[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Intalio vs jBPM

2009-07-28 Thread swatis
BA with less technical knowledge but more of functional knowledge try to map
business requirements into process model.
Technical guy deals with technical aspects of process like integration with
other applications.
Intalio uses BPMN as process modeling language. got 52 BPMN notations
(standard). When Intalio designer deploys process on the server it deploys as
"BPEL" process.
If anyone has taken look at intalio, will understand how complex this tool has
become by making it BA friendly. Error Resolving is difficult task. User
Interface its not at all satisfactory. Integration with other open source
products like "Liferay portal for UI" is needed to have better look and feel.
Data Mapper given but its complex to understand that BA will prefer to write
Database adapter himself. :)...

Again the workflow form designer is again the same case.
What you can say overall is "Intalio Designer" has made process modeling easier
task but it consumes lot of time to understand that designer itself. whereas
jbpm xml is quite easy to read and understand.
One more advantage over Intalio jbpm has, is JPDL can be created by using any
XML editor. To understand 52 BPMN notations in terms of XML tags is not that
easy. SO you need to have "Intalio Designer" to design process.
Customization in JBPM is easy; having advantage over Intalio.
Web services can easily be created using Axis API So not a big deal.
And one more thing you can always create custom nodes in jBPM. Tell your BA
about your custom nodes and put in JPDL while modeling process. (one time
effort but worth of it). Create db node, email node, web service node and just
tell BA to use it... its not that difficult to modify XML file.

jBPM
 Database query can be done through developer no component available
 Needs to develop separate forms and then deploy
 Swimlanes are present but cannot visualize them.
 symbols  present are 10
 More developer centric. Control is given to developers
 Business rule management strong support. Drool or JBoss Rules.
 Again no BPMN standards. Own PDL.
 BAM (Business Activity Monitoring) for available but not to great extent

Intalio
 Db component is present but requires lots of configuration, mappings,
xml schema elements and so on
 No need to create separately and then deploy.
 Symbols present are 52 out of which 12 are used.
 Import Support for ArisXML, BPEL.
 Integrated with OpenLexicon rule engine needs to install separately.
Drools based.
 In platinum and gold versions BAM is present.
 Poor version controlling in both
 Easy LDAP Support

The difference is in your definition of "the".

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Class.html#getResource(java.lang.String)

Class.getResource() uses the ClassLoader which defined the Class in question.
So it's:

Class.getClassLoader().getResource()

...under the hood, and not:

Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader()

In theory the two could be the same. In fact, I'd say any access to any CL
from application code is a no-no, as the application could change the internal
mutable state of the CL itself which may lead to problems elsewhere. But the
Class.getResource() case should be fine.

This is expected.

javaee:env-entry-value is of type javaee:xsdStringType which extends from

2009-07-28 Thread jcstaff2
I understand where your caution comes from about the ClassLoader after reading
the spec, but when I read the Javadoc on getClass().getResource(), it sounds
like it too is locating the ClassLoader. When I did some searching, I found
that Tom Marrs (Lead Author, JBoss at Work: A Practical Guide) had the same
solution as I did as late as 2006.
http://www.coderanch.com/t/89900/JBoss/reading-properties-file

I spent the last few days building up a simple set of test cases where I loaded
classes and resources from different types of ClassLoaders both inside and
outside the EJB. In my simple test case, I could not recreate the problem. I
finally tracked the issue down to the deployment descriptor. The JBoss 5
parsing of the deployment descriptor elements seems to now include white-space
characters into values.

