which if it it contains a private ip, as per
RFC1918 is not going to be much use to you unless you are also inside the same
address space. Also the fact that our firewall is infact a SSL off-loader is
again irrelevant to the construction of the URL

I have found very little in the way of documentation for the virtualHosts
option, but this is in effect what we want to define as it is the host part of
the url we wish to override (we already use the context to set the filepath
aspect of the url)

Can anyone spread any further light on virtualHosts and confirm (or deny) if
JBoss AS 4.2.3 supports it's usage ?

I think that the difference between the tool and the command line is that I can
set the hibernate.default_schema property in my build.properties file.
How can I specify that in Eclipse?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Could you precise what your producer configuration is? Also, could attach the
relevant SOAP messages to see what's going on?
Any particular reason why you are using Portal 2.6.7 and not Portal 2.7?
