Sorry about that Dan :(

Not trying to justify but for some reason it got assigned to the wrong
component CMS, so to the wrong person and also classified as "optional".

Hopefully this won't happen again and we won't loose any contribution anymore.

Thanks

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - jboss with website root which sits deep in the app

2008-11-26 Thread down7ime
Hey Guys,

Have an odd problem with my coldfusion web app which im trying to run under
apache and jboss.

So far i have apache successfully redirecting requests, jboss and coldfusion
seem to working fine together, my problem is that the web application root is
not actually in the deployment directory but a few folders below that, for eg.

/ - deployment directory
/project/site/root - my app root

now the structure is like this due to the framework that im using, is there a
way to setup jboss so that the application root is a few directories below the
deployment directory?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

2008-11-26 Thread jlashmet
So I found the answer here:

http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-12519

I guess at some points, JBoss returns different addresses to the client which
it then uses to make different connections. My setup was returning my internal
192.168.1.2 address, so these were not working. The solution was to change
some configuration to return my WAN IP instead of my internal one. However,
now I can't connect from any computer on my network. Anyone know how to
configure JBoss so it is accessible both behind and outside a firewall?

Oh wait, you downloaded neither but got it from another site - is that what you
meant by your slackware comment?. If so, most likely they are packaging only
the JDK 5 version. Therefore, try using JDK 5.

[jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - Re: JBoss 4.3 start up time information

2008-11-26 Thread PeterJ
The problem is with either:

a) the operating system - Windows tends to let processes run full speed, some
other operating systems, however, throttle back processes so that they do not
use up all of the processing power. I do not know if the Sun Fire does this,
but it is worth looking into.

b) disk speeds - slower disks will cause longer start-ip times, but not as much
as you are reporting, so I would not think this is the issue

c) the JVM - there could something that the JVM is doing that is causing the
slow startup. Considering that Sun makes Sun Fire and the JVM that runs on it,
I would be surprised if this is the case. But stranger things have happened.

I suggest you ask Sun why their hardware or JVM is so slow.

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Jboss with multiple networks

2008-11-26 Thread noelo
Hi,
This may be a dumb question, but humour me anyway please.
I have a question regarding setting up a EAP 4.3 cluster node using multiple
networks.
Assuming the server is connected to a number of networks, a public one for
incoming http traffic, 192.168.10/24 for database traffic and a 10.10.10/24 for
cluster traffic.

When starting up the EAP instance do I just startup the server to listen on
each nic i.e. -b 0.0.0.0 or do I need to edit the relevant config files to
point to each network i.e. tomcat's server.xml, jboss-service.xml for
clustering etc,etc.

thanks for your help
Noel

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: .ear priority deployment

2008-11-26 Thread benoitx
Hi All,

I have a similar problem, I'm trying to get a Quartz MBean setup and get it to
deploy AFTER my ear application (the Jobs classes are included in my ear file).

How could I do this?

Using this dependency does not work
jboss.j2ee:service=EARDeployer

As it seems to be completed before the app is actually deployed.

I even tried 3 dependencies:
jboss.ejb:service=EJBDeployer
  | jboss.jca:service=DataSourceBinding,name=QuartzDS
  | jboss.j2ee:service=EARDeployer

But same problem, it looks like Quartz is launched before the ear is fully
deployed...

Any pointer/solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Benoit

Thanks for info on location of the .cfg.xml files. The issue was in
portal-oracle-ds.xml. Having noticed there are two places to provide un/pw, I
eliminated the un/pw in the connection-url line. And that somehow triggered
the 'No such user admin' issue. Don't know how. Obviously this is some kind
of a very minor bug that trips users who tend to think on "why two places to
specify un/pw in portal-oracle-ds.xml?" and do cut short the connection-url
line by eliminating the un/pw in it, as there is explicit mention of it in the
user-name and password lines. Treating this as a closed issue from my end.
Thanks for all the help and support by way of very valuable info/insight.

[jboss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Problem with transaction management.