My class looked like the following...

  | @Stateless
  | public class TellerEJB implements TellerLocal, TellerRemote {
  | ...
  | @Resource(name="daoClass")
  | protected String daoClassName;
  |
  | @PostConstruct
  | public void init() {
  | log.debug("init(), daoClass=" + daoClassName);
  | teller = new TellerImpl();
  |
  | try {
  | AccountDAO dao = (AccountDAO)Thread.currentThread()
  |.getContextClassLoader()
  |.loadClass(daoClassName)
  |.newInstance();
  |

My deployment descriptor was written as follows

  | ...
  |
  |
  | TellerEJB
  |
  | daoClass
  | java.lang.String
  | xxx.jpa.JPAAccountDAO
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

Note the line break after ...DAO and the line break in the original debug
output. Once I removed the white-space from the deployment descriptor all
worked.

  |
  |
  | TellerEJB
  |
  | daoClass
  | java.lang.String
  | xxx.jpa.JPAAccountDAO
  |
  |
  |
  |

I've seen this same type of problem elsewhere in the processing of deployment
descriptors by JBoss 5. In one post I saw where adding export
JAVA_OPTS="-Dxb.builder.useUnorderedSequence=true" to the startup corrected the
issue. I have not yet tried that for this issue.

So, in short. I may be violating what you think is wrong with my use of
Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader(). However the problem in porting
from JBoss 4 to JBoss 5 ended up being a whitespace interpretation change of
the ejb-jar.xml between the two versions. JBoss 5 is adding extra whitespace to
the injected String variable.

Thoughts?

   Please help me or say some documentation where I can find the answer.

public class AsyncActivityTests extends

}
@Override
protected void onSetUpInTransaction() throws Exception {
super.onSetUpInTransaction();

deployJpdlFromClasspath("org/jbpm/examples/async/activity/process.jpdl.xml");
}

And start the process as:
ProcessInstance processInstance = executionService

All the other examples provided by the JBPM4 distribution runs ok with this

Yes it can, but for testcases it is done the easy way. Not sure (yet, because
of lack of knowledge) how you should start it. The unit tests in the sourcecode
(not the examples, but the real source) might give a hint.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Problem with AsyncActivityTest in a AbstractTransactiona

2009-07-28 Thread jcvergara
kukeltje/jbarrez thanks for give me an insight into the JobExecutor component.

I believe the Jobexecutor is configured correctly, my jbpm.cfg.xml include the
line:

I don't know why the transaction managed by Spring is not injected into the
JobExecutorMessageSession, I running the test against the default embedded
hsqldb.

Also I notice in the JBMP4 distribution examples this import line is commented:

If I comment the import the test runs Ok but the jobs are executed in the main
thread.

This means that the job executor cannot be used in an embedded way?
Thanks!

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - JMS secutiry

2009-07-28 Thread romanenco
Hello

Question about jms security:
by default jboss listens on IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost), so all samples easily
work with server.

Now we want to give network access to server and configured it to listen all
interfaces. But we should eliminate any anonymous access.

How can I configure login/password for jms? Is their any examples?

thanks

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Problems with variables in Start-node formular

2009-07-28 Thread legux
Hi all.

I have got the following problem.

I created a process definition with jbpm 4.

To the start-node i assigned a form where the user can select the value of two
variables.

The first transition leads from start to a decision-node, where i want to
evaluate the input. I assigned a DecisionHandler to do this.

Using a JUnit-Test everything wents fine.

When i deploy this to the jboss and want to start the process with the
jbpm-console, the form is shown and i can select the values, but in the
DecisionHandler i can't see the variables.

When i put a human task between the start node and the decision, and assign
view.ftl to this node where i show the variables i can see the values and after
completing this task the decisionHandler also can evaluate the variables.

Can anybody help me with this problem?

thanks,

You might double-check the data in the database (table jbp_users), and use
Oracle to monitor the queries. That might give you some clues as to what it
going wrong.

m2eclipse requires JDK, but you started Eclipse with JRE.
Could you try to replace line

  | C:\eclipse\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vmargs -Xms128m -Xmx512m -vm C:\Program
Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_14\bin\javaw -clean

Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_14\bin\javaw.exe" -clean

If C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_14 is a directory that contains JDK, Eclipse
will be started using JDK and m2eclipse won't complain.

