[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - SSL issue on JBoss 5
Hi, I have been using Jboss 4.0.5 for about 2 years. Now we would like to give it a try with JBoss 5. The same configuration in server.xml of JBoss 4.0.5 fails to work with Jboss 5. This is the error when i try to load a HTTPS URL : In the browser's address bar i can see : https://192.168.157.18:8443/shops/myapp/secure?cmd=loginOption&cat=__createAcc Access Denied (connect_method_denied) Your request attempted a CONNECT to a port "8443" that is not permitted by default. This is typically caused by an HTTPS URL that uses a port other then the default of 443. For assistance, contact your network support team. My JBoss 4.0.5 server.xml snippets : | | | | | | | | | | Server.xml snippet from Jboss 5 : | | | | | | | | | | | Any help would be appreciated. Is there any difference between version 4.0.5 and 5 with respect to configuration ? And one more thing: When i remove the port number 8443 from the URL, it lands in the correct page. This fails only if i come from a non HTTPS URL. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - JBoss startup extremely Slow Mac OS X 10.5.5...
JBoss Version: 4.2.3 JRE Version: 1.5.0_16 I downloaded and installed JBoss 4.2.3 on my Macintosh OS X 10.5.5. When I start JBoss it takes about 2 minutes to start. I have run JBoss on this Mac before without problems. This is a clean version of JBoss. I have installed no new components and have not changed any settings for the default configuration. I've tried other versions of JBoss (4.2.1, 5.0) and they all now exhibit this behavior on this Macintosh. While JBoss is starting up, it is using up almost 100% of the CPU so it is not like it is waiting for something. I turned on DEBUG logging and noticed that for every jar that it is deploying it prints out the following and then pauses for 5-10 seconds before more is output to the log. | 2008-12-28 13:38:39,235 DEBUG [org.jboss.deployment.JARDeployer] No xml files found | 2008-12-28 13:38:39,235 DEBUG [org.jboss.deployment.MainDeployer] using deployer org.jboss.deployment.jardeplo...@31f16027 | 2008-12-28 13:38:39,239 DEBUG [org.jboss.deployment.JARDeployer] looking for nested deployments in : file:/Users/mburbidg/ambsoft/checklist/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/deploy/ejb3.deployer/jboss-ejb3.jar | Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing JBoss to startup so slowly. Please report in jira with *exact* steps on how you created and deployed it - I cannot reproduce this when I run Seam WTP wizard, using Seam 2.0. Both WAR and EAR is deployed fully. Also try and do a full rebuild of your project, to see if it is some issue with the files not being ready before the first publishing occurred. ooh - Extremely important to know that you did not create this project with Seam WTP wizard; makes a *big* difference. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - building jboss or microkernel question
I was told this was a user question so was directed to this forum original post: http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewforum&f=61 I was wanting to build JBoss from all source, but it unfortunately sucks ALOT of binaries in and the ones I wanted to fiddle with ended up in microkernel so I checked that out of SVN(since there is no released 2.0.2 file available), and that again sucked in more binaries. It seems quite impossible or at least alot of work to build JBoss from source. Is there instructions somewhere or a good article so I am actually building it all the way from the deployers... http://repository.jboss.org/maven2/org/jboss/deployers/ It looks like I have to build those, then deliver to microkernel, build that and then deliver to JBoss 5.0 and then build that There has got to be an easier way? Is there an easy way to suck in source maybe or something for everything from the JBoss 5.0 build so that I could change, rebuild, change, rebuild and basically fiddle with JBoss to figure out why my stuff doesn't work? thanks, Dean View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4198361#4198361 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=4198361 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

There is no way to do this within JBoss AS itself. However, the run script is, after all, just a script. You can modify the script to test if another instance is running first, either by examining the existing processes or using a "lock" file. How you do either of those depends on the operating system. Hi RS, I think you can try the TcpDelegatingCacheLoader. Although I didn't try it yet, the behavior of this loader described in the user guide may be is the one you want. [jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - No-storage nodes (coherence-like feature) question
Hi, I am trying to assess JBoss Cache capabilities. My app is a web site, and I plan to cache the data in a cluster of external cache jvms (partitioned cache, using coherence language). I would like not to store anything in the app server JVM itself, making it a no-storage enabled node (i.e. i would have access to all the data in the cache but just not really carry any of it in the app servers's jvm). I did not find an example of how to configure JBoss cache for that. Any help is appreciated. Thank you RS. There are two binary downloads for JBoss AS 5.0, one for JDK5 the other for JDK6. I just now checked the jbossvc.exe file in both. Looks like the jbossvc.exe file is corrupt in both of those downloads. Download JBoss Native 2.0.6 and install it, the jbossvc.exe file in there appears to be fine. http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/downloads/jboss-native/ Be aware, however, that APR is broke, at least on 32-bit Windows. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - BPM engine within different tools