2008-11-26 Thread trouby
Hey,

I have a stateless EJB3 class that configured with a timer,

When the timer times out, it invokes several methods,
At the end, it perform some modifications via EntityManager and commits the
transaction,

My problem is that in the middle of that long running method that times out, I
have a some 'plugins' that loads other EJBs via the InitialContext,

When one of the methods in the loaded EJBs throw exception, it seems like the
container rollback the transaction,

When the failure thrown to the original method and tries to perform some
modifications in the database via EntityManager, I get the following error:

  | 23:13:38,858 ERROR [TimerImpl] Error invoking
ejbTimeout:javax.ejb.EJBException:
javax.persistence.TransactionRequiredException: Entity
  | Manager must be access within a transaction
  |

If non of the internal ejbs throw exceptions everything works properly and the
long running method succeed to perform database modifications

I guess nested transactions are not supported, is there any other way to handle
such a situation?

Thanks in advanced,

Asaf.

Yeah,
Probably because it involves of creating tables, so Hibernate commits it just
after,

Well, I'll find another solution it's not a big deal, I just wanted to make
sure that this is only for the schema related functionality and JBPM is not
going to manage the transactions by itself when dealing with processes:-)

Thanks a lot, Salaboy! :-)

I'm also very familiar with this code, but also seem logical that the creation
of the database needs to be persisted inmediately.
I don't think that is probable solution to call createSchema() inside CMT.

Hey,

Not that I'm very familiar with JBPM's source code but here's the code of
createSchema:

  | public void createSchema(String jbpmContextName) {
  | JbpmContext jbpmContext = createJbpmContext(jbpmContextName);
  | try {
  |   Services services = jbpmContext.getServices();
  |   DbPersistenceServiceFactory persistenceServiceFactory =
(DbPersistenceServiceFactory)
services.getServiceFactory(Services.SERVICENAME_PERSISTENCE);
  |   persistenceServiceFactory.createSchema();
  | } finally {
  |   jbpmContext.close();
  | }
  |   }
  |

I didn't see any JBPM code that commits the transaction, seems like
persistenceServiceFactory.createSchema(); invokes the schema creation via
Hibernate's SchemaExport class which probably somewhere perform the commit by
itself,

I didn't go to deep but if somone is familiar with it then I'll be glad for a
solution,

Otherwise, I'll try to invoke the method over a non-CMT,

Thanks a lot :)

[jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - JBoss 4.3 start up time information

2008-11-26 Thread chiewming
Hi All,

My customer bought a Sun Fire T5120 and he is complaining the JBoss startup
time is very slow comparing to their 4 core Xeon.

Setup as below:

Platform : T5120
Core : 4 (8 Threads each core)
RAM : 8GB
JBOSS : 4.3
Java : 1.5.0.15
Java : -Dprogram.name=run.sh  -server -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=360 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=360
-Dsun.lang.ClassLoader.allowArraySyntax=true -verbose:gc

Bootup time need for JBoss as below (pure JBoss without any other apps in JBoss)
Sun Fire T5120(4 cores, 32 threads, 1.2Ghz) == 1m 20s
Sun Fire T2000(6 cores, 24 threads, 1.0Ghz) == 1m 54s
Sun Fire V440  (2 cores,   2 threads, 1.6Ghz) == 54s

Customer tested the boot up time for their Wintel server is far more faster
than our Sun CMT processor server.

Customer unable to migrat their current test app into JBoss to do a load test
due to their company policy.

Tuning for adjusting d heap, GC but boot up time still unacceptable.

I'm here seek for anyone who implemented their JBoss into Sun CMT processor
server like T2000,T5120,T5220... can give me light up regarding their JBoss
boot up time & wil JBoss multithreaded while in load test (runtime
compilation)?

Thank you very much.

I think this is a special case.. because you need to commit in order to see the
table that you have created...
This section in the document, I supose that is for all the other situations.
I must check the code to be sure...