1) the mavenized booking example contains booking, booking-ear, booking-ejb,
booking-parent and booking-test projects like the projects created by the Seam
Web Project wizard (projectname, projectname-ear, projectname-ejb,
projectname-parent and projectname-test).
I have chosen this structure because the most of the mavenized ear projects
(seam examples, portlet examples ...) use it.

2) which version of JBoss Tools, m2eclipse, Seam and AS5 are you using?

3) caused by WTP bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=247090
The attached patch works correctly, but it isn't applied to WTP 3.1.

4) I can't reproduce this issue. Will try to reproduce with the version of
JBoss Tools that you are using.

method which is returning the username converted to lower case.

 I am not sure why after changing all the usernames on setup.txt to lowercase
it still doesn't work when i try to login using the upper case user names !!!

[CODE]

protected String getUsername()

  if (userNameToLowerCase != null &&
userNameToLowerCase.equalsIgnoreCase("true"))
  {
 return super.getUsername().toLowerCase();
  }
  return super.getUsername();
   }

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - JBoss 5 NoClassDefFoundError & Other Exceptions

2009-07-28 Thread hwa
I'm new at JBoss 5 and I've been stuck on this problem for a week and could
really use (and appreciate) any help I can get.

I'm using JBoss 5.1.0 GA and I've tried JBoss 5 jdk5 version with JDK 5 and
JBoss 5 jdk version with JDK 6 and have gotten the same results. I'm also using
EJB3 with GWT and jBPM.

My ear application deploys perfectly on JBoss 4.2.3GA but not on JBoss 5. It
keeps on complaining that usual Java classes, like org.w3c.dom.Document cannot
be found. There's also a warning about the ClassLoader and I'm not sure if
that's related.

First of all, are these warning normal? Or is something already wrong when I
start the JBoss 5 server. And how do I fix these warnings?

  | 18:16:20,791 WARN [JBossASSecurityMetadataStore] WARNING! POTENTIAL

Then when I deploy the EAR that works on JBoss 4, it gives me these different
exceptions (depending on the scenario) in JBoss 5...

This exception occurs if I hit CTRL-C because nothing is happening:

I guess i need to extend the LoginModule as it seems that's the only option

Max, after the optional portion of m2eclipse are added, I was able to add
richfaces photoalbom application for the deployment to JBoss 5.1.0. However,
the deployment itself is failed.
The major problem is missing jboss-seam-2.1.1.GA.jar inside the ear file.
In case of launching mvn package external, the ear contains this jar.
JBT does not include it. Why?

The minor problem - I have to have replace ${prjectName} with 'photoalbom' in
all three pom manually. Otherwise, exactly ${prjectName} appears in the name of
all three projects.

I have spoken with Nik from RF team. He said he had no such naming problem on
his side. He has no JBTool, but only JBoss AS Tools (Version:
2.1.0.M2-N200907092133-H355)

Just to give you more details, I have an old sequential language that I
want to add some process features and I believe jBPM is the way to go.
I manage to do some tests with Shark/XPDL in the past but it was so hard to
get everything running that I gave up.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Intalio vs jBPM

2009-07-28 Thread gvergara1986
I was using jBPM and I can tell that the process definition is not totally
user-friendly because the nodes can be drag-n-droped and some properties and
configurations can be set-up in the Eclipse Grafical plugin. However, a
developer is needed to perform the java classes that will control some of the
bussines logic. jBPM is very good to manage human-task but, can any one tell me
if with jBPM we can orchestrate web services??..

General question is whether any MBean can participate in dependency

One way you can do this is to add a org.jboss.wsf.spi.annotation.WebContext
annotation with a contextRoot to the bean class:

@Stateless
@WebService
@WebContext(contextRoot="/shortandsweet")
public class SomeEjbBean {...}

Now the URL is http://localhost:8080/shortandsweet/Xmir

There is probably a way to specify this in a config file, but I'd have to dig
that up.