Hi, This is not strictly speaking a jBPM question, but rather more a general BPM question, but I don't know where to post it else. I am interested in the position of a BPM engine within a whole system, composed of different tools. Let's say we have for instance an ECM. Should this ECM rely on an external BPM engine (for instance jBPM installed standalone)? Or should it embed an existing BPM engine? Or write its own one? A priori, I think this is more like the first option: rely on an external BPM engine, and provide support for instance by being able to be the BPM engine's UI, by providing a tasks widget, and by adding actions on documents like "go to the step X." But that's not clear to me. Any additional thoughts? And specific advantages, drawbacks...? PS: Cross-posted to the ML and the forum, not sure which one is better. The second entity is Risk in the application "Risk Management", which manages the risk of credit of a given Company. Both applications are implemented with EJB. Conceptually, Company has a one-to-one relationship with Risk. Do I have to package both entities at the same ejb-jar, under the same persistent unit in order to map the relationship between them? [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - -Dfile.encoding strategy
Hi All! I have couple of JavaEE applications running on JBoss 4.2.2. One application requires Shift_JIS encoding - for iMode mobile phones. That means to solve this problem I have to set -Dfile.encoding in run.bat file that starts JBoss. BUT this will affect ALL other applications that are running on teh same application server. Some of them use UTF-8, others - windows-1251. So -Dfile.encoding strategy is wrong for my situation because it changes encoding globally for all applications. One possible solution is to have separate JBoss for my Shift_JIS applicaiton and separate JBoss for UT-8 applications. BUT this strategy is also wrong since I cannot afford running mutliple instances of JBoss just for each application separately. What are possible solutions to this problen? [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - FYI - JBoss on OpenSuSE 11.1
Just a FYI - None of the documentation I could find applies closely to OpenSuSE or for that matter any Linux OS that uses the "update-alternatives" subsystem and Java packages from the OS repos (not the Sun website). These steps should generally apply to OpenSuSE 10.x also and from what I understand likely Mandriva (although I haven't verified). Of course, all installation steps should be done with Root permissions. :) Which Java? On OpenSuSE 11.1 today, by default packages for Java 1.5 and the OpenJava (not Sun) version 1.6 are installed, but not the "developer" packages (which are equivalent to the Sun SDK packages). The OpenJava version appears to work (I've only deployed a default JBoss but haven't tried yet to develop against it), but the "devel" package needs to be installed using Yast(currently java-1_6_0-openjdk-devel). You can doublecheck the installed packages using the following command, but it won't be easy to crosscheck all of the output update-alternatives --display java :) Downloading and Extracting The JBoss file package I'm installing is the ZIP, additional steps are described in the documentation if you decide to compile from source. Download and extract the files to a designated location. The documentation places the JBoss files under the /user/ directory, I prefer the /opt/. Probably there are many good options. :) Configure the JBoss environmental variables. The documentation does not describe a procedure that's appropriate for OpenSuSE where you should configure the profile, what now follows should enable a successful deployment Although it's possible to modify the /etc/profile file itself, take heed the warning embedded in the file. Better is to instead create a new file /etc/profile.local and store your configuration in that file. Create the /etc/profile.local file and add the following lines to the content of the file export JBOSS_HOME=[full path to jboss root] | export PATH=$PATH:JBOSS_HOME/bin In the above line, of course substitute and enter your full path to your JBoss files. :) Start JBoss and Test If you're in a hurry to test this configuration, execute the above 2 lines as well from a console, entering the commands into the profile.local file ensures that your JBOSS variables are initiated during machine bootup. Start your JBoss application, from a console either browse to or execute $JBOSS_HOME/bin/run.sh Watch the output for any errors. If you don't see any errors, then open a web browser to one or both of the following URLs for final testing http://localhost:8080 http://localhost:8080/jmx-console You should see actual webpages and not 404 errors. Hope this speeds someone else along... I am working on session replication in Jboss 4.2. All works fine and session replication works. But when i try to kill jboss process (kill ), it gives me error at client side that my session is not valid. It is interesting though, that if i kill process using kill -9 , it works perfectly. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: Unable to setup Jboss AS 5 as windows service
Looks like you are using the 8.3 filename for the JBoss AS home directory. What is the full name? If you replace the 8.3 name with the full name, will it work then? Try opening a command prompt, cd'ing to the bin directory, and running "jbosssvc.exe". If that fails, try loading josssvc.exe into the Dependency Walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/); perhaps you are missing a required library. Hi, I've been using the following annotations on an EJB 3.0 MDB in JBoss 4.2.3GA to limit the number of MDB instances that can be created. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Jboss 5, Hot Re-Deployment, display old content, Work Direct