Hey,
Thanks for the quick reply,

I know that, but according to:
7.1.3. Managed transactions in the manual, JBPM can be configured not to commit
transactions at all when jbpmContext.close() is invoked.

This is also described here:
http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-11090

So what causes JBPM to commit the transaction by itself and not leave it to the
container?

Thanks,

Asaf.

No, you can not make a commit if you are under managed transactions, so you can
not create an schema and commit it if you tell your container that handle the
transactions for you.

You must have your schema already generated when you use CMT.

Hope it helps

2008-11-26 Thread trouby
Hey,

I have created a very simple seam component that injects the jbpmContext and
uses it to create the schema, this is the code:

  | @name("workflowManager")
  | public class WorkflowManager {
  |
  | @In
  | private JbpmContext jbpmContext;
  |
  |
  | public void createJbpmSchema() {
  |   jbpmContext.getJbpmConfiguration().createSchema()
  | }
  | }
  |

When invoked, I get the following exception:

  | 21:13:32,867 ERROR [SchemaExport] schema export unsuccessful
  | java.sql.SQLException: You cannot commit during a managed transaction!
  | at
org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.BaseWrapperManagedConnection.jdbcCommit(BaseWrapperManagedConnection.java:581)
  | at
org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.WrappedConnection.commit(WrappedConnection.java:482)
  | at
org.hibernate.tool.hbm2ddl.ManagedProviderConnectionHelper.prepare(ManagedProviderConnectionHelper.java:30)
  | at
org.hibernate.tool.hbm2ddl.SchemaExport.execute(SchemaExport.java:180)
  | at
org.hibernate.tool.hbm2ddl.SchemaExport.create(SchemaExport.java:133)
  | ...
  |

I looked at the source code of the createSchema method,
Seems like it's just invoking jbpmContext.close(); at the end.

My JBPM/hibernate configured in the right way not to start/close a transaction
it didn't start.

What is the reason of the exception?

Thanks,

Asaf.

[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Configure EJB3 Container name in Jboss JMX Console

2008-11-26 Thread joemir
I have a problem and already search in books, internet, but don't find anything
that solve my problem.
The problem is that i make a migration from EJB2 to EJB3 in the application
that i develop, using a remote interface configure with the annotation
@javax.ejb.Remote and a class that representa a Stateles Session Bean that
implementas the remote interface, the simple body that represents a Stateless
Session Bena in the aplications is bellow:

@Stateless(name="PBXServerFacadeBean")
@RemoteBinding(jndiBinding="PBXServerFacadeBean/remote")
public class PBXServerFacadeBean implements PBXServerRemote
{

}

The EJB3 is working without any problem in the application, using the address
in the property jndiBinding, but have a detail that each Session Bean is
loading in JMX Console with the name of ear and the jar name wehre the Sessions
are included, as we can see in example bellow:

ear=basix.ear,jar=ejb-.5.6.4.jar,name=CentrexAdminFacadeBean,service=EJB3

So when a wiil configure the dependencency of the services i need to insert the
entire name of EJB and this is very bad for me, beacause it include the jar
name that have a version, so if a release anotther version of EJB a will need
to change the jboss-service.xml of all services. I would like to know if have a
way to change this name in JMX console and don't include de jar name.

I already made many changes that a see in books and in internet, but i don't
find a solution to change this name in Jboss, if somebody know about his and
can help.

Thanks,

Joemir

[jboss-user] [JNDI/Naming/Network] - Remote JNDI connects locally

2008-11-26 Thread normann
I have a remote session bean running on one JBoss 4.2.3 + JDK 6 server and
would like to connect to it from code running in another JBoss 4.2.3 + JDK 6
server.

My suggestion to doing this is:

Hashtable environment = new Hashtable();
  | environment.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
  | environment.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "org.jboss.naming
rg.jnp.interfaces");
  | environment.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "jnp://192.168.1.10:1099");
  | InitialContext context = new InitialContext(enviroment);
  | Object bar = context.lookup("foo");

Even though I have asked to connect to the JNDI server running at 192.168.1.10
by providing the PROVIDER_URL, the lookup seems to be performed on the JNDI
server running on the same server as the code (i.e. localhost), and therefore
it cannot find what I'm looking for. My conclusion is that PROVIDER_URL is
ignored or that something overrides it.