This worked for me (by the way, I am not using an MDB, if you are you will need
a few more things). I copied server/default as server/minmsg. Then I removed a
lot of stuff. Here is the final deployers directory:

jboss-aop-jboss5.deployer/
jboss-jca.deployer/
messaging-definitions-jboss-beans.xml
metadata-deployer-jboss-beans.xml
security-deployer-jboss-beans.xml

And here is the deploy directory:

messaging/
security/
hdscanner-jboss-beans.xml
hsqldb-ds.xml
jboss-local-jdbc.rar
jboss-xa-jdbc.rar
jca-jboss-beans.xml
jms-ra.rar
remoting-jboss-beans.xml
transaction-jboss-beans.xml
transaction-service.xml
vfs-jboss-beans.xml

You might be able to remove even a few more things and have it work but like I
said the above works for me.

Gert,

If you get reminders to work I'd like you to test if the template for the mail
that is used is really the reminder template. I suspect a bug, looking at the
source of the jPDL parser that the task-notification template is used. At least
if you do not configure the template attribute and xsd workaround that I
suggested in the task-notification issue.

If you 'hurry' with this, fixes might make it into 4.1 (although there
officially already is a jira freeze)

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - JBM replication needed?

2009-07-28 Thread FrankTheTank
I am working on replicating the database for a simple failover system and was
wondering if I need to replicate the data for JBoss Messaging?

If so, is it somehow possible to tell JBM to use a specific schema of an
already existing database?

I'm using slony1 and it would be a lot easier to only have to handle one
database and it's schemas and tables.

System:
JBoss 4.2.3 with JBM 1.4.4
PostgreSQL 8.3 database

If you do it, it will help us making a good product, and you would basically

Changing is another story. The EL is evaluated when the timer is created so
that does not much. For 3 there have been discussions in the forum. Please use
google to search for them. If I remember some had it working, but others
didn't. I solved it once by really moddeling this in the process (cancel an
existing task and creating a new one with a new duedate)

The examples don't have a job executor since there the jobs are executed
programmatically for readability. So we can't add it straight away to the
default config since it will make the examples do unexpected things ...

But I do agree that the configuration needs some documentation, seeing how many
people forget to include the job executor

If you deploy the same file under JBoss 4, it works perfectly without any

No, the duedate on the task is noting more than an indication of when it should
end. If you want to take a transition on that date, add a timer with a
transition and a duedate of the timer that is identical to the duedate on the
task.

  |

As I've stated in my post, I tried using classloader isolation but the only way
it works is if I use it like so:

  |
  |
  |

However, this changes the servlet spec classloading behaviour as well as causes
other Exceptions in my application (which I am not posting here since they are
app specific) because my app is now using the JBoss xerces and not my own.
Therefore, this is not an acceptable solution.

If I configure classloading isolation like so (notice the different value for
parent-first), I get the same Exceptions as posted above.

  |
  |
  |

I've already explained all this in my post. The problem is that JBoss is using
my web application's classloader during deployment instead of its own.

Can you just answer this one question: If you look at the Exception
stacktrace, there is no sign of application specific classes there, so how come
it is the xerces bundled with the application that gets used to parse the xml
files?

I have to use server module that response valid http headers and data but with
abnormal status codes (e.g. smth like HTTP/1.1 900...).
This web application works on glassfish, and it seems that in JBoss it
conflicts with some security settings. How can it be tuned?

You'll see that the core concepts are the same, but the complete way of working
has changed.

So yes, the switch to jBPM4 makes sense, ceratinly if you want to be
future-proof (but this also means learning jBPM4)

Gert,

It is not necessary to run on a JEE server. You just need to enhance your
configuration to include the job executor to make timers and reminders work:

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - task due date

2009-07-28 Thread frinux
Hi,
I'm trying to set a due date to a task, so that when the due date happends, the
task ends and one transition is taken.