Hi, I am currently evaluating JBoss 5 to replace a paid Application Server but am having problems with re-deployments of .WAR files. When I drag the .WAR to the deploy directory the first time, the correct content displays in the browser. However, once the content in the war file has changed and is copied over the old .WAR file, the original content is still displayed (much like it is storing it in cache). Stopping and restarting the server doesn't help, it still showed the old content. This told me that it was writing it to disk. Which led me to the "work" folder. When I delete the corresponding app from the "work" directory, the server creates a new one based on the new content. This is what I would like to achieve, without the step of deleting the application in "work" since it is recommended not to modify the "work" folder in a production environment. I have tried: -According to the standard output, hot deployment is working when the file is overwritten since is says "undeploy...redeploy..." and creates a new directory in TMP. Obviously HOT DEPLOY is working as advertised. -Changing "reloadable" attribute to "true" in the jmx-console's 'host=localhost,path=/webapp,type=Loader' link. (only in Jboss 4.2.3GA, doesn't exist in Jboss 5.0.0GA -Added reloadable="true" to the in server/default/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/context.xml -Modify and/or "Touching" the web.xml within the application I am trying to deploy. * None of these trigger the refreshing of the "work" directory. * I have read both the "Installation and Getting Started Guide" and "Administration and Configuration Guide" with no solutions * I have searched many forums including this one Any help from the experts would be very much appreciated! I am using: -Linux Ubuntu 6.06 -Jboss 5 (Also back-tracked to 4.2.3 with the same problem) -Running default configuration (./run.sh -c default -b x.x.x.x) -JDeveloper 10.1.3 on Windows XP SP2 Client for development and deployment (war creation) Thanks in advance View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4198587#4198587 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=4198587 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: Migrate J2EE Project EJB 2 from Websphere to JBoss
Yes, we try JBoss AS 5 at the moment and we migrate from WebSphere 6.1. We use a WorkManager in WebSphere to do background work. WorkManager: javax.resource.spi.work.WorkManager; In ejb-jar.xml: | | wm/MainWorkManager javax.resource.spi.work.WorkManager | Container | Shareable | | We can access the WorkManager in the JAVA code via a JNDI lookup. But with JBoss this seems to be not possible. Anyway, we need a way to implement background working in JBoss. I found this: http://batrapankaj.wordpress.com/2007/04/27/using-workmanager-in-jboss/ but I think it is only for JBoss AS 4. [jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: Migrate J2EE Project EJB 2 from Websphere to JBoss
What is a "workmanager"? There is no such term in JBoss AS (the concept might be there, but under a different name - it is always a good idea to define terms specific to other app servers) I am not sure why you want to modify jca-jboss-beans, other than the fact that it contains the text "workmanager". I doubt that this is the same concept as the "workmanager" in WebSphere. You do not need annotations when using EJB 2.x. Please go back to what I posted in my previous response, perform the tasks I asked, and post the results that I asked for. And it was nice of you to hint that you are using JBoss AS 5.0. Are you, by any chance, running a 64-bit version of XP? I ask because the service exe that comes with JBoss AS runs only on 32-bit Windows. If this does not help you, then comment out the echo statement (first line) in service.bat, run it again and post the output. I tried to create a task on Process definition Start and assigned that task to a perticular group. But when I login with the user who is in other group(having simple user permissions, no admin/manager permissions) using JBPM Admin console I am able to start that process definition. Also after start of that process definition, the task is assign to the user who started that process. Actuall that task should be assigned other group since, in the task assignment assinged this task to other group uging swimlane. Any help appreciated. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Any user sees all the user tasks
Hi All, I am working on one POC on JBPM. I am using jboss 4.2.3 and JBPM 3.3 GA. I am facing a problem which is similar to one already mentioned and solved in JBPM 3.2.3. ** [#JBPM-1022] 3.2.1 Admin Console: Any user sees all users tasks ... the current Admin Console, any given user will see all other users tasks. Plus a user can "take" another person's assigned tasks even when they are not an "administrator". ** With JBPM this problem is again persisting. I created 3 tasks and assigned these tasks to 3 different users. But from Admin Console, I am able to see the other users tasks and also I can perform taks assigned to other users. Any one is facing similar issue with JBPM3.3 View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4198554#4198554 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=4198554 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

[jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Re: Could not find datasource message in client JPA although