It think that my setup is very common, and since I can't make it work, there
must be some fundamental thing about JNDI that I don't know about, so please,
could someone enlighten me? Thanks up front. :-)

[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - JBoss AS 4.2.3: Lifecycle event callbacks not invoked?

2008-11-26 Thread d_p_ludwig
Maybe a bug. I'm obersving some strange behaviour regarding the EJB 3 lifecycle
event callbacks in JBoss AS 4.2.3.

I got a simple stateful session bean which declares some lifecycle callback
methods as shown below (simplified):

  | @Stateful
  | public class StatefulSessionLifecycleLoggerImpl implements
MyBusinessInterface {
  |   [...]
  |
  |   /**
  |* [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  |*/
  |   public void businessMethod() {
  |   }
  |
  |   @PostConstruct
  |   private void logPostConstruct() {
  | log.info("[PostConstruct] [" + this.toString() + "]");
  |   }
  |
  | }
  |

When I lookup the bean everything works as expected, the logPostConstruct
method gets called, everthing is fine. Now, when I declare a class-level
interceptor for this bean

  | [...]
  | @Interceptors({MethodInvocationLogger.class})
  | public class StatefulSessionLifecycleLoggerImpl [...]
  |
  |

which also declares a callback method for the "PostConstruct" lifecycle event
(code shown below, simplified)

  | public class MethodInvocationLogger implements Serializable {
  |   [...]
  |
  |   @PostConstruct
  |   public void init(InvocationContext ctx) {
  | [...]
  |   }
  |
  |   @AroundInvoke
  | public Object logMethodInvocation(InvocationContext ctx) throws Exception
{
  | [...]
  |   }
  |
  | }
  |

then things start getting weird. The "PostConstruct" callback on the
MethodInvocationLogger interceptor is being called, but the "PostConstruct"
callback on the actual bean is _not_!!! As far as I understand the EJB
specification both methods must have been called. Is this a bug or am I missing
something?

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - jboss not starting, Slackware unRAID

2008-11-26 Thread assassinmunky
Hey guys,
Im having trouble getting jboss started. I am using a stripped down version of
slackware called unRAID, you can check it out at http://lime-technology.com/ .

I really don't understand the error messages the that I am getting and I was
hoping i can get some help here.

You can check out my log files at:
http://kamil.homeunix.com:83/JBOSS/boot.log
http://kamil.homeunix.com:83/JBOSS/server.log

Please tell i am missing some dependent libraries or something easy like that.

I had apache-tomcat downloaded from a slackware reposotory and that was working
fine, but now i need JBOSS so i removed the apache-tomcat and hoped jboss would
do it's thing, but no luck.

Thanks for your help
Kamil

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: JbpmContext is always null

2008-11-26 Thread salaboy21
this is why you need hibernate.cfg.xml with the correct mappings..
because there is the structure of your process and the data of your instances.

If you create a sample project with eclipse you should see that a
hibernate.cfg.xml is created for you and an empty jbmp.cfg.xml is also created.

If you want to create or use a JbpmContext you need to know where is the
structe of the processDefinitions and the processInstances. For this, of course
that you need to know where and how all the structure are mapped.
So if you also add entities in variables, you need to map it too...

If you are in a standalone app, you will need the same hibernate mappings that
you have in the console.. and may you must change where the Datasource is
pointing.

Hope it helps

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - event queue size is at 98% threshold

2008-11-26 Thread lovelyliatroim
Hi Guys,
 Im seeing alot of this in my log files,

anonymous wrote :

org.jboss.cache.RegionImpl - putNodeEvent(): eviction node event queue size is
at 98% threshold value of capacity: 20 Region: /realtime/quotes/ You will
need to reduce the wakeUpIntervalSeconds parameter.
  |

Now whats happening is this, my app receives a notification to transfer a
region to another node, the node transfers the data which can be up to 500,000
records from that node to the other node. After transfer it will look to
delete/remove the 500,000 records from its cache. When the deletion occurs I
assume it starts creating all the node events on the queue.