Here is what I tried :

Collection tasks =
processInstance.getTaskMgmtInstance().getTaskInstances();
  | for (TaskInstance taskInstance : tasks) {
  |
if(taskInstance.getName().equals("valider_demande"))
  | {
  |
taskInstance.setDueDate(demande.getAbsenceDateDebut());
  | jbpmContext.save(taskInstance);
  | }
  | }

Nothing happens when the due date expires, so I wonder how to make it work...

Thanks

What folder did you copy? You should have copied the whole thing, or downloaded

And what about the other things I asked for?

Currently, you can adapt the default reports using Eclipse BIRT.

In the future, it will be possible to inlclude custom reports (you can already
completely adapt the default ones).

2009-07-28 Thread kukeltje
I've been mislead also. https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBPM-2254

Thought that notification and reminder accepted a template attribute, but
looking at the xsd, they don't.

BUT... according to the source it should work. So try something like I
mentioned before:

  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |   Assignment notification (E)
  |   Task assigned
  |
  |
  |

And if embedding the template in the pd does not work, try putting the template
in the config file.

hi,

this is indeed a bug: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBMESSAGING-1694. -1
should be a valid value but it is not accepted in 2.0.0.Beta3 (and Beta4). This
is fixed in the trunk, sorry for the inconvenience.

As a workaround, you can try to pass the Long.MAX_VALUE which in effect will
means an "infinite" timeout.

If you remove the async attribute the test runs fine because the job executor

Do you use the default embedded hsqldb with the tests or your own db? If the
latter is the case, look if transactions are configured correctly (I cannot

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: How to create Timers in a Task node.

2009-07-28 Thread TejJBPM
You can configure a reminder in the task node by Clicking on the reminder tab
and giving due date and repeat as "yes"..

On the fly..hm..It does not accept any JSF expression..so I am afraid you
have to specify the time when creating the reminder..

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: JBoss 5 Integration

2009-07-28 Thread andydale
Hi,

I followed the instructions from the following page
http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/JBossPortalonAS5, but rather than using
5.1.0Beta1, I am using 5.1.0.GA.

Both maven compiling steps went fine for me, but unfortunately the compiling of
the JBoss_Portal_Branch_2_7_AS5 had i few issues. Here is the output:

 [javac] Compiling 249 source files to
/commons/data/downloads/jboss/portal_as5/portal/wsrp/output/classes

  | .. I discovered that to resolve this build issue I had to add
the jar create from the mvn install for the metadata
(metadata-wsrp-trunk-SNAPSHOT.jar). This then leads to the following build
problem:
   [javac]
/commons/data/downloads/jboss/portal_as5/portal/wsrp/src/main/org/jboss/portal/wsrp/deployment/WSRPConsumerDeploymentImpl.java:43:
 package org.jboss.portal.deployer.wsrp.container does not exist

/commons/data/downloads/jboss/portal_as5/portal/wsrp/src/main/org/jboss/portal/wsrp/deployment/WSRPConsumerDeploymentImpl.java:65:

  | [javac]public void deployConsumer (ConsumerDeploymentsMetaData

  | [javac]^

Adding the jar created from mvn package for the deployer fixes this build issue.

This gives me the following structure in jboss server/all/deploy (NOTE, gif and

Have a look at https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBDS-804
It's related to issues with Maven Integration (on M3)
May be you'll face these problems too.

Yes. I can see my name on the upper right corner and edit my profile. But I did
not find how to create a jira.

[jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - cluster invocation failed

2009-07-28 Thread cattivik100
Hi
We are running 2 clustered instances of jboss 4.2.2. They properly serve more
or less 100 clients in our production environment.
But we focus a problem, when one cluster is shutdown some clients raise
following exception.
Seems that cluster configuration is ok.
Both instances are started like this:
run.sh -b $BIND_IP -g $PARTITION_NAME -c $CONFIGURATION -u $MULTICAST
I don't know where the problem could be...
Can you help me?
Many thanks
c