Thanks for the reply, jakiran. Ok...I've been doing a lot of reading so let me share with you and all some knowledge :-) but my client still not working:-( There are 3 ways to add jndi.properties to the client app :- (1) from the Eclipse Run Configuration menu, just add this to the VM arguments:- | -Djava.naming.provider.url=jnp://localhost:1099 | -Djava.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory | or you can do like my BidClient.java coding above and put the properties in code or you can just create a text file, name it jndi.properties and place it in root folder of client app. I've modified my app for this method so I can comment out all the InitialContext code additions and just put | InitialContext ctx = InitialContext(); | Much cleaner...Ok...that is settled Now I've read some more and it seems JBoss needs two more configurator files at the client side, namely application-client.xml and jboss-client.xml. I've added these 2 files :- application-client.xml: | | http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"; | xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"; | xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee | http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/application-client_1_4.xsd"; | version="1.4"> | | BiddingClient | | | java:OracleXE1_DS | javax.sql.DataSource | Container | | | | jboss-client.xml: | | | java:OracleXE1_DS | javax.sql.DataSource | OracleXE1_DS | | | Unfortunately, still getting the same error...Unable to find data source and the jndi initial naming error, see below: Console output : | [BidClient] : creating EntityManagerFactory... | log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.hibernate.cfg.annotations.Version). | log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. | javax.persistence.PersistenceException: [PersistenceUnit: BiddingTest] Unable to build EntityManagerFactory | at org.hibernate.ejb.Ejb3Configuration.buildEntityManagerFactory(Ejb3Configuration.java:677) | at org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence.createEntityManagerFactory(HibernatePersistence.java:126) | at javax.persistence.Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(Persistence.java:52) | at javax.persistence.Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(Persistence.java:34) | at Main.main(Main.java:61) | Caused by: org.hibernate.HibernateException: Could not find datasource | at org.hibernate.connection.DatasourceConnectionProvider.configure(DatasourceConnectionProvider.java:79) | at org.hibernate.connection.ConnectionProviderFactory.newConnectionProvider(ConnectionProviderFactory.java:137) | at org.hibernate.ejb.InjectionSettingsFactory.createConnectionProvider(InjectionSettingsFactory.java:29) | at org.hibernate.cfg.SettingsFactory.buildSettings(SettingsFactory.java:89) | at org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration.buildSettings(Configuration.java:2101) | at org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration.buildSessionFactory(Configuration.java:1325) | at org.hibernate.cfg.AnnotationConfiguration.buildSessionFactory(AnnotationConfiguration.java:867) | at org.hibernate.ejb.Ejb3Configuration.buildEntityManagerFactory(Ejb3Configuration.java:669) | ... 4 more | Caused by: javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory] | at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.java:657) | at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:247) | at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:223) | at javax.naming.InitialContext.(InitialContext.java:175) | at org.hibernate.util.NamingHelper.getInitialContext(NamingHelper.java:51) | at org.hibernate.connection.DatasourceConnectionProvider.configure(DatasourceConnectionProvider.java:75) | ... 11 more | Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory | at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) | at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) | at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) | at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) | at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:268) | at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251) | at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319) | at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) | at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:242) | at com.sun.naming.internal.VersionHelper12.loadClass(VersionHelper12.java:42) | at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.jav

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: how to unregister the partner services from jbpm console
Hi Prasad Registering of a Partner Service is nothing but adding an entry into the CATALOGENTRY table. This is done through the API addEntry() in the CentralCatalog Class. So removing the entry from this class should unregister it. However there are no Remove API given for it So I think if you can put a HQL query to delete the entry from the DB directly, it should unregister the partner service. I haven't tried that yet though. Just a pointer. sorry, no... well, I could , but do not want to spend the time on it. If this is to complicated for you (it is much simpler than what you were trying to achieve), I am afraid many more questions will come out of it. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: Migration problem to JBoss 5 GA
Solved The problem is that SessionBean implements 2 interfaces. Local and Remote. Since Remote interfaces has no methods inside while Local one has all methods that SessionBean implements. Removing Remote interface has solved the issue, however it looks like a bug or any unacceptable design pattern that previous release does not show any warnings neither new release does.. Thanks. Hi.. Thank you for your reply. This EJB work with JBoss 4.2.3 GA and does not work with JBoss 5.0 GA | package com.test.model.ejb.system; | | import com.test.model.entity.system.Usr; | import javax.ejb.Stateless; | | @Stateless(name = "UsrEJB") | public class UsrEJBBean implements UsrEJB, UsrEJBLocal { | @PersistenceContext(name = "testPU") | EntityManager em; | | public UsrEJBBean() { | } | | public Usr persist(Usr usrEntity) { | em.persist(usrEntity); | return usrEntity; | } | } It does not give any error, just warnings but it does not bind EJB to JNDI Tree like JBoss 4.2.3 GA.