Now wakeUpInterval is set to 1 so that cant be made any better/quicker but the
queue size is obviously too small, this kind of event should happen rarely, its
only if something goes wrong.

What are the implications of increasing the eventQueue size?? Just more memory
i would say. What happens when events are fired and cant get on the eviction
queue?? Im seeing something that suggests to me that its dropped because after
i call the remove for a region, i still see records in that region when it
should be empty, does that make sense to you guys?? If not then its something
else going on!!

Also is there a difference between cache.removeRegion(FQN) and
cache.removeNode(FQN)?? Currently using removeNode(), will try with region and
see if it makes any difference, otherwise i will have to up the queueSize.

Thanks for your time,
LL

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: JBoss not bound as a global element

2008-11-26 Thread jhsingle
Thanks for all the feedback (and for escalating this question to a more
advanced forum). Here's what I've found this morning.

1. Added the port-component-name and still got the same error. (does the name
value have to match another attribute somewhere else?)
1a. Yes, there is a closing tag, it just escaped my cut-paste.

2. I tried using the DTD and my EJB now deploys successfully. My JUnit tests
are now failing with an access authorization error but I will assume that is a
separate configuration problem with the test user certificate.

3. After discussing with co-workers, I removed the "xmlns" attribute from the
jboss tag of my instance document (jboss.xml), so the jboss tag is now no
longer attached to a namespace (it is now global?) and again the EJB deploys
successfully and I get the same access errors as with the DTD solution. Is
this de-namespacing of the instance document a "bad" thing to do?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Custom navigation region

The navigation tab portlet gets displayed on every page, that has a layout

In my scenario I need two navigation components - the default, tab-navigation
on the top and a tree-like navigation of sub pages on the left.

Is there any way I can hard code a portlet to appear on every page with my
custom layout? For example a 'sidenavigation' region that always gets filled
with my TreeNavigation portlet?

(How does this work? How does the Navigation portlet always get injected into
the navigation region?)

Of course, if you not have content in your jbpm.cfg.xml, the content is taken
from default.jbpm.cfg.xml that is in jbpm-jpdl.jar. Inside this file, there is
a reference to hibernate.cfg.xml.
So check your mappings in hibernate.cfg.xml in order to fix your problem

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Does AssignmentHandler work within the start node??

2008-11-26 Thread ardavan
Thank you for your reply Martin.

I checked the javadoc - I believed that at the creation of my TaskInstance
object, the actorID parameter would be null
but that because this assertion is true:

  | TaskInstance taskInstance = createNewProcessInstance();
  | assertEquals("taskSubmission", taskInstance.getName());
  |
which shows that I am in the "taskSubmission" node

  |
  |
  |
  |
my jbpm.taskmgmt.EmiliAssignmentHandler would set the null actorId to "emili".

Nevertheless now this is the way that I am doing it:

  | public void testSubmissionTask3(){
  | GraphSession graphSession = jbpmContext.getGraphSession();
  | ProcessDefinition processDefinition =
  | graphSession.findLatestProcessDefinition("test");
  | processInstance =
  | new ProcessInstance(processDefinition);
  | contextInstance = processInstance.getContextInstance();
  | Task t =
processInstance.getTaskMgmtInstance().getTaskMgmtDefinition().getTask("taskSubmission");
  | TaskInstance ti =
processInstance.getTaskMgmtInstance().createTaskInstance(t,processInstance.getRootToken());
  | assertEquals("emili", ti.getActorId());
  | }
  |
I hope it is correct

Danke schoen
Ardavan

2008-11-26 Thread salaboy21
Where are you running this code?

if you are doing this in a JUnit test, you must ensure that jbpm.cfg.xml is in
your classpath, so you can do the following:

  | JbpmConfiguration conf= JbpmConfiguration.getInstance();
  | JbpmContext context=conf.createJbpmContext();
  |

Then you should check that your context is not null.

3) My application uses its hibernate.cfg.xml and the error makes me wonder to
some conflicts with jbpm session.
4) I use jbpm 3.2.2
5) Processdefinition files are deployed on local jbpm-console (just during

[jboss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Problem registering @Management interface for @Service class

2008-11-26 Thread Renen
Hello,

I would very much appreciate some assistance.

I am trying to create a"service" - effectively a singleton that is loaded on
start-up.

This worked in JBoss 4x. I am now trying to port the code to jboss-5.0.0.CR2...

My code is as follows:

  | public interface ProcessManager {
  |
  | public void create() throws Exception;
  | public int getID();
  |
  |
  | }
  |

And:

  | @Service (objectName="121:service=processManager")
  | @Management(ProcessManager.class)
  | @TransactionAttribute( TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED )
  | public class ProcessManagerMBean implements ProcessManager {
  |
  | @Override
  | public void create() throws Exception {
  | System.out.println("Process create");
  | }
  |
  | @Override
  | public int getID() {
  | return 2;
  | }
  |
  |
  | }
  |

However, when this is deployed, JBoss complains:

In addition to Wolfgang's post the JBoss AS is nothing more than an

The JAR's in question (i.e. jboss-j2ee.jar) are in /server//lib.

2008-11-26 Thread Wolfgang Knauf
JBoss somehow IS another JavaEE SDK, as the Sun J2EE SDK is nothing more than a
bundle of IDE, AppServer, and some tools.
So pick e.g. JBossIDE and JBoss and you have another flavor of a JavaEE SDK.

JavaEE is just a standard, so you need an appserver which is compatible to this
standard, and an IDE supporting it.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: How to set the Portlet for a window programmaticly

2008-11-26 Thread cpage
To create a window in a page use :
Page.createWindow("window name", ContentType.PORTLET, "instance ID")

To get the available portlet list you can do something like that :
get the FederatingPortletInvoker through the MBeanServer or the injection and
do :

  | Set portlets = new HashSet();
  | for (Iterator iterator =
federatingInvoker.getFederatedInvokers().iterator(); iterator.hasNext();) {
  |   FederatedPortletInvoker federated = iterator.next();
  |   portlets.addAll(federated.getPortlets());
  | }
  |

To create a portlet instance you could use
InstanceContainer.createDefinition("new instance id", "existing portlet context
id", true).

Another reservation is the beta stage of development. Can it be used in

I don't know if it's the good method but you can do something like that.

You need to cast the request to JBossRenderRequest and obtain the
"PortalObjectContainer" (through injection or MBeanServer) :

  | PortalNodeImpl windowNodeImpl = (PortalNodeImpl)
jbossRequest.getPortalNode();
  | PortalObjectId windowObjectId = windowNodeImpl.getObjectId();
  | Window window = (Window) portalObjectContainer.getObject(windowObjectId);
  | String instanceId = ((PortletContent) window.getContent()).getInstanceRef();

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - Re: JDBMCacheLoader location property

2008-11-26 Thread cavani
'#data' is a parameter of location property.

The expected behavior is: when there is no '#databaseName', cluster name is
used for this purpose.

The code is just inverted.

At JDBMCacheLoader start method:
(is basically the same for BDBJE)

  |   // test location
  |   File location = new File(locationStr);
  |   if (!location.exists())
  |   {
  |  boolean created = location.mkdirs();
  | if (!created) throw new IOException("Unable to create cache loader
location " + location);
  |
  |   }
  |   if (!location.isDirectory())
  |   {
  |  throw new IOException("Cache loader location [" + location + "] is
not a directory!");
  |   }
  |
  |   /* Parse config string. */
  |   File homeDir;
  |   int offset = locationStr.indexOf('#');
  |   String cacheDbName;
  |   if (offset >= 0 && offset < locationStr.length() - 1)
  |   {
  |  homeDir = new File(locationStr.substring(0, offset));
  |  cacheDbName = locationStr.substring(offset + 1);
  |   }
  |   else
  |   {
  |  homeDir = new File(locationStr);
  |  cacheDbName = cache.getClusterName();
  |   }
  |

my suggestion:
('homeDir' is unnecessary, just use 'location' where it is used)

  |   /* Parse config string. */
  |   int offset = locationStr.indexOf('#');
  |   String cacheDbName;
  |   if (offset >= 0 && offset < locationStr.length() - 1)
  |   {
  |  cacheDbName = locationStr.substring(offset + 1);
  |  locationStr = locationStr.substring(0, offset);
  |   }
  |   else
  |   {
  |  cacheDbName = cache.getClusterName();
  |   }
  |
  |   // test location
  |   File location = new File(locationStr);
  |   if (!location.exists())
  |   {
  |  boolean created = location.mkdirs();
  | if (!created) throw new IOException("Unable to create cache loader
location " + location);
  |
  |   }
  |   if (!location.isDirectory())
  |   {
  |  throw new IOException("Cache loader location [" + location + "] is
not a directory!");

  |

Thanks,

I know this might sound silly, but i have been using JBoss for the last 1 and a
Half years , but can't figure out where JBoss J2EE SDK files are.

Glass Fish clearly states "Sun bundles a GlassFish(Sun Java Application Server)
distribution with the Java EE 5 SDK. ". And it makes sense coz during the J2EE
SDK installation, you will be taken to install GlassFish.

BUT, when installing JBoss you don't go over a step of installing J2EE SDK,
Obviously, it HAS J2EE SDK installed somewhere for it to run EJB's

Can someone shed light please, coz such basic stuff cozes confusion

Thanks in advance

I have big problems to enable entity cache with hibernate and jbosscache in
JBoss 5.0.0.

The biggest problem is that i dont know how to monitor my cache.

I have a EJB project with entity-beans and remote facades to manage persistence.
And im only trying to setup a local-machine entity cache, and hopefully a
second_level_cache aswell.

I set the property of hibernate.cache.region.factory_class to
org.hibernate.cache.jbc2.MultiplexedJBossCacheRegionFactory in persistence.xml

And when i deploy the project, everything looks okay.
How do i log when hibernate cache makes the decision of putting entitys and
querys got, to the cache.
And how can i reach the cache and see whats in it?

Is there any other source then persitence.xml you need to change to enable
cache?

My persitence.xml look like this

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - Re: searchable, pull-based cache solution

2008-11-26 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
jofti has been discontinued AFAIK.

Re: a pull-based solution, look at using a replicated LAN based cluster of
caches (or standalone caches in LOCAL mode) on your client side, talking to
remote caches across the internet using the TcpDelegatingCacheLoader
(configured on the client) and the TcpCacheServer (running on the server side).

Re: JBC-Searchable, why do you feel this is inappropriate? You can configure
which attributes on your domain model get indexed (using the @Field annotation)
to limit the size of indexes generated.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - searchable, pull-based cache solution

2008-11-26 Thread dworq
His,

If anyone could please suggest, if JBossCache would be an appropriate solution
in the following case?

I am looking for a distributable cache that could be asynchronously propagated
to the remote clients (over internet, no vpn available).

The challenge is, to have pull-based updates to clients (that is, the clients
should establish connection to be able work behind a firewall) that should
maintain the latest state of their local cache based on the changes on the
server.

And the second thing is to have this cache searchable:
- jofti seems not to support the last versions of JBossCache Core and
especially POJO (its  website is neither available at the moment);
- JBossCache Searchable Edition is based on full-text search which is
inappropriate for the project because of speed and size concerns.

Thanks.

Does your node exist before you call putForExternalRead? The putForExternalRead
method will do nothing if the node already exists.

It seems the messages you are getting are not from JBoss AOP (they are only
output when using -Djboss.aop.verbose=true), but rather from other frameworks.
It looks like aop is replacing the logger anyway despite the efforts taken in
